MY Dark/sr stalkers were allways fairly handy in pvp and pve, though I never tried them in pvp above Sirens call.

Big appy new year to everyone on Onion heroes!!!!
Its been a good year, with only a few smatterings of the usual idiot frothage in atlas, and I have had great fun playing my War-squid Damsel-fly (not to be confused with my scrapper Damselfly).
So hope you all have a good year this year, and see you all in-game -
Happy new year fellow Deviants
(or should that be defianteers?
).
Overall its been a good year for me on deviant, some fantastic teaming and met some great people.
finely managed to get Spurr to lvl 50 which was fun, and discovered the blasting joy of a bubbles/dark defender (Dr saurian).
Lets keep up the spirit for the new year and beyond -

You may get some use out of it pre-endurance recovery power. After that it's useless and only rewards poor play.
[/ QUOTE ]
Agreed. It's about the only inherent I can think of that runs contrary to your role.
[/ QUOTE ]
Defiance encourages bad play, Vigillance rewards it, questionably, I have never found any use for either in PvE past hollows level.
I actually don't think either AT needs a massively powerful inherrant, but something basiclly useful for doing your job in a team well would be good.
[/ QUOTE ]
Those are both fairly sweeping generalisations regarding old defiance and vigilance.
Vigilance does not "reward" bad play, it provides a boost that might be helpful in bad situations...And not all situations where it is useful are caused by "bad play".
I found that it worked well on skilled blaster teams, where I could keep all the blasters red-lining and benefit from the end cost reduction as a result.
I've said before that the argument that certain abilities "reward" bad play is akin to saying "life belts reward bad sailors"....
Perhaps what would be a good change for vigilance would be a defender version of dominance..
A progress bar that is increased by the use of your powers on your team/enemy, and that when activated provides res Vs mezzes along with the normal end reduction cost...or maybe once activated it acts as a team wide purple, granting an immediate but shiort duration mez resistance/removal? -
I'm fairly recent to the world of Kheldians mysef, and have not managed to spend much time on my PB as I am spending my time with my WS and other ATs.
The one thing I would reccomend is to not decide on what "type" of PB you want to play until you have seen how your play style fits with the AT -
I have my bottom tray as my switching tray specific to each form (so trays 1=Nova,tray 2=Dwarf, tray 3=Human), The middle tray is my travel powers and form change powers, and the top tray is perma left as my human powers so I can see when things are cycled and ready to be used

Set Bonuses can only be in effect if the power they are solotted in is available.
Non Kheldians, this simply refers to exp, emplaring down and loosing the power... but with Kheldians it also applies to from shifts, since your Nova powers are unavailable to use in Human or Dward, those bonuses are not applied in Human or Dwarf.
Your recharge time being slower is probably due to spending less time in a form with the Set Bonuses in. Only Set Bonuses in the Dwarf Form, and Nova Form toggle will apply at all times, meaning with the right +res set in Dwarf you can permanently be at -5% recharge... everything esle will depend on the form you are in at any given time.
So if you intend to spend your time in Nova, slot your prefered Set Bonuses in there, or if your gonna be in Dwarf, slot your prefered set bonuses in those powers instead.
[/ QUOTE ]
Bah, was hoping this was not so
Maybe its something they should change, really does seem like a pointless handicap for kheldians. -
I've been hearing this "cysts dont hurt kheldians" story a lot recently, I was in a team and pointed out that with a full team on invinc we might start seeing some cysts and was told not to worry they dont hurt Khelds...glad we never found any
-
Having even more fun with my Warshade now, there was a bump in the early 20s where I thought it was starting to get annoying but then I got Stygian circle, and dear lord is that fun
I can see why so many people only play one or two forms of their kheldians..The solidness of the Black dwarf is soooo tempting, but I am sticking with mine as a tri-form.
Its fantastic to be able to step up and meet head on most situations you encounter in a team, give me some kind of heal other power and it would be perfect
I really should sort out some form binds at some point though :P -

There is a known bug/exploit that others can use if people do not use hide in a zone.
[/ QUOTE ]
really? what is it, ive not heard of this one -
People going on /hide is annoying I also tend to not stay in a zone if noone is in there, so in my opinion any "tactical advantage" that might be gained by useing /hide is pointless.
I must admit though that it is not as annoting as people who dont have "enable hero/villain chat" switched on.
I just dont see the point in staying in a zone if no one is talking to each other -

Ok thanks very much guys i think i am sorted now. I wouldnt mind if there is anymore info on the ice power pool if thats ok
[/ QUOTE ]
You mean the epic pool of ice?

