Any virtue to Elec Control in PvP?

Im considering making an elec/ dom or troller just to try out the new shiny, but I can never stnad playing characters that just get wrecked if, say, you get challenged to a duel. Is there any virtue to the endurance draining mechanism in PvP, or are they just crappy, wannabe mind/fire's?

i'd imagine it'd be a nice sapping combo with therm(germlins to speed it up and what not) but i don't think the set does barely any damage.

you're probably better of going ill/mind anyway though.

Illusion? Really? Maybe im just stuck in I12, but I have a hard time seeing it as a PvP set. I suppose I ahv eseen one or two around, but I enver seemed to ahve much trouble with them as a blaster, in my (still fairly limited) experience.

Then again, that may just be because Psi/EM is nice and broken-tastic, I suppose.

ill does pretty good damage with PA and phantasm. ST is nice for stalkers and you get some nice defensive tools in confuse(great for anything else with pets) and placate proc in blind.

That doe slook liek fun., Im curious though, how do youf idn it stack sup comapared to the sheer frontloaded damage of a psi/em or a good stalker, or the survivabiliyt of some melee builds?

for duels, its a stupid easy combo to play. anything that you can't outright damage via PA/phantasm/you will die once it's sapped via HE. stalkers break hide within view of spectral terror, after that they're an easy target.

for zone, it plays more disruption with confuse/blind and sapping the taunter or (if there isn't one) the most annoying blaster/scrap.

Hrm. True enough. I meant the /rad build though? One of my earlist heroes - abandoned when I realized it was no good for PvP - was ill/rad, so Im a bit curious. The op-ness of /therm is known to all. LOL

The only thing that's OP about Therm is that you can't simply bring a tray of greens and still win against one. Since inspiration management and finding a good balance between aggressive and defensive are skills that most people still playing this game don't have, people cry about Therms being too good, but it's amazing how a Therm will QQ if you bring the right inspires and play to their weaknesses.

Thats true so far as it goes, but just as a tray full of greens is not a perfect substitute for real self-healing, a tray full of blues is definately not a perfect substitute for your actual recovery. At the very least it puts time on their side - you have to kill them before your tray runs dry, where-as they can focus purely on evasion and keeping HE running on you and wait for you to run out and be helpless.

Thats more of a duel problem, though, of course (which has always been what I cared about more). team play, especially zone play, I agree that its super-wintasticness can be a lot more limited. EDIT: Rather, at least, as you claim, its effectiveness has a lot to do with peoples reactions to it, as much as to its actual effects.

EDIT 2: Also note that inspirations tray slots are a limited resource. Every space you devote to a blue to counter end drainign abilities is one you cannot ue to carry a green to keep yourself alive, or a red to really make out your spike.

Anyone else have any experience with electric control and pvp? I'm slowly leveling one.. one day I will get around to figuring out its strengths and weaknesses in pvp but until then anyone else tried it out? The end drain seems very situational.

Elec Fence, Tesla Cage, Gremlins, and perhaps Jolting Chain (slotted for end drain) seem like the only viable powers in the set. Then maybe Mu Guardian.

It's definitely a 180 compared to Mind for damage, but I can see it being a good support toon for power boosted -end. Slow deaths with trollers, slightly faster with doms, but I've taken enough toons into pvp that celebrate mediocrity.

I agree with therm for a good secondary (just like everyone anticipating the set thought it should go with)
