Minor Nitpick but GM's do indeed work in Paragon Studios. They have made a couple cameo appearances on Zwill's coffee talks. One stopping to make a joke about GM's not hating players.

Also, if interested, Kheldian backstory, should you be interested in lore.
Hope they help.
Bill's guide is good and a great resource. Some of the info is going to become dated when i21 hits but I am sure he will have an update out fairly quickly once everything from the VIP beta is final -
Good guide here for macros, binds and popmenus http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=125603
I think I pimp this guide more than the the guy that did us the favor of writing it up. -
Well uhm yeah. I got 10 levels in on a Plant/Fire dom.
Looked at the character creator screen for i don't know how many times, poured over mids for hours on end and read the forums trying to find something to roll that I would get hooked into playing. All to no avail.
Everytime I tried to get excited about a new idea I would think about the StJ/Ea Brute I have planned out or my Fire/Time Corr or my Ill/Time Troller and get all meh about anything left on live that I could make.
This was the biggest let down of a dbl xp I have be here for.
I know it is no ones fault but my own that I couldn't get into anything this weekend until 2 hours before I needed to get to sleep on Sunday night. Wish I had started looking at how much fun Seeds, Roots, BoF was going to be on Friday I would have got her up to 40 for sure if not all the way to 50.
On the bright side I have something to work on til i21. If I can resist the urge to pl her. -
Quote:I didn't know my keys either. I believe in those fields I entered that I did not have the information and was able to get an unlock with just my master account name, password and my date of birth.Well Im locked out and its been over 2.5hrs and i cant do crap. I answered the questions to what I thought were the correct answers but obviously something wasn't right and i figured the lock wouldn't last that long but guess I was wrong. So, here I sit waiting on either the lock to expire or a response, neither of which seem to be in any hurry...Just checked out that link and if its wanting the serial keys then all is doomed as I installed the game way back in 04 and wouldn't even begin to know where and/or if I still have the damn thing >
Really hope it gets sorted out for you. -
Quote:Are you saying that you have been gone for sometime and just coming back this weekend and that you were not an active user when NcSoft had us all reverify our account info and security questions a few months back?Well I had a gathering scheduled up tonight with some friends as we were all going to resub and play together but with this going on, its definitely not going to happen now it seems.
I was locked out of my master account when they made this change. Took maybe 30min to get my account questions reset using the links in the NcSoft support knowledge base.
The link to the forms is here https://help.ncsoft.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/7960
I didn't have any of the id numbers they asked for or box serial codes. I was able to get my account unlocked with my Date of Birth and my master account name. Hope the fix is that easy for you. -
Quote:I will have to respectfully apologize as my memory seems to have failed me on this one.Fascinating. I've never seen a miss notification with it, and Mids doesn't list Accuracy enhancements as valid to slot in it.
edited to add: It's also listed as autohitting foes in RedTomax's database
I have a very vivid memory of this power being able to miss and deleting the character that I had leveled to 28 just to have that power after seeing Energy Drain miss repeatedly unless I had hit build up before it's use.
This would have been pre i13 revamp and I am unable to find that data on either Redtomax or Paragon wiki.
I concede that I must have an incorrect recollection on this matter. -
Whoops need to proof my posts before I send them. Thanks for clearing up my error
-
This is false. Powersink in /ELA is auto hit. Energy Drain can and will miss. I would think that with Energy Drain being changed into a clone of Energy Absorbtion from Ice/ that it will keep the tohit check in the revamp.

Mind may SOUND dominator esq but I'm sure its nothing like it, mind doesnt even have powers which force you to be or benefit from being in melee range.
I am not sure what your trying to say here. Mind/ is already a dom primary. It is hard to get more dominator esq than that. The set is exactly the same for doms as it is for trollers.
As for /TM if that was what you had meant instead of mind. One of the cornerstone abilities of the set is a pbaoe toggle debuff that pretty much means your going to be in melee most of the time to get the most out of your powers. -
Quote:I am assuming your taking WoC for concept reasons? So I've decided to make a dominator with Confuse, Mass Confusion, and World of Confusion. The one problem? I can't decide which one of these powers to put the Contagious Confusion proc into.
