Time to Talk APPs

Hey Everyone, now that i18 NDA has been lifted, let's talk about how Corr APPs are going to look. Paragon Wiki has a short list up as a guide. Basically, Corrs are getting a direct port of Defender APPs.

- Dark Mastery: Oppressive Gloom; Dark Consumption; Dark Embrace; Soul Transfer; Soul Drain

- Power Mastery: Conserve Power; Power Build Up; Temp Invulnerability; Force of Nature; Total Focus

- Electricity Mastery: Electric Fence; Thunder Strike; Charged Armor; Shocking Bolt; Power Sink.

- Psychic Mastery; Dominate; Mass Hypnosis; Mind Over Body; World of Confusion; Telekinesis

------------

Just on the surface of things, it looks like the APPs will provide a bit more damage dealing options than the PPPs - but the utility powers open up later. Also glad to see a little psi carryover here since Corrs don't get that damage type normally.

Right now I'm thinking I'll be aiming for Power Mastery on my DP/Rad Corr. What is your call?

I was playing with my fire/kin corr with power mastery and I was very happy with it. It was weird playing on the hero side and getting buffs from an emp and being treated as a blaster.

I think my Fire/Dark (and most Corrs for that matter) will really like Power Build Up.

I'll now be able to herd a bunch around a corner, pop Power Build Up and not only do more damage when I jump out, but be safer doing it with the increased defense and tohit debuffs.

Honestly, none of them. Defender APPs are fairly meh compared to being able to softcap s/l. Defense shields >>> resistance shields on squishies.

PBU is nice but nothing amazing. Psy Mastery pool is good for cheap set mules I suppose.

I was really hoping for an Ice Mastery pool (Frozen Armor + Hoarfrost, do want).

Does TF scourge? <.<

I won't be changing my main at all.

He's got the Mu pool, and the utility powers in that are far too good to change to something else. conserve power, power sink, charged armor, and that happy little aggro-sponge Mu pet.

Just can't seem to justify breaking up such a well-playing set I guess.

It better. Aim->PBU->Total Focus->Nuke sounds way too tempting.

Dark Pit and Oppressive Gloom will stack nicely.

*sigh* Have to keep my crab redside until I get the leviathan mastery powers I need...

I'm with Silas here. Def shield on a squishy is awesome. That same pool also gives an AoE immobalize which is also pretty awesome.

Well Def vs. Resistance is a reasonable issue to bring up, and I wouldn't suggest Silas doesn't know how to make a fine Corr. I'd still go with a few of these for conceptual reasons or general convenience (simply don't want to run the patron arcs AGAIN).

What got me is that the hold in electricity mastery is better in every way than the hold in mu mastery. Except its blue.

All of the patron holds, for every villain AT, suck major *** compared to the ones in ancillary pools (many ancillary ranged holds are 16-second timers, compared to 32-second timers for PPP holds).

If I wanted to pick up an APP set on a Corruptor I'd probably go Psi because Dominate is good and TK and World of Confusion are hax.

Psi for Kins is amazing. Mass Hypnosis, run into the mob, Fulcrum, and then obliterate.

Have you done that hypnosis + fulcrum shift trick Candle? Does it work? My mid's is telling me that corrupters can't take mass hypnosis...though I suppose I could just log in and look....

Does Dominate Scourge?

I still see no reason to pick anything over Mace Mastery, besides a few exceptions. Scorpion Shield is that great.

While Scorpion Shield is pretty awesome, I do think its fun that Corrs now get access to the un-nerfed Defender Soul Drain :3

Problem I have with going for s/l defense is a lot of mezzes aren't typed s/l and mezzes are usually the biggest bane I have with a squishy. Most mezzes however are typed either ranged or AoE, so I tended to do better avoiding them going that route. Then add the resistance shield on top of it as an extra bonus. I actually found my 35-40% ranged defense squishy with res shield felt sturdier than a s/l defense one at 45%.

A lot does depend on your playstyle (hang out more in melee or ranged) and budget of course though.
