Yes, I suppose I will seek out a 10k jetpack - it's just annoying that I have 1:45 left on a perfectly good Raptor Pack that gets grayed out (fix pending or not).
-
It's still not easy, especially when you are racing to keep up with team members. I tried Ninja Run yesterday, and even when successful I might get to the turret when it is already 1/2 - 3/4 down. Nevermind all the times I misjumped.
TP is a little better, though with the walls around the turrets it is also tricky.
Waving from the bottom...that's great if you're willing to settle for 10 threads. -

they need to bribe people to use it as intended (to help overcome inertia)
This is pretty much what I had been thinking. I started out using the LFG tool, but now if I don't want to wait forever I'll just reply to any of the folks broadcasting that they're forming a league (though then you still can wait a while for the team to completely fill). I'd wondered if it would be feasible to give a boost to queue participants' salvage tier chances at the end or possibly extra merits/threads, but other than that I can't see people going back to the queue method. -

Seeds is a must on Plant (also Synaptic Overload on Elec). Was the standard opener on my Plant dom.
I have a Grav/Storm that I mostly soloed, and I'll agree that it is very nice solo but maybe not the best teamed (not bad, but not fantastic). Plant/Storm...I'd never thought about it before, but it intrigues me. -

Quote:That's assuming I know going in what I actually want. It's not just checking the power, it's checking and comparing the eight tier-4s for a given slot, on the fly. Especially the first day this came out, I did not know what all of the tier-4s did (power or percentages), what the differences were in the lore pets were, etc. Heck, I still don't.*If 'plan' means 'check the Incarnate power create tab before clicking accept' then yes I guess you have to plan a bit more ...
* I will admit that I need to assimilate the info on the GR site for these better. It WOULD help a little though if I didn't think all 16 trees were Cardiac Alphas though. -
Quote:I will admit to being guilty of this last night on a BAF league. And I do apologize for it.Still you have to wonder is it possible someone out there, or more than just ONE someone, is actually joining leagues and waiting till they are in the Q to quit so they wind up one player short inside? Are there people with THAT much time on their hands? With nothing better to do than sit around for say 20 minutes just so they can quit your team as you enter the mission? And are they really that dumb that they think 23 people can't handle a BAF just as well as 24?
From my end, I got on looking for a BAF, entered the LFG queue. Saw chatter in the TF channel, figured joining would beat waiting for the queue. Joined, went to S55, and waited a decent amount of time until the league reached 24. Ran the trial, got badges, everything going great.
Figure I'd stick around for the next go-around. I wait, and wait. Hrm, getting late...and the kids are still up. Maybe I can get them in bed while we wait. Check the league. Ok. Check the kids...not yet ready. Downstairs, league still ok. Kids...ah, one has to poop. League still ok. Kids finally get in bed. Oh, someone needs to tell me what spooky happened in one of the Harry Potter books...ok sure, maybe that didn't take too long. *SIGH*, league went in while I was away.
I'm guessing there was maybe a good 20 minutes between when the first trial ended and when the next one started. Had I known that, I probably would have exited the league right after the first trial. But probably a good 16-18 folks looked like they were sticking around, and I figured we'd roll right into the next one. Wasn't the case, as people left, more came, and things didn't go until ALL 24 were filled. I just happened to miss when that happened.
If the trials can go off just as easily with 23 as 24...why do the leaders wait for that long making sure they fill out the whole 24? -
Right - and that's what got me. First successful run and I am presented the Very Rare option. And I'm like, "Wait, what? I don't even have my first slot unlocked yet, I need to quick choose a T4 in something? I uh, haven't planned quite that far out yet."
Actually that brings me to a point about the requirements interface. I'm sure I'll get the hang of it eventually, but for right now I can't look at the requirements for an ability and know which are the very rares, rares, etc. They are all just SuperX or PolyY written in the same font color. If they were identified as purple, orange, yellow it would be much easier to identify them.
"Ok, I might want a Seer eventually. The top two require this purple and that purple. Ok, those are in my reward table - great!" -
The only thing with this vs invention salvage though is that you have to plan better. If I get a Hamidon Goo from a drop and later I happen to find out that I need a Pangean Soil, no big deal - I go to the market and sell one and buy the other. If I get a very rare reward table and happen to pick the wrong piece of incarnate salvage, I've lost a good deal of value - I now have a piece of purple salvage I may not be able to use which would make little sense to break down, AND I still need another bit of purple salvage that I either have to get lucky (again) to roll or have to build.