All of them seem like good choices but I've never played a Dominator or Controller so I'm not sure. Anybody got some advice for me?
I really think the best answer is to not ever take WoC and slot the Contagious Confusion proc into confuse to turn it into a mini mass confuse.
If you are deadset on having WoC then I would most likley slot it with the proc. The reason being that the proc by itself is more effective than the whole power, when you combine the two you get an almost useful confuse aura. -
Quote:Black Scorpion tends to take the least amount of time from my personal experience.I've decided I'm going to do a Patron Arc ... more so to get the respec than to get access to a particular patron pool on my Widow. She's got Night Widow on her alt build but I don't like playing it.
I've already done every Patron Arc at least once.
So I guess what I'm asking now is which Patron is going to cause me the least amount of hassle when I go in to beat them up? -
You understand beta testing is to find and fix bugs right? How else do you get enough players poking and prodding a system to find the problems and weak points that need fixed?

Quote:I went over to Freedom to see how the pay per run farms were. Mostly just curious since I farm more than my fair share on my home server./this.
Freedoom is about the only place I've ever seen someone charge for a farm - much less have it commonplace. And, frankly, I think the people who are paying are suckers - the farmer's already going to get a fair chunk of INF coming in from recipes, INF drops and tickets. The farm will run the same whether you're there or not. *shrug* But I don't use them, I just laugh at them and shake my head the few times I bother going to that server.
I was rather let down by the experience.
It took over 10 minutes to get a slot on a farm each of the 5 times I went on runs.
Each farmer was intent on running Creys for their farm. All took over 10minutes to complete and all limited themselves to only 3 people being pl'ed with one being venge bait to start the farm. Everyone ran +3x8 with bosses.
So long waits, substandard farm ( no one that knows what they are doing are running that dog) substandard run times and not a one of them smart enough to use a good set of keybinds to increase their damage/lower their times.
I can blow through that map in 4:07 on my TF built SS/FA for crying out loud. -
Everyone else had given good advice here. Only thing I would add is that you also want to get the Devastation chance for hold proc into acid mortar in addition to the Lock Down proc in PGT. Between those two I have no problem keeping two full spawns stationary long enough for Rain of Fire to do it's thing on my Fire/Traps corr.
-
Then I can just go to any contact or combat medic. Buy regular inspirations and keep combining until I have a tray of the large inspirations that I want.
Thus making something that is already a bit on the OP side totally over the top. -
Quote:Limiting Insp to 4 or 5 at a time just makes the start up costs a bit higher. Tier 4's will still get the job done and as you have pointed out, you are able to get out in 90 seconds now. A team of 2 would be able to do this in 60 seconds even with a limit on Insp stacking. Sure it costs a bit more but the returns are still stellar.Limit Inspirations to 4 or 5 at a time each, make the Brute damage cap lower at lower levels like other ATs, scale the Fury bonus by level somehow, cancel Inspirations when zoning, only allow a single ambush to be triggered per boss or object, probably more stuff. But no matter what they do, people who want the best rewards will find an efficient way to get them. There will always be a big difference between what the devs design as a fun way to play the game and attract players, and what the min/maxers will do to get the best rewards.
The Brute damage cap is most likely meant to scale with level. I really don't see why they would be the only exception.
The idea of scaling Fury with level I find distasteful. No other AT has it's inherent treated in this manner. Yes defenders have their self buff from Vigilance scale but team buff portion is constant from level 1. As much as the game has moved forward in making it faster to get out of the low level ghetto I would hate to see it take a step back with a move like this.
As for making inspirations drop on zoning. I think that would most likely stop this form of farming but I doubt the devs can find a way to code it. For how many years have we been double stacking shields and buffs due to the game not being able to tell we are already buffed upon zoning? Even the Health and End procs have this issue.
