I'm rerolling my EM/Nin Stalker atm and I was wondering how Water Spout did for damage. I of course, am getting it for it's looks, as I just want the hold in the set. After that, my left over choices are Caltrops, Spirit Shark (or Water Spout), Smoke Flash, and Hibernate. What do you guys think of those?
[/ QUOTE ]
Barring Water Spout, each of your remaining powers has its own draw.
Caltrops is a very nice bit of mitigation. Its DoT is far from impressive but the slow is great. It allows you to exercise a degree of control over the battlefield and can save your life if placed correctly.
Spirit Shark is a fine attack. It's got the standard 80ft. range and does quite a bit of DoT. The downside being that its entirely Lethal damage and the animation time is rather long.
Smoke Flash is kinda meh. It'll eliminate aggro but won't return you to Hidden status. I had it for a while on my Elec/Nin but respecced out of it in favor of Caltrops. If nothing else it looks cool.
Hibernate can save your life in a pinch but Nin offers you a good number of survival tools. That said, its a nice power to have if you intend to PvP or just want a guaranteed "OH SH*T" button to rely on. Kujin-in Retsu's a great power but, as we all know, Defense ain't bullet proof. -
I enjoy both my Kheldians equally but for different reasons.
My Warshade is terrific for large teams and Task Forces. There's nothing like a fully saturated Eclipse or Sunless Mire to make you laugh maniacally as you dole out some cosmic justice. Plus, the animations are ridiculously cool looking.
I grab my Peacebringer when I know I'll be facing particularly hard targets. A good Incandescent Strike to the head will take a chunk outta anything. Also, Peacebringers' steadier performance curve lets me focus a bit more on overall strategy.
SIDE NOTE: Has anyone else noticed an increase in the number of new Khelds running around? I don't know what's up but I'm lovin' it -
In regards to mobs that can still be targeted after exploding, you can usually recognize them by the fires they leave behind. That's a good indicator that the mob simply went through an exploding defeat animation rather than being immediately despawned.
As for the trigger to explode, as far as I can tell it's a random roll that'll go off if above or below a certain number. Nothin' like having a punch of Tarantula parts lyin' around -

Aren't void hunters just kheldians with quantum rifles?
[/ QUOTE ]
No. Void Hunters are Council mercenaries infused with Nictus Fragments (The solidified essensces of Nictus) and outfitted with Quantum Array Guns. -

Wow! Thanks for the info.
I play my Kheld on Triumph. Thanks for the bind. Really helpful
[/ QUOTE ]
Look me up sometime in game @Starsurge. I've got a 50 of each Kheld and I'll be happy to run with you and answer any questions.
[ QUOTE ]
I've used that bind for about a year, and it really saves my bacon sometimes.
This bind will force you to target one of these mobs, though, so one in the distance can throw off your targetting.
Because of this (And my melee toons) I have bound Q to target the closest enemy.
/bind q target_enemy_near
[/ QUOTE ]
I do the exact same thing -
All enemy groups have a chance to spawn Quantum Gunners when a Kheldian is present. They carry Quantum Array Guns that do bonus Negative Energy damage to Kheldians. Void Hunters also carry these weapons but can only be found among particular groups, usually the ones that would be incapable of purchasing the guns for themselves (Devouring Earth, Circle of Thorns, etc.).
I use the following bind to target these kind of threats immediately: /bind TAB "target_enemy_next$$target_custom_next enemy alive quantum$$target_custom_next enemy alive void$$target_custom_next enemy alive cyst"
That little number will turn your Tab key into a Quantum Gunner/Void Hunter/Shadow Cyst seeker while still maintaining its functionality as a general targeting key. -
Keep in mind that Cosmic Balance (PB) and Absorption (WS) work differently. The former is designed to, obviously, balance a team so the nature of the bonuses it grants will be inversely related to the ATs on the team. The latter draws on the nature of team mates so bonuses will be directly proportional. That means a Peacebringer on a team with Blasters and Scrappers will get Resistance and HP buffs while a Warshade on the same team will get damage buffs.
All that being said, both Peacebringers and Warshades do well as TriFormers. Warshades are more inclined to take that route because of their various utility powers whose effects cross forms. Regardless of which one you choose, taking the forms will leave you in a slot crunch until level 31 and beyond. You'll have to make choices as to which powers need slots immediately and which ones can wait. -

