I wouldn't think so myself. One attack on auto fire doesn't do as much as a full attack chain being actively played by a determined scrapper. Just the fact that you couldn't pull some of the mobs off the scrapper, who was only running RttC, says to me that a scrapper probably could hold all the aggro if they really tried.

    Two things confuse me still.

    1) Where the wiki says "Attacks made after the Taunt is applied have their Threat multiplied by 1,000 * Duration ... [etc. rest of formula.]" If that's true, how do I pull aggro the first time I taunt? Because I haven't done damage after the Taunt was applied, and yet mobs almost always veer towards my tanker doing the Taunt.

I wonder if the initial Taunt itself is counted as "damage," thus giving the Tanker (or other taunter) a head-start on "damage" by 2,000 - 4,000 points or so.

    2) Ditto on the "pull aggro during an AV fight with Taunt." This shouldn't happen on an AV during a long fight. It seems inconceivable that a Tanker could instantly switch aggro from another toon, without doing damge, with just one Taunt, in a long fight, even multiplying by 1000. Yet it seems 100% reliable. I wonder if cumulative damage is what's being multiplied by 1000, not subsequent damage.
  2. Yeah, Pocket D and Rikti War Zone are the easiest.

There's a submarine in Independence Port (this is the long way).

You could also use one of the portals in Nightward or Praetoria too.

Of course, Valve also has like at least 10x the resources that Paragon Studios has, so I doubt there was ever a realistic chance of beating Valve to the punch on this one.

    Aaron Thiery

I believe you may have out-leveled him. It happens. What level are you now?

If you are level 8 or higher, the only way to continue the game is to find another contact. On your Contacts window, there should be a button labeled "Find Contact." If it shows you a new contact ("You do not know this contact"), you'll be give the option to Teleport straight to them.

If that doesn't work, head to Kings Row. Find your Dectective (either Freitag or Becktrees) and run their police radio missions. You get a nice temp power at the end if you can prevent Atlas Park Bank from being robbed.

    Finding Chars

Yes, if you didn't use your old account name and password, you get a new account. There won't be any previous characters there at all.

Contact support if you need to remember what your old information was. If you still have an email address attached to the account, they can probably recover the old one for you.
  6. *crosses fingers* I still need Triple Threat.
  7. I have this badge now, thanks to you hosting these Trials Amygdala! But I can bring a toon to help out if needed. I'll poke my head in while it's forming up to see if you need more bodies.

OK, I signed up. I should ask: I can do these as a Vigilante, yes? I didn't have time to get all the morality missions to go full villain again on my badger.

    Help please

This is what happens when you "make the browser the operating system." I blame Microsoft.

Just curious: would a random drawing be a better idea? For example: take all comers for 12 hours, then pick 100 folks to receive a code? That at least relieves the need to constantly refresh.

I see your point. I'm going to counter that neither of us knows NC Soft finances, but that in general it's possible to be profitable, but yet not profitable enough to justify the effort. If one is merely making one's money back, what is the point?

(Ignore for the time being that banks are paying pretty durn close to 0% interest, and that for a safe investment "your money back" is about the most you can hope for these days.)

The point is profitable or not, CoH's contribution to NC Softs bottom line is likely pretty small. I'm sure Guild Wars and a few other things need to take priority. It sucks, but if we want to keep CoH around, it's best if all of NC Soft's properties make as much money as possible. So for the time being I'm willing to put up with it and hope that GW has a good launch, and they fix the web problem Soon(™).
  12. EDIT: ah ok, there it is, weird corner case = brightest white. Stuff happens.

Are there other options that might be "corner cases?" Do you have a weapon for example? What power pools do you have?

For a while I couldn't change my costume on my master mind. There was a bug that prevented Robotics (which has a pulse rifle weapon) with Mace Mastery (which has a weapon too, the Arachnos Mace) from saving. So weird stuff like that can mess you up.

It might be a particular piece in the costume creator too, I suppose, that is preventing you from saving. Try saving your costume, then reload it to make sure it was saved. Then change your costume completely to something like "bare." Change your power colors too, and see if that sticks. If so, it was one of the costume pieces. You might have to play around with it to figure out which one.