I can't say I like the idea of limiting ambushes. Mass carnage is part of what makes being a superhero fun. If anything removing the Agro cap from ambush spawns so that your under fire from all the enemies would be a balance. As fast as the spawns drop in these missions there are still quite a few times when your over the agro cap and the mobs are awaiting their turn to get in on the fight. -
Quote:512178 by Neogumbercules. At that low level you don't gain anything by running a map tailored to your secondary as your resists are to low to make that a leverage point. It is much more beneficial to find a low damage throughput combination like what Neogumbercules did here.Ok let me say this, whoever came up with this is awsome. I was skeptical at first but I tried it myself. Got to 22 in a little over an hour. My character is DB/Elec. Whats crazy is yesterday I was trying to level up another character doing AE stuff and completely skipped over this due to the exemplar to level 3 thing. Had I known this yesterday I would be almost 50 by now. That being said I need to know are there missions like that for an Elec/SD scrapper or Elec/Fire brute that isnt a fire cyborg farm?
I don't know who originated the idea. I have been doing this for over 2 years now but I was inspired to try this from a post in an old Arcanaville thread titled I believe "The solo leveling conjecture". Someone in that thread blew away the leveling curve at the time by using a claws/wp brute on an all boss 32 spawn point map to go 1-22 in 90 minutes.
I took that concept of level locking to maximize % of enemy health taken per attack and married it to the popular concept of ambush farming but I highly doubt I was the 1st person to do this. -
I do 2 gold rolls at 35-39 then I move down to silver 30-34 for the balance of tickets on hand.
I used to never go with the gold rolls as I hated to spend 15 minutes getting to 9k tickets and seeing them go away in 2 or 3 rolls of crap.
I have since gotten my SS/FA runs down to 6min for 9k tickets. At that pace I find it hard to pass up the chance to roll 18-20 times an hour with a shot at Kin Combat Triples and LotG's +7.5 recharge among other goodies. Hell thats the same thing as being able to collect 4 A merits of rolls and hour. -
What do you plan to farm? Just AE for tickets, AE to pl, a mission for purples or a mission for pl'ing?
The reason I ask is that if your just going to farm tickets for $$$ then either FM/FA and SS/FA are easily able to cap tickets in 60 seconds plus the time it takes to pop insp, load up, reset the mission and roll tickets when full.
Once you get to a certain point your earning tickets so fast that the biggest drain on your inf/min isn't your power set it is time spent rolling tickets, popping insp before the mish and load times.
It takes on average 30 seconds of out of mission crap for me per run. Some are more due to rolling tickets on that run. Others might be faster if I'm still damage capped and my tray has a large number of reds that I hadn't used yet where I can just jump right back into the fray.
Lastly Rage crashing is never an issue for me. I don't recall the last time I bothered to use it in a AE farm. I'm already capped to damage and I have plenty of tohit in my build as it is. -
This has what to do with City of Heroes?
Seems like you would be better served by posting this to something like Yahoo Answers. -
Quote:Shark is the easiest/shortest trip from the BM to the AE.It took me me some time before I saw you were doing this in Shark. Not really sure why you started there. I still think street sweeping to level 3 and then doing this is better due to more inspir slots, but obviously not much of a difference. There is I believe a typo where you say "No" instead of "Now."
Straight line less than 500 yards. Easy to avoid the mobs.
You can take the Black Helicopter from Mercy North right behind Kalinda to Shark and it is less than 700 yards to the BM. Shorter run than dragging butt cross Mercy I think. -
Quote:It is not possible to build a SoA to do no damage and leech a team. Thank God for small favorsI love being a defender. I get that sense of joy that a Stalker must get when he pulls an awesome AS, but I get it every single time I give out SB. Every. Single. Time. I pride myself on being the oil that keeps the gears of my little pubbie teams going. It's just something I think I'm built for.
And now I'd like to build an awesome SoA. Of course I don't want to do any damage. I'd be very happy if I only had attacks that did some debuffing, in fact.
Is this possible? What type of SoA would be best? Is it worth it to make a SoA that is geared strictly to pubbie teaming, where it can give tons of buffs and debuffs out? Pets are fine, especially if they're mini defenders. I honestly don't care if I can't solo a minion, I just want to defend. Help me!
It is perfectly possible to build an SoA that buffs the heck out of team while also debuffing and controlling hordes of enemies as others have already stated.
If you really wanted to do the least amount of damge possible, buff your teamates and still be filling your overall role on a team then playing some form of controller that slotted every power for max hold/imob/sleep/whatever isn't damge but still hampers the foe effect's and recharge would serve much better than trying to gimp down a damage class like SoA to fit your needs.
