OK, well I don't think the OP was talking about existing trials, he meant new ones. AFAIK, the LFG queue will pull everyone it can, although if you have a Rogue or Vigilante in the "wrong" zone, I don't think it will include them, although I could be wrong.
  2. My problem with immobilize is it doesn't do anything to curtail ranged damage. Whereas a almost any corruptor secondary will provide mitigation across the board. That doesn't make Doms or immobilize bad, it just means the that say Fearsome Stare is rather better in most situations.

Immobilize is nice in a large group, where you have a couple of damage soakers (Tanks, Brutes, etc.) and a couple of AoE damage dealers. Round 'em up, lock 'em down, burninate. If you immobilize a spawn while solo you're going to eat a large number of ranged attacks. That can be hard for some folks to adapt to.

That can't be correct. I know I've run trials personally with well over the minimum number of folks to start, and people in the queue were also added. I've been added personally to Trials too, and I could see that there were more than the minimum required.

Maybe after the Trial/TF starts, or maybe TF/SF only, but for new Trials I'm 100% certain that's misinformation.

Regarding the OP's question, I don't know specifically. You might have to test it. I.e., get a rogue, have them stand in Cap and enter the LFG with "any". Kick off a DD in Dark Astoria, see if they show up. Etc. There might be some content where it depends on both eligibility and location. As a Rogue I can't be invited half the time and have to switch to a blue or neutral zone first, so it might be similar for Trials and TF/SFs.
  4. Here's a level 50 Staff/Nin build for my character Litchi Ling. It requires a respec from my post above. It has soft-capped defenses before Guarded Spin, and as much End bonuses as I could pump in. It has some additional recharge but nothing off the hook (no perma-hasten). My goal is to skip Cardiac and go Musculature instead.

The only thing I'm really unsure about is Kuji-In Retsu (Elude). Powers with a crash don't thrill me, and while it could be a nice boost once in a while I'm concerned that it's really a waste of a power pick. Maybe Hasten would be better even if it's not perma.

    Thoughts welcome.

  5. If you go, say, Fire/Thermal Corruptor, you'll have a ranged damage dealer and a buffer. It has no melee afaicr. I believe that Dominator secondaries have melee like blasters do, although Dominators are pretty much my area of least expertise right now.

The other option is to go say Fire/Dark and colorize the secondary so it looks fire-ish. You might try looking at some of the secondaries in that light. A little imagination can go a long way.

Don't forget about /Devices or /Traps. Those are all non-melee, decent team support and might not clash so much with your concept if you can find a reason to be using gadgets.
  6. OK here's basically the build I have now. Remember this is a leveling build. I'm thinking of adding Maneuvers at least, Kuji-In Retsu (Elude), and then 2-3 Epic/Patron Pools. Any thoughts?

  7. I also have a Staff/Ninjitsu Stalker. She's level 37 and it's time to start thinking about pools for me. Do you mind if I hijack this thread slightly and ask about the various trade off for Epic Pools/Patron Pools for Staff/Nin?

I was thinking something more damaging for Staff/Nin, like maybe Darkness mastery or Blaze Mastery. Is endurance still and issue that Phys Perf. and Sup. Cond. are needed?

I don't have a lot of high level blue side toons so I'm kind of unfamiliar with the epic power pools. Would say Leviathan or Soul be any better?

I'll try to post a build soon.

    Freebie Friday

Yeah, I actually just used up the 20 charges of patrol XP temp power thingy on my Staff Stalker, so this will help.

Is this the patrol XP version or the "you have one hour to level as much as possible" version? I can never keep them straight by their names alone.

As I think they've mentioned about a hundred times already, that would require engineering (programming) support.

Their current give away just requires someone log into the store and set the cost of an item to zero. These are astronomical distances apart in terms of time, resources and the different teams who implement them.
  10. Don't forget that we now have a second build. Visit a trainer, choose Train to New Level of Power, choose the 2nd build option.

You'll keep all your IOs in your current build, and effectively get a respec that you can choose new slots and then add SOs to your build, which work for anyone (free and VIP).

This is where I usually go. The police station roof itself is low enough that you can jump on top without a travel power, and from there jump on other roofs nearby that have clockworks on them. Used to be very handy when we had to wait until level 14 for travel powers.

    Props

Amy and her krew are a wonder, certainly. I feel somewhat bad just hanging out on trials while she does most of the work, but as long as she's happy to run the trials I'm happy to just cruise along.

(I assume it's "she." I've never seen her correct anyone saying that.)
  14. Yes, while there's the occasional valid gripe about the way the whole Freemium model works, over all the devs have done a good job and bent over backwards to be fair to players.