Hmm...yeah, it does seem to be a bit of overkill. For the Alpha, at least different components were linked to different tasks. If you need something, take a little bit of a shortcut and do that task.
That doesn't seem to be the case here though. And if you haven't planned things out, it can lead to a bit of confusion. I started doing a few trials just for the sake of doing trials (well, and to unlock slots). I was surprised when one succeeded and I got a rare reward table. I had no clue what any of the components did, as I hadn't planned out what to put in any of the four slots (certainly didn't have a plan in place for a Tier 4). So I tried to hastily figure something out before I goofed something up and got left with super insps. Rather tough on-the-fly, especially given the somewhat muddy power descriptions (Seeker who does what now???) -
This is a dumb question...but are there stairs up to the turrets for those w/o SJ or Fly (including those with TP who have a hard time controlling it...)?
-
I've succeeded in four trials so far. In order:
1. Ill/TA, BAF - purple
2. Ill/TA, BAF - orange
3. Grav/Storm, BAF - yellow
4. Emp/Psi, Lambda - 10 threads
I figure next time I will get a rock.
I'm not really sure what else I could have done on any of the first three; my Ill/TA was spamming debuffs, constantly spawning PA, lighting oil slick and basically throwing out whatever damage he had. Same with the Grav with tornado, freezing rain, lightning storm, propel, immobs and holds.
My Emp though spent nearly the whole trial getting lost, shot through by turrets, ganked by robot hall monitors and generally smushed with extreme prejudice. I tried to help the team the best I could, but spent most of the time trying to teleport back from the hospital (I could TP over the walls, but not too well from turret to turret. When I wasn't shot by them that is, so I just waited down below. I wouldn't have damaged them much anyway.)
I reckon the first three rewards were probably random. The last one was a begrudging "ok, I guess we HAVE to give you something." -
Quote:I haven't done the warehouse part to know what the tileset is, but if it's the new warehouse introduced in GR it has always been laggy for me - and that's solo. I can't imagine it with a team. The Praetorian labs slow my computer down some, but not as bad as some of the large warehouse rooms.I'd argue that it IS poorly designed. Numerous people have commented that that map lags them. This is on different comps. An area that's intended to be speed through (I'd argue that's NOT the desined to be speed, and there is nothing to adapt to as the devs specifically add delaying time to the time Marauder arrives EVERY TIME you get one. That right there tells me that they don't EXPECT teams to run through them. I'd argue the extra time is to compensate for the time teams would spend mopping up.) should not lag most players computer's to death. I think the devs said there are looking into it though.
Have to agree though that racing through on a squishy is *not* very fun. My Emp had a real time with it. -
I succeeded on a Lambda with my Emp, and came out closer to the 30% than the 50% (may have been under it, even). Failed one on a team of six with my Ill/TA, and came out over 50%. I'm assuming the difference was one team vs two splitting defeats.
(I have to say too that my first try with my Emp was PAINFUL. I had no clue what was going on, TP was not the best for navigation, and trying to traverse the inner lab area w/o getting repeatedly ganked was impossible. My Ill thankfully has SJ and Sup Invis.) -
Quote:I'd think they would be there for the opportunity of adding any players who entered the queue after the initial batch. Like the timers in the banner events, it's a chance to add numbers. The cutscene is a diversion during your wait (kind of like rides that show intro movies while the group in front of you is in the real attraction).My understanding is that at least some cutscenes are there for gameplay reasons: It's so that the mobs can be set up properly.
Doesn't do very much good on full pre-formed teams though. -
Return of the real classic would be welcomed here too.

