New kheldian questions

I just made it to the blue-side 50 club, and have already started a warshade. I've got a pretty good plan for what I want to do with him, but I have questions about a peacebringer.

Since the i13 update, I hear that the cosmic balance works in forms? How much of an effect does this really have?

Does it make it a lot easier to become "exactly what the team needs" because your tank form tanks better with offensive players and nova form blast better with defensive players?

Is it common to use cosmic balance to make a high damage tank or a really resistant blaster?

I hear that WS are usually tri-form and shift very often to get all the bonuses. Should a PB be built to shift often, or are they more of a "pick a form and stick with it" kind of AT?

Is it worthwhile to make a PB on a high population server (like Freedom) for better chances to team?

Thanks everyone!

Cosmic Balance affecting the forms is a big thing now because if you're in a team that supports your PB by giving it more +RES you'd be able to survive more offense in all of your forms. The same goes if Cosmic Balance gives you more +DMG, all of your forms will do more damage.

This means that a Kheldian must be aware of the team make-up before making decisions about which form to take and sometimes, the bonuses from Cosmic Balance are high enough so that sticking with one form, even for a TriFormer, is not only viable but better for the whole team.

Trouble with Cosmic Balance is that to gain certain bonuses from it, you have to be on the right teams with a team make-up that sets up the required bonuses. In essence, if you want to "build" a high-damage tank or a really resistant blaster, you must not only build your own Kheldian in such a way, but you must also hand-pick the right AT's for the proper team make-up and more importantly, keep them around you, because Cosmic Balance bonuses disappear if you're too far from your team!

On my PB, I shift mid-combat a lot when I solo, but on most teams I do not have to, unless it's one of my AKSG teams where we're all Kheldians so each fight, someone else (with Dwarf, or Lightform/Eclipse) may tank and others can heal the tank or blast away at the mobs.

Make your Kheldians where ever you like because I think Kheldians are on the rise now and more people are aware of their potential than before and this means more people wanting to team with them, or make them.

I believe that a Kheldian Gold Standard should be based on SO's, and for anything above that... there's Platinum!

I went dual form. My Dwarfshade is all that I need for soloing, and I only pop out of dwarf to use my abilities that work on defeated foes. It's not uncommon for me, mid fight, to hit My Dwarf Mire, pop to human with an unchain, tag an extract essence, stygian circle, mire, and go back to dwarf.

Now on a team, I mix it up. I'm usually in human form, unless we lose a Melee or two (If the tanker drops, I go dwarf immediately.)

I'll spend most of my time using my PBAoE powers while blasting away in human form if the team makeup allows it.

So really, whatever way you want to go, is golden. I would suggest using your alternate build to make a Dwarfshade, putting most of your slots into dwarf form powers, just to give it a try.

Indeed there is a lot more incentive for Warshades to shift mid-fight than there is for Peacebringers. Even so, my PB still shifts quite a bit mid-fight specifically because some tricks require that, like the double foot-stomp for example.

Keep in mind that Cosmic Balance (PB) and Absorption (WS) work differently. The former is designed to, obviously, balance a team so the nature of the bonuses it grants will be inversely related to the ATs on the team. The latter draws on the nature of team mates so bonuses will be directly proportional. That means a Peacebringer on a team with Blasters and Scrappers will get Resistance and HP buffs while a Warshade on the same team will get damage buffs.

All that being said, both Peacebringers and Warshades do well as TriFormers. Warshades are more inclined to take that route because of their various utility powers whose effects cross forms. Regardless of which one you choose, taking the forms will leave you in a slot crunch until level 31 and beyond. You'll have to make choices as to which powers need slots immediately and which ones can wait.