Only thing I found out is... there is no Vanguard pants.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes there are. Go to the Rikti War Zone and buy the Vanguard Hips costume piece with Vanguard Merits. Here's the link to the costume page: Vanguard Costume -

I'd rather play a tanker that did about 20% more base damage.
[/ QUOTE ]
Doable with IOs.
I prefer Tankers because I'm not a fan of the Fury mechanic. Makes me feel like I'm being rushed and at odds with other Brutes on the team. That said, I think I'd rather team with a well built Brute because their inherent forces them to keep rolling. Makes for a very brisk pace. -

oh, I upgraded to full account so i can use the Auction house (er wellingtons right? xD )

Congratulations! Glad to have you with us. And it's Wentworth's. This is Paragon, not Waterloo -
Thanks for your replies guys. I was well aware of the clunkiness involved with a Stone/EM. My final IO'd build is set to counteract the penalties as much as possible. Anything else I need to know?

Unfortunately, I've never used the help channel so I can't help you with that.

2) I see people with wings. Is that an option you get when you choose to fly, or what? How do you acquire them?
[/ QUOTE ]
There are several methods of accquiring wings. Most of them have to be crafted using the invention system. Some others come as part of a purchaseable booster pack.
[ QUOTE ]
3)How do you join groups?
[/ QUOTE ]
You can't invite people to a team on a trial account. You have to be invited by others. Unfortunately, you also can't send tells so broadcast is your best option. Click on the small 'B' in your chat window and type something like "Lvl X Archetype LFT". Including your powersets will be helpful as well.

I'm sure I will have many more questions. This seems like a very simple game from the box, but is actually somewhat complicated.

