Restricted AT's?
Account server is currently down - so the game doesnt know you're a vip - so you dont have access to controllers, MM's, EAT's or any unlockables.
It is down because of an account security issue found by players and will be up as soon as they can hotfix the issue (account data could show another players personal info... because of the issue they immediately closed the acct server to correct the problem)

Free players are restricted. I got my account authenticated earlier and even unlocked some of the extra power sets. I think beam is the only one I don't have unlocked.
Anyway once the account server is working again you should get awarded your correct Vet status.

As I recall, Controllers and Masterminds are locked from free play. The stated reason is "they tend to drain CPU time more." I can't find a post on this, but I know there was one.
I understand that justification for Masterminds - the henchman stuff probably has the game doing backflips. But Controllers? They're Control/Buff. You can already get both of those sets in at least one AT that's already existing.
Dominators have Control (/Assault)
Corruptors have /Buff.
I'd say a Dominator and a Corruptor, teamed up, is ALMOST the same as a Blaster (Ranged/Support) and a Controller (Control/Buff). I'm playing fast and loose here suggesting that ranged/support is similar to ranged/assault. But still.. what extra CPU cycles would a Controller take, that any other non-Mastermind wouldn't? Is it Containment?

A Dominator has other options to deal damage, where a Controller is pretty reliant on it's primary for damage dealing. And most of the AoE powers in Controller primaries are pretty heavy on CPU usage.
I suspect there is actually a similar problem with Dominators, but the devs felt it wouldn't be fair to lock 2 Villain ATs and only 1 Hero AT, so they just locked the worse Villain offender. (masterminds)

So you're really that surprised that the system got broken when hundreds of people all log on, make new characters and buy all the new shiny things all at the same time? It's a beta, if you expect everything to be working perfectly aside from the "small bugs" that could be as simple as typos in the mission text, then you need to lower your expectations.

As for the rest? Yeah, it's still in Beta. Not on the test server. The Beta server. The Devs shouldn't have everything done on the Beta server. That's where it goes for stress testing and the identification of bugs that they couldn't find with a small group. When it goes to the Test server, that's when it should have most of its bugs worked out.

Stuff breaks all the time on live, and that has a buffer in the form of the test server to try to catch the worst of it. I don't think it's unreasonable, then, to expect problems on beta - ESPECIALLY with the sudden influx in the number of testers. Part of an open beta is the stress test; things that worked 'fine' in closed beta with a limited user base may break under the weight of a dramatic increase in users. If/when they do break the devs can then fix and optimize to account for it. The Beta exists to diagnose these problems.

As this is the 2nd wave of the Beta, yes I expect the Paragon Point system to be working at the very least.

The fact that it crashed and burned the first day is actually a decent sign because this gave them good solid data on how much they will likely need to scale it up for a live release.

I have to go and add powers to my tray by hand for movement at 4 so why on earth is this a problem?
I declare that this is normal behavior and think that they fixed the bug where it would force itself unwanted into your power tray.

Aett & Terra - to be fair, rest used to auto-appear and, with no note to indicate it was part of some bug fix (or unintended and turns out for some reason they are leaving it as is) we have no clue what the dev stance on it is.
Midgard2, as noted beta is for finding bugs. If it's true about the security issue, I'm guessing the issue didn't show up until the server was under heavy load - one of the reasons why betas are in stages. Small group to find the more glaring/stable/obvious bugs, then you ramp up the test group size for both data collection and stress testing. Once it goes to test - and/or is called a "release canidate" (a term the devs don't really use on the boards) - that's when you expect the big stuff to be squashed.

wth, im pretty sure my rest power still drops into my tray at level 2, at least on my last 4 toons i made in the last couple of days it has, yall gonna make me go make another toon just to test this out.
on another note, why does it matter, if it does fine, if it doesnt fine, if you want it on your power tray put it there, if you dont want it remove it, only takes a few seconds to do that. now if the game is not giving you the rest ability under your powers tab, i can see that being a problem and maybe should be /bugged to let support know, but on your power tray, really, really. kind of a silly thing to be complaining about either way to me.
Beta servers equal problems with game, get used to that. Hell for seven years this game has had odd little quirks that dont seem to get fixed, maybe thats why i really enjoy this game so much, its got personality.

So I just got into the beta client and was making my test character and noticed I'm unable to create an MM...is this right are we only limited to certain AT's in the beta?
