  2. If you're going to be a close range blaster you'll need some sort of defensive capabilities to keep upright just like how melee toons do it (although admittedly without Mez protection though blasters do get the cheesy pew pew pew -T1/T2 while mezzed).

    This is what my namesake blaster's build looks like (yes I still have Acrobatics on the build) so that you can sorta gauge what you want to build. Tactically the other thread (in the scrapper forums) has alot of info in it already.

    You can see that I in my build I have focused primarily on capping to S/L Defense. I'm actually pretty happy with it but as always there is room for iimprovement so I've been trying to build a layered defensive (a good amount of Ranged DEF atop a resist shield) strategy but I havent been quite happy yet with what I've come up so far.

    Here's what I came up with so far. This build has no purples/pvp IOs and while it has sets is really a frankenslotted build as both DM and DA are slot intensive.

    Roughly 32.5% to S/L DEF / 12 points of KB protection / Decent amount of recharge.
    Mitigation tools include Darkest Night / Touch of Fear / Oppressive Gloom
    I skipped Shadow Punch and would use Boxing as its replacement (while it is not the exact same thing it does almost comparable damage).

    Aside from the KD component of QS how attached are you to it (I like the KD component) ? Could you use boxing as an alternative?

    If so, kindly a look at this build - hopefully you can draw some ideas from it. I didnt really have time to compare all the builds numerically but this build is keeping in mind when you RSK down. I took Hasten instead of QS (since Spring Attack has a longish timer) although you can certainly take Confront (which can situationally have use). This build has a low amount of recharge though but positionally should be ok (44.9% to M/46.1% to R/44.6% to AoE). I suspect max HP is down but End REcovery may be comparable to your other two builds. I also know that you are returning player so I tried to keep costs in mind (hence no pvp / purple sets)

    Also, have you considered reposting this thread in the Scrapper boards where it should garnish more views? Lots of smart peeps there (like yourself).

  6. Yup those are good. Besides the Glad Proc pvp IO (which is hella expensive) the only other thing would be a couple of two Membrane HOs or SHOs to stick into Active Defense (to boost your Resistance to Debuff Defense).
  7. What was the cause of the original ET change?

    Was it maybe too many people complained about being two shotted too quickly in pvp zones?

    Personally, I think they should retract the ET change (just give it back its old animation). Hardly anyone pvps anymore in any zone except Freedom and with I Trow A Big **** Fish at you available to lol stalkers at 35, would it really make that big of a difference?

    (and for the record I have an Pompoms/Ninja/I trow a big **** fish at you lol stalker but he's on champ so I spend more time looking at Mids and doing back flips in Sirens/Warburg/RV)
  8. Winters Slow Resist in SJ / Kismet Unique in CJ / Miracle Unique in Health. I honestly didnt see any benefit when I had a second Performance Shifter +chance for End on tank (but again that's limited by my experience on my Icer). Me, I'd probably just 3 slot Physical Perfection (with the Numinas) and stick an additional End Redux in AAO. YMMV

  9. I'd probably go Dark/Dark/Soul - Gloom is awesome. I have Soul Mastery on both of my high level brutes. I've played both DM and DA just not together. Let me see what I can draft up for you.

  11. It looks like a permahasten build but I'll be honest I dont understand why there are no big powers that need recharge (like AM or DP). Personally I'd go for a layered defense build (Ranged DEF atop Resist shield) or aim to softcap to S/L using scorpion shield (assuming that does not break concept but looking at the toon name probably would not work).
  12. Check out this build (expensive though)

    HF has a downtime of 4 seconds when Hasten is not running / Hasten 121.5s (essentially perma) / Attacks are fully slotted - and you have additional mitigation tools (BoI which is nice those pesky Sappers) and a well slotted ranged attack (Ice Blast).

  13. W7(64) / HD5770 - I had no problems until Tuesday's patch. The problems I am experiencing are rendering (like missing heads body parts during character creation) / game will inexplicably crash with no error other than application hang (usually while zoning). Originally I had 11.5 (which I had no problems with) I've tried 11.11 and 11.9 with no success. I've completed uninstalled all ATI / Catalyst software and have installed 11.10. I'll try it tonight when I get home which I hope will resolve my issues. Thank you for for this thread and maybe my feedback will help someone else.
  14. I would probably go with hover type of blaster especially with Energy Blast and use the KB from the attacks in my favor or directionally (to a wall or into tripmines or into the Caltrops etc)

    I've always found Timebomb a bit too finicky for my use so I never took it other than on Test (way way back when a bunch of us tested its functionality).

    Having a perma pet would be a boon and should be feasible (see build below)

    The lack of buildup is only an issue if you let it be. What I mean by that is - if you watch another Energy/Energy Blaster go Aim Buildup and then go to town with his/her melee attacks you may get Buildup envy (which is what I had) but if you appreciate the tools that you have and enjoy your set then it wont bother you (especially since you have already played a close range blaster).

    My very first 50 was Energy / Devices which only currently I think exists on Test (if they havent wiped him off already). Back then there were no renames and server transfers when I rerolled into an Electric / Electric Blaster. This is probably the build I would have went with which seems to fit perfectly as the original concept.

  15. Ugh yesterday I typed up a longish post and then of course the boards went down. At any rate this is what I would recommend for your build - 32.5% DEF to Ranged atop a Resist shield. I also added Superspeed to help getting in position for FBreath and FBall combo. I removed Inferno (you can just as easily launch a volley of FBreath / FBall / Rain). This build should not be terribly expensive and you can run SSAs and AMerits for the unique IOs.