But....
Sonic has no long range "Snipe attack" power, like other sets, and sometimes that extra range and high damage attack can be usefull.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thats what boostrange is for
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah thats one of those /em powers I have not got on my build, though I was thinking about dropping my epic powers for the few /em I never took. -

Castle's already said that a homogenous bar won't work with Newfiance.
But I sure as hell want something other than blast icons, hell, give them a UNIQUE icon at least.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is the key thing for me, I would like Blasters to be their own working unique archetype.
Not what is now starting to look like an afterthought with an emergency fix stuck on it.
I have enough status icons filling my screen as it is, I like my UI to be clean and easily readable, not a headache inducing mess of random icons that may or may not be attributed to our inate abilities.
Instead of pushing this through test I would rather they sat down and made it all a complete and unique package that helps define blasters, after all we have lived with Defiance for this long that a few more months really is not going to make much of a difference surely? -

Hi i am an Sonic energy blaster and i want to ask some opinions on this build as its my first time on CoH and i am enjoying it so far but i am scared incase i end up having a messy build and do wick at PVP and PVE basicly i want to know if Sonic/En is any good and is there any other builds you would recommend?
Thanks
[/ QUOTE ]
Someone mention sonic/em ?
Its a great combo of powersets, my first character was a sonic/em blaster and he works well in pve and fairly well in pvp.
As powersets go Sonic has some powers that are fairly situational, a cone sleep attack, and a cone knockback power.
I find both are amasing tools in pve as they allow some control of mobs and can provide valuable "breathing" space if soloing.
But in teams with a lot of "area of effect" powers the sleep is pretty much useless, and teams which like their herding tend to ask for the Knockback power to not be used too.
The key powers for me though I guess would have to be:
The first two basic sonic attacks.
Shout--The high damage short range attack, very nice power.
Screech-- The high power but low damage stun/dissorient attack.
Combine these with the high damage/stun attacks of the energy manipulation set and you can keep Elite bosses chain stunned.
But....
Sonic has no long range "Snipe attack" power, like other sets, and sometimes that extra range and high damage attack can be usefull. -
I am finding my bubbles/dark defender amasing.
Very aggressive to play, much like some of my corrupters, and primary buffing powers that you dont have to keep using every few minutes which is great.
Its such a nice change from playing empath, to be able to run around swatting stuff, safe i the knowledge that you dont have to buff your team for a few mins..And that you're not stuck to their [censored] like a poor empath. -