Esp. on the free end. If you spend a bit (or have already spent a bit) you get a very nice play experience. 5 to 7 toons is more than some games used to give even to paying players.

I'm positive this is for Issue 23 and not live yet. I.e., in 3 to 6 weeks there's be a big download and then you'll have the /lfg channel. For the OP, when that happens, please switch advertisements for teams to /lfg instead of help, as a lot of folks like to keep the channels for their intended purpose so folks can use them efficiently.

As a returning player, you should have had 3 to 5 global unlocks floating about for you to use to unlock a few of your characters. If you had previously used those unlocks, they're available on that server only, but they can be used on any character, or even an empty slot. Look on the very top left part of the character select screen. It should tell you how many global slots (not sure if that's the exact wording) you have. When you go premium, this will increase slightly.

Look around on your most played servers. Any server with extra character slots (more than 12) is a good candidate for a server with global unlocks.

To unlock, just click on the character and click Next like you were going to log in. If the character is locked, you'll get a pop-up asking if you want to spend an unlock on it. Be aware that an unlock is permanent once assigned, so only pick characters that you'd really want to play as a premium.
  17. Yeah, the Help channel is easiest if you are Premium (which you seem to be). Advertise for teams there.

If you have access to /tell (i.e., at least two reward tokens), you can use the /search window. Purple text means that person is a group leader; send them a tell and ask if they have room for you to join. (You can send them a tell directly just by clicking on their name in the window.) The /search window is the same one that you get if you go to Team (on top of the chat window) and if it's empty there's a big button labeled "Find Members" and click on that.

Even if you don't have access to /tell, the /search window will at least show you how many people in each zone (up to 50), and you can try going to more populated zones in hopes of finding someone. Again you might need to use the /help channel if you don't have access to /broadcast or other types of messaging.

If you have 5 or more reward tokens, you can join your sever's global channels. This is probably the best way over all.

Good luck, and post back if you are still having trouble.

I'd add to this and say that #'s 3 and 4 (actually 5 and 6 I guess) are:

    3. Get on your server's global channel(s) for Trials

    4. Run as many as you can with lots o' other folks.

You didn't say that you were solo, so I assume you're willing to team up at least part of the time. Dark Astoria is fine when there's no teams forming, but teaming is definitely the way to go if at all possible for you.

That may be obvious but I'd thought I'd toss my two Inf. in anyway. Toodaloo.

    ^ This.

It's hard to believe that if you did play before you don't have the rewards tokens you need. It's possible, but you had to basically just buy the box and play for one free month to do it. So the most likely case is something is wrong.

Check your reward tokens. Log into your character in game, and select Paragon Rewards from the Menu. If you only have one token, you made a new free account by accident, and you'll have to try to remember your old login name and password. NC Soft support can help you recover a password.

If you have 2 to 4 tokens, then I think you can use /tell to talk to folks, but you won't be able use broadcast or the global channels. You played for one month before, or had a six month subscription or less. This is unfortunate, but to reduce potential spam they do prevent you from using a few channels. Two to four tokens isn't bad though, as /tell is a big deal, and the newer global channels aren't strictly necessary to play the game.

If you have 5 or more tokens, you should be able to use any form of chat. If you can't, and the players on Help can't figure it out, contact support.

Regardless, everyone can use the help channel. (Use /hc in the chat box, or clicking on the Help tab usually switch you by default, although it's possible to configure your chat so it stays in some other channel.)

So you can use the Help channel to ask questions about your rewards and such, and you can also use that as a "broadcast" to talk to folks, get teams, etc. It's not impossible to play with low rewards, just slightly sucky.

If I unlock my Mastermind character would I be able to play him? or will I have to purchase something again? Also if I unlock a character then delete it, will my server unlocks go up by one or will there just be an empty slot?

Just thought I'd add here: the MM unlock is permanent on your account, and global. You pay something like $10 (I forget exactly, it's $10 or $12) but then Masterminds are unlocked for you on all servers, for as many as you want to play.

If you're sure you want to stay as premium and play without a subscription, I think a couple of unlocks are a pretty good deal and can really add to the whole "Premium play experience."

VIP is the best deal in the long run. But if you're interested only in the short run, unlocks will make your experience better.

I also thought I'd add: you have 36 slots now on each server. Rather than unlock and delete the Mastermind, just use the scrollbars underneath the character selection, find an empty slot, and unlock that. Then you always have your MM to come back to, should you decide to play Masterminds again. You can also re-arrange the character list by dragging and dropping, so any characters you currently play are easy to find.
