  1. For those wanting to honestly help,

Put yourself opposite them, so they can see your speech bubble.

Ask in local, "If you want help, jump." Be aware of enemies that immobilize and prevent movement.

    Drop inspirations on them.
    Buff them.
    Heal them.

2nd pick is non-damaging enemy debuffs
Ice patch, smoke grenade, transfusion, taunts, fears effects...

All these will not leech xp, but may get you yelled at by the player who doesn't know better.

Finally, if things are looking tight, you could wade in swinging. I'd suggest you get their consent before you do.
  2. Potential Mewb Experience:

During a lvl 20-30 Task Force, a Lvl 40+ Peacebringer left about 2/3rd through, because he wasn't getting xp, and needed to get to level 50 for PvP. No Vet badges.

Later that day, I was on a different character, and I found him by Agent Six, the Natural Store, in Founder's Falls. He was standing by Agent Six long enough that I figured he wasn't just dumping stuff.

I send a tell, guessing his intentions: "If you are looking for 45 SOs, you can find them at the stores in the Rikti War Zone, Cimerora, or Peregrine Island."

His response, "Can you get xp there?"

    My answer, "Yes."

I've never PvP'ed much, but I forecast nerdrage when this guy tries it.
  3. EB Games. That's where I got mine.

If they don't have it, ask for them to order you a copy in.
  4. O.o

Yes, that would make sense. Thank you Mateo.
  5. Also, the Safeguard/Mayhem missions are not available via flashback. You'll have to find someone at the appropriate level and accompany them.

The flashback versions of some powerful temps are "echo" versions, and not as good.

EDIT: As pointed out by Mateo, the original poster will be doing radio missions exclusively, so getting the temp powers and badges from the Safeguard missions shouldn't be a problem.
  6. Thirded and Fourth'ed. Fight if you like.

I, similar to The Animal's advice, ran like a frightened four year old into his mommy's arms.
  7. The grind...

I've experienced it while on some Shard Task Forces (Dr. Q, I'm looking at you!), occasionally the Positron Task Force, and farming Master Illusionist Pets for the Arch-Mage accolade.

Repetitive activity for an ingame reward, which makes me bored and irritated. In other circumstances, without that carrot, I'd call it a day, and do something else. But that damn carrot...

Or, I've gone this far, so let's just finish it....

However, most of my time in City is grind-free, as I find something interesting to do. That activity may be repetitive, but as long as it entertains me, I don't mind.

If it's entertaining, the reward can be inconsequential.
  8. Notepad. Or any word processor that can search for a text string.

Don't Giant Monsters like Adamastorbator pop up at very long ranges?

Also, there should be a zone event message saying he's showed up. Keep an eye on your server's badge channel as well.

    End game in CoX?

    http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showflat....=1#Post13537054

Yes, there are many interesting, rewarding and challenging things to do with a level 50 character. It's kept my first 50 active for over three and a half years.

    End game in CoX?

In addition, are you asking, "What do I do with a level 50 character?"

Or "How are you still playing after 4.5 years and multiple 50s and still can't get enough?"

The game doesn't start at 50. It starts at 1. Enjoy it. Play. Explore. Experiment. Compete. Socialize.

    End game in CoX?

This question has been asked many, many times. And answered many more times, with a wide variety of opinions and options.

The goal of a game (never mind the end-game), is to have fun. So, do what you find fun. That can differ from day to day, hour to hour. Whatever works.

    That is the game.

    That is the end-game.

    I am the leader

If you're going to delete it all, it's less work to leave it as is, and perhaps one of the other members will inheirit it, and have some fun.

Or, if you return, you might find it untouched.
  13. You now have Vista, but previously had XP Professional? Or the other way around?

Did you upgrade, or do a full wipe/install?

Try using a wired mouse for a while. Signal interference could be causing the jittery wireless mouse. Also, if the mouse is usually part of a keyboard/mouse package, the interference could be causing what the wireless receiver interprets as keyboard input as well.

    Soloing guides

Paper missions are randomly generated, giving one-shot villains, and a build to the mayhem missions, which can be filled with enemies, and temp powers.