I play grav/storm(50), fire/rad(50), ill/emp(31), mind/kin(21) and working on many others but to lazy to qrite them all down but the thing you need to stack these days to get someone held but they just walk away or regens that are held and you are throwing everything that you got and they regen it automaticly. Also new sets for scrappers, how about controllers? The EU servers are dying everyone is leaving, I wonder why O.o
[/ QUOTE ]
Strange I do recall seeing a post of yours where you were saying how your troller can take down tankers.. Frankly if you can do that then NO you are not underpowered -
[ QUOTE ]
I would so be up for this!!!
Stalkers could use a buff for PvE.
[/ QUOTE ]
Do they really need one though?
I have had no problems with my stalkers in pve that I could not eventually defeat. The only big problem I have on my stalkers are AOE effects but even those can be resolved. -
Here's my union characters that are not doing much at the moment.
Character: Astral Viper
Server: Union-Hero.
Plot: None, part of an existing mission based role-play group.
Character: Damselfly
Server: Union-hero
Plot: As Above.
Character: Damsel-Fly
Server: Union-hero
Plot: As above.
Character: Summer Boy
Server: Union-hero
Plot: None. -
Dont be so defencive in your posts, people are just pointing out that stalkers are not that bad really.
Sure they can be a pain if you are solo, or if you get hit by group of stalkers working together but that is TRUE for every archetype.
I managed very well in zonal pvp without taking things like the med pool or leadership. Your best defence is mobility and good reflexes.
But what I normaly do have is a totaly different power tray setup from pve.
What you need to do is look at what is giving them the oppurtunity to hit you, keep an eye/ear out for the tell tale sound of a stalker powering up and only use inspirations then to save on usage.
Another thing is how are your powers slotted?
I was not overly effective before I took time to look at my slotting.
So far I have not pvp'd with any of the so called "Stalker hunters", as frankly I hate playing one trick horses, why hunt stalkers when there are the major threats like Brutes, dominators and corrupters lurking around?
My main zonal pvp character isa Sonic/em blaster, it was the first character I ever made and despite not having any leadership powers or med-pool powers could hold its own very well in pvp in all zones.
The main problems I would have would be preventing the stlakers escaping if they were doing hit and run tactics, some of them I would be allmost unable to hit with my dissorient power as the mez would not stick.
Mind you that was only really the case if I was going for a stalker that was attacking someone else, if it was attacking me, my massive damage attacks were more than enough to scare the stalker off or defeat them. -
Last kheldian I saw in pvp just used tp-foe, but that was a long time ago.
-
I personaly would not have any problems with it, using the third reich/NAZIs is as much part of "super hero" comics as dressing up in spandex.
The only problems I can see really are those that infest a lot of forums on the net... A very mouthy and immature subset of society are totaly unable to discuss the second world war, and the third reich without resorting to over the top cries of offence.
Often when they have no reason to be offended or even understand what the hell is being discussed.
I used to post on another forum (current affairs, history, science, religion, politics) and it became impossible to discuss elements about the second world war without swarms of idiots dropping in and mouthing off.
I blame a lot of it on "Godwins" law. -
Joined a team earlier in Grandville as my mastermind Mercy Knight, but got hit hard with lag and pc issues causing me to crash not long after we entered a mission and aggroed a mob by accident.
Just thought I'd post a quick sorry as it looked like I caused a team wipe.
On the plus side I have found out what was causing my pc issues (some of my anyi-spyware programs were clashing with my anti virus software ) -
Been struggleing against AVs with my Mercs/Poison, though that might just be down to slotting, its an old character and one I never really put much thought into slotting with :P
Its mainly lack of damage that is hurting me, even with my -regen my minions are still taking a damned long time to take certain AVs down. And combine that with AV self heals and flangey "untouchable" powers and it can all go bad so quickly
The key things are I guess:
1-Make sure you can do some -regen.
2-Dont let your minions bunch up, keep them seperated so AOEs dont get them all.
3- most top tier minions can tank the AVs if supported with a heal power, I never take the medicince pool on any of my chars, but I respeced it back in for my MM just to augment the poisons heal power. -
The first mastermind(and one of my first villains) I created was a Mercs/poison, and I still play him now.
Poison is an awesome set and it has everything a person needs except a self heal.
But that is no loss, as I have a gealing minion to keep an eye out on me if needed not that I get injured that much anyway.
Poison trap is perhaps one of the lease used powers I have, its not bad but as its name would suggest "trap" its very situational.
Would I drop it?
No It still gets use, so far the only power I have dropped has been "serum" in the Mercs set..Not that was a pants power.
If people want the power from the traps set, then play /traps. Dont expect a totaly different set to be the same.
When I can no longer walk up to an AV and plant the trap behind him while my minions are wailing in him/her, thats when I will drop it -

Ok Hates your the only other group that isn't comprised of self centered mercs and petty thieves. But your still not a classic evil organisation. Your anarchists XD
Your classical evil organisation wants to rule the world for some simple ideological reason such as: "We don't like democracy". Which is GLEE's general attitude
[/ QUOTE ]
But why is that evil?
Its a valid politcal viewpoint held by quite a few nations of the world.