I will: City of Heroes makes about 10% of what Lineage and Aion do, and fixing these bugs is lower down on NC Soft's priority list.

Personally I think folks here should be glad that NC Soft has invested as much money as they have in City of Heroes. Things like game resources are much more important to me staying here and enjoying myself than having two ways to log into my account. I get frustrated as well, but as long as I can use my account somehow it's not a total disaster.

While the web interface is nice to have, there's a work-around that is acceptable. This is just the way triage for bugs in software works. If it's got a work-around, then it's lower priority than other bugs that don't.
  14. I had this problem yesterday, and so did some others. There's some posts by Zwill about it, iirc.

Short answer: stuff is being worked on, and might be a little intermittent. My problem clear up after a couple of hours. Check back later; if it persists you might have to contact someone.

If you're going to go that route, don't forget VEATS can double up on Tactics. It's base +10% each on my Fort. I assume it's similar for Soldiers.

VEATS are not common blue side at low levels but they're around. I don't think doubled up Tactics is common either, but I did take one power (the Tactical Training version) on my Fort. It's handy while leveling in mid levels, +ToHit is nice while you're still slotting your powers.
  16. Was anyone using Hybrid for the Hard Way? You didn't call for it so I didn't use it, as I assumed you might be testing something. But now I wonder if you were expecting us to pop it on our own.

Villains do sorta kinda have access to Maria's arcs. They can go rogue and run Maria's arc. Yes, I know that's not at all what the OP wants, but it is a solution of sorts.
  18. The problem is I think that less than 30% of the customer base plays on Red side, so trying to make new content there is kind of a losing proposition.

What I think would work is allow Heroes to visit Red side for new content. I think at least some of the population would like to voyeuristically visit Red side but doesn't want to go Vigilante, so there'd be interest in sneaking over to Red side just as a Hero. This way there could be new content for Rogues Isles but all of the players would get to experience it.
  19. I think it was more like the folks who were active during Freedom launch and had the unlock got them permanently. Not sure why. Database hick-up or intended feature, but I think that's how it worked.

    Quick Question

I think he spawn when you kill enough of the Devouring Earth giant monsters in that zone. So Hami will now be there until a raid drops him.

I personally am not a fan of Casino Heist style gameplay- usually anything that requires me to read something and follow instructions to complete ends up being a dismal failure and just frustrates me.
Partially this, and also I didn't like being segregated from the rest of the group. I don't like being stuck in the vault going "are you done yet?" over team chat. I'd rather have an objective that only I can touch, but still be able to follow along with all of the other action. Interaction with teammates is still a big deal. Make sure too that others can follow me as well. If I must go in a separate room, make sure there's a big window so the rest of the team can watch my action.

Overall I give Casino Heist an A+ for effort, but the final result only gets a C. That's ok, the devs tried a new thing. Sometimes new things don't work out. This particular formula of mission needs a fair amount of tweaking before the devs can just clone it and stamp out others of the same type. But I'd encourage them to keep trying, as I think it has a lot of potential.

Yeah all you folks from Virtue can put your tights back on now. We don't do that on the forums, kthxbye.

  23. One thing though, I find I don't manage my MM pets that much. Yes, when the going gets tough, the Masterminds issues a lot of commands. But most of the time I don't have to do that.

Put pets on aggressive, put pets on follow. That happens about once per spawn. Or less, if things are really going well, I can just leave pets on aggressive for a whole mission and they're fine. Occasionally I issue a command (follow, usually, sometimes attack).

Bots do good damage though, and are pretty tough, so I might be biased. I tried Ninjas and Necro, didn't find those as easy to deal with (played neither to very high levels though).

It isn't a bad idea to start a new toon and level it up again. That way you at least get to see new features a few at a time, like a new player would. Play the new tutorial, do the intro missions in Atlas Park or Mercy (Villains). Find out what "DFB" is. Etc.

There's no reason not to unlock your 50's and play those too, but having a couple of new toons too could be fun. There's a lot of new power sets available so you can play the same old ATs in new ways.