Regular contacts provide multi-mission arcs, which may involve more travel time, but provide end-of-arc xp and merit rewards, and more involved stories.

AE missions can be all over the board, no travel time, mostly ticket rewards, and can range from easy to stupidly hard.

I'd suggest moving between them as your fancy strikes.

I usually try to get the mayhem mission for each level bracket, as the temp power rewards are pretty handy.

Overall, I do what seems like fun or is interesting at the time. I think there's enough variety to avoid grind.

AE doesn't use patrol xp, correct?
  16. Are you level-pacted to someone? Do you have a running day job that gives an xp bonus?
  17. Currently entertaining me is elec/elec blaster, and fire/shield scrapper.

The blaster, I tend to shout out his attacks, anime-style. Occasionally I affect a very bad japanese accent.

    Power Questions

This could be power customization, where you can change the appearance, colour, or animation of a power in use. Power customization is on a lot of player's wish lists, for certain.

You've got some very evocative names there, and probably some really good ideas on what the animation would look like.

Unfortunately, the staff have limited time and resources, so they cannot do everything, and have to pick the best return on their investment. They've already said that power customization would be very difficult to do.

Creating another fire-themed set would probably be lower priority than proliferating existing ones, or creating a completely new powerset with minimal thematic overlap with existing ones.

"Everytime I get a good idea, someone brings up the budget!"
  19. This is very ambitious, and interesting. I wish you the best of luck, and will try to see your work, but I have to admit, there are many, many AE stories that I have listed as "To See".
  20. Mutants and Masterminds from Green Ronin, based off the d20 system, but goes in all the right directions for fights involving dimensional shifting, supersonic punches, and chucking mountains at each other.

Short version: Straightforward fights, flexible hero design, emphasis on fast action, and well-written overall.

Point build, no classes. Many archetype examples given for typical hero types. "Level Caps" exist to minimize stacking munchkinism. (GM attention is still required to prevent players from layering multiple defense types)

Alternate Powers allow heroes to use an ability (like an ability to generate light) in a bunch of different ways, such as dazzling opponents, nauseating them with strobes, or outright blasting them with lasers.

No Hitpoints, you have a toughness save which allows you to resist damage.
No damage roll. Damage has a set number you do a toughness save against. Thug punched you? Save against 15. Omegaman hit you with the Molecular Phase-Destroyer? Save against 35.

Hero Points/ Extra Effort allow you to reroll dice at critical junctures, or use your powers in strange and weird ways.

Little emphasis on battle grids. When you have people who can teleport miles in a moment, or run at Mach 1, you'd need a big map.

Full-size rulebook in hardcover. Pocket Players Guide available for $15, black and white, contains all a player needs to know.

Genre guides, such as Golden Age, Hero Highschool, Iron Age, Book of Magic, Agents of Freedom, besides being well-written guides to RPing in various comic genres, also contain valuable primers on comic book history, occasionally contrasted with real-world history.

My favourite superhero RPG. Can you tell?
  21. Blaster secondaries?

    Devices: More slows, immobilizes, debuffs.
    Ice: As above.
Fire: Don't know it well enough
Energy: Good for any blaster, but with knockback, good for kiting
Mental Manipulation: Don't know it well enough.
  22. I'd first suggest you make your post title informative of your actual question.

    "Ill/Rad's best blaster buddy?"

Illusion will do Psionic damage, Rad will debuff opponents and accelerate your ally. An early pet group of the Phantom Army will act as aggro-control and DPS as well.

A mental blaster may take advantage to the lack of resistance to most enemies against psi. However, if you find yourself against a psi-resistant enemy, you'd be in trouble.

An ice blaster has some holds and slows, allowing more containment and control versus tough enemies, and can still do damage. The blaster could swing between control and blast behaviors based on your opponents, or even use dual builds with that in mind.
  23. If you lure away a zombie and defeat it, it brings Mortificators.

Zombies without Mortis, Reapers or Eidolons tend to be pretty helpless. I've noticed that as well.

    The Freaklympics

When the convention was located in Crey's Folly, I was a little suspicious.