Hey all. I recently rolled a Stone/EM and am having a bunch of fun so far. She's only level 8 but the protection is good and EM adds enough damage to keep me happy. But I'm wondering which APP I should choose when she's at the appropriate level. I'm torn between Energy and Earth Mastery.
I'm familiar with Energy (Used it on my Scrapper for a while). Conserve Power and Focused Accuracy seem like they'd be nice but the set doesn't seem to offer much in terms of its attacks. Earth Mastery has lots of nice stuff like Quicksand and Stone Prison but lacks in direct attacks. So which one should I choose? I'd appreciate any help.
SIDE NOTE: I'm between the two for concept reasons but I'd be willing to pick something else entirely if a convincing argument can be made. Thanks again. -
True to form, Justaris has done an excellent job of explaining the basics of Kheldians and given you the link to Plasma's guide (Considered the unofficial Kheld manual).
As to which one best fits a Scrapper/Blaster playstyle, I'd reccommend a Peacebringer. While Nova form allows both Kheldians to blast, scrapping is a PB specialty. They have two powerful melee attacks in human form. Warshades have a more control centric focus.
However, the nature of Black Dwarf powers can make a Warshade into an effective Scranker. Much of that capability is dependent on Black Dwarf Mire, a self-buff that increases damage and ToHit in proportion to the number of enemies affected for a brief time. -
While I'm sure this violates the forum rules in one way or another, I'm intrigued.
I've got 5 years of coding experience. It's mostly Java and C++ but I know some Flash too. I'd be happy to get involved in your project. Just send me a PM. -
The only Blood Widow attacks that deploy the flat blades are Strike, Spin and Lunge. All the Night Widow attacks deploy them with the exception of the psionic ones.
-
/bind e "powexec_toggleoff white dwarf$$goto_tray_alt 1$$powexec_toggleon shining shield"
You can only toggle on one power per bind so I'd recommend Shining Shield. Smashing and Lethal being the most common damage types in the game and what not. -
The subject of Bane Spiders effectiveness has been brought up over and over again. I'm not of the opinion that they need buffs but I have noticed several oddities that are counter to their role as Defense based meleers. I'd like to get a discussion going as to whether those oddities need correcting and, if so, how to go about doing it. I'll start by listing what I've noticed.
<ul type="square">[*] Banes lack Defense debuff resistance. This is a well known bit of information that some consider an oversight. Compounding the issue is that they have no other means of reacting to such debuffs. Self-heals and other common methods have to be picked up from power pools.
[*] Banes' have higher ranged Defense than melee Defense. For a toon that's intended to stay in melee range, particularly one that's capable of closing with foes without being detected (And therefore reducing its chances of facing ranged attacks) this is counter intuitive and can be very detrimental under certain circumstances.
[*] Banes lack a Tier 9 God Mode power. Other Defense based powersets (Most notably Super Reflexes and Night Widow Teamwork) contain powers that drastically increase Defense for a period of time. Banes have no such capability.
While none of the things listed above are crippling to Banes (At least I haven't noticed any such thing while playing mine), they do stand out as a bit strange when considering the role Bane Spiders are designed to take on. -
I've gotta say, this ain't half bad. From a coding standpoint, it'd be much easier to create a "Fatigued" global debuff than to cut the effect of each power individually.
The exact numbers are very debatable. I'd suggest something like -30% Damage, -25% Recharge and -50% Run/FlySpeed. Those are just rough figures off the top of my head. -
Forgive me if I'm misjudging but, looking at your reg date, I'm assuming you're new to the game. There are no "healing classes" in this game (We don't even call them classes most of the time. It's Archetypes or ATs for short). In fact, trying to make any AT into a pure healer will net you mixed results. The same goes for making a "healer with some damage output."
That said, Corruptors are the primary buffers of CoV. All of their secondaries focus on buffing and debuffing. If you want to have healing capability, take Pain Domination as your secondary. It was advertised as the "Evil counterpart to Empathy", which it kinda is. The set has a bit of a heavier focus on buffing than healing though.
Check out the Guides and FAQs section at the top of this forum to find some Pain Dom guides. -
I play my Fort for at least a few missions whenever I log in on Triumph. The mix of control and damage is amazing and the team buffs really help whenever I form one. Her second build is a Night Widow but the "Kill it! Kill it! MOAR DAMAGE!" style isn't really my thing. I like having some other forms of mitigation.
[ QUOTE ]
I can't get over how much better Veats are than Heats.
[/ QUOTE ]
Personal opinion, I'm sure, 'cause I'll run my Peacebringer or Warshade over my Widow or Soldier any day of the week. -
[ QUOTE ]
Make a Tac Ops. I call it that since people make 'Huntsmen' with a mix of Bane and Wolf. Tac Ops? Full Wolf, never branch to other powers. Take All Leaderships, The Medicine Pool, Fitness and the Mace Mastery Epic. Won't need to worry about slotting any accuracy with that build, rather safe, and good damage with Venom Grenade.
[/ QUOTE ]
Wait...Wolf Spider Tac Ops troops ONLY use the mace. They've got Mace Beam, Poisonous Ray and Pulverize. That's all, no gun. They're more like Banes in training than hybrid soldiers. -
[ QUOTE ]
Robo, that is actually totally wrong now. I13 made PB's pretty damn good. With I14, they are actually better than VEATS.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's kinda funny that you bring this up. I had it in mind to design a VEAT hunter/killer. Theoretically speaking, being able to do that with a PB would hinge on whether or not I could debuff their Defense enough to do steady damage. My first thought would be to use Nova form to rapidly stack -Defense.
To that effect, how have the recent Elusivity changes affected VEATs? Are they still the Defensive juggernauts that they were in i12? -
Hey all. I've found that the PvE game becomes rather boring for me at 50. Guess it's the feeling of not having anything left to accomplish. So I've decided to take my main, a Peacebringer, into the rough and tumble world of zone PvP (Primarily Siren's Call and Recluse's Victory).
Problem is, I don't have a clue what I'm doing. I've really lost track of how PvP functions since the I13 uproar. So I've come here with several questions for the PvP community.
<ul type="square">[*]What set bonuses should I go for as a PB? My first picks would be +MaxHP, +Damage and +Recharge but I'm not too sure.
[*]Will activating Dwarf form still function as a Break Free? With the removal of mezz protection from the PvP game I'm assuming that it won't.
[*]Will the +Perception unique from the Rectified Reticle set give me enough Perception to see Stalkers or should I pick up Tactics? Also, are its effects global? I'd like to slot it into Bright Nova.
[*]Finally, is Super Speed plus a +Stealth IO enough to sneak around in PvP? I'm not looking to be a Stalker but I'd like to remain somewhat undetected if possible.
Thanks in advance for your help.