I was on a team that got bounced right after attacking the first group in the BAF last night. Was given the option of rejoining the instance, but trying that gave a message that the instance didn't exist.
Also league-related, is joining in-progress working right? Last night on Virtue it took me 20 minutes to actually stick with a BAF instance despite seeing an average wait time of 1m. The first time I tried the queue was with the JIP option checked - nothing. Exited the queue, got placed in an instance within a couple minutes. That crashed, tried JIP again, nothing. Exited and reentered queue w/o that checked, again in in a couple of minutes.
edit to add info for Zwill:
* Virtue
* 16? Around 16.
* BAF
* 11PM Eastern
* Team Up Teleporter -
Quote:Now if they could only get the last guy kidnapped by Council and hidden behind a stack of crates under an array of fish ponds and tucked around a corner in dark shadows guarded by two guys who don't really count as foes for mission objective purposes thing ironed out.
You know when you had to "defeat all mosquitoes in central Africa" or had some equally nonsensical mission objective, but could never find that one last guy because he kept moving around the map when you were busy looking for him elsewhere? Or how about that glowie that was hiding behind a stack of crates obscured under some tangled weeds and tucked around a corner in the dark shadows? Thanks to Issue 17, the Last Mission Objective now lights up on your map like a distraught Christmas tree begging, "I'm over here, and I don't like this any more than you do!" -
I just ran my first BAF trial on my Emp/Psi, and while it was confusing at times (nevermind the battles - just getting used to targeting and the new team/league interface) and we ultimately lost, I don't really mind.
I made 31% progress on my Alpha slot, picked up 7 threads, and did so with a minimal investment while staying relatively inconspicuous. Sure it would be nice to succeed (we made it up to the dual-AV battle), but if I can make progress even with failure I don't mind. It's much less painful -- and much less draining -- than failing a TF. -
Blue for the regular city zones is ok. I'm not thrilled with the two I've seen, but they're all right.
Blue frame for Oroboros though? Bleh. I don't like it. -
I think I could put together a pretty balanced team with my blue-side 50s:
Inv/EM Tank
KM/EA Brute
BS/Regen Scrapper
DB/WP Scrapper
Grav/Storm Controller
Mind/Kin Controller
Ill/TA Controller
Fire/Fire Blaster
Ice/MM Blaster
Emp/Psi Defender
Ok, that's two too many. I'd probably bench the Ice/MM and the Inv/EM.
I'd only have enough for a team of five red-side:
WM/Shield Brute
Night Widow
Plant/Thorn Dom
Merc/Pain MM
NRG/Kin Corr
Not a bad start though, and I should have an Elec/Sonic controller to add to that mix soon enough. -
I completed the mission on my Elec/Sonic. I did get sent to the hospital once, but defeated her after the return trip. I can't remember all of the details of the fight, but I'm sure having access to both a confuse and a location-based sleep helped.
-
It depends on the character. BS/Regen, Grav/Storm, likely +. WM/SD, Plant/Thorn, Fire/Fire, Ill/TA, probably x.
Those I'm actively leveling:
Lvl 26 WS. Actually leveling at -1x0 right now. I was tiring of finding +1 groups that had Voids/Qs in them (or for some newer content, ambushes), or having a +1 Death Shaman summon +2 Dry Husks. I am starting to feel like I am turning the corner on upping mob size to feed off of. Bosses off.
Lvl 38 AR/Dev. On base. I went to bosses but came back after encountering Shock Treatment (ambush) and rezzing Freak Tanks. Not having them seems a little easy at times, but having them is a little tedious with having to lay mines, etc. Dunno where I'm heading with this one.
Lvl 31 Elec/Sonic. Also on base settings, but with the confuse and the area sleep, I know I can handle larger spawns, which also benefits Conductive Aura. I have bosses off, but playing him earlier today did feel like facing scaled-down Lts was kind of pathetic. I think I'll go x2 and bosses at least when I get my gremlins.
Overall though, I don't see a need to press difficulty sub-50 like I used to. More mobs on the way to 50 = more drops, so no real need to up +. Fewer mobs per mission = more tips and arcs, so no real need to up x. -
Quote:Likewise. I've started two characters in Praetoria and will probably start two more there just to run those arcs (haven't done the two extremes), but that might be it. I'm just not sure I have the concepts for more*.Praetorea's nice and all, but my take on it is that it's something I experience for it's own sake. From a concept perspective, I have absolutely zero interest in having all my future characters hail from Praetorea. I create Praetoreans because (a) I want to experience the story arcs there and (b) I specifically decided that I wanted something that has its story origin in Praetorea.
My core concept for character origination is Primal Earth. I don't mind having some characters from Praetorean Earth, because that's really not much weirder than a few of my characters who ostensibly have roots in Primal Earth.
I dusted off an old level 8 tank the other night and actually found it to be refreshing. I even took him to the Hollows, something I hadn't done with a character since oh, 2005. I don't mind the lower levels, there's something comforting about doing some early street-sweeping in Galaxy, then Steel, mixing in newspaper missions and an arc here or there. I spent a couple of years focusing on villains and had gotten a little tired of the Isles. It is dingy, and after a while I do get sick of Arachnos.
My perception is that Gold > Red > Blue on the difficulty scale, at least solo. There are dangerous mixes of foes in both of the first two that seem harder to avoid than blue-side.
* I do wish we had the ability to create any AT in any starting point, especially after the shiny of Praetoria/side-switching has worn off a bit. I'd like to take a level 5 MM around Galaxy, or a level 10 blaster through Port Oakes.
