No Architect Edition in Canada?
I've saw a few copies at EB games when I was there the other day I'm in Ontario..
"And for us this is the end of all stories, and we can mostly say they lived happily ever after. But for them it was the beginning of the real story. All there life in this world and all there adventures in Narnia had only be the cover and the title page: now at last they were beginning Chapter One of The Great Story which no one on earth has ever read: which goes on forever: in which every chapter is better than the one before" - C.S Lewis, The Last Battle.
If you can't find a copy, you can always burn a DVD of your own. Just drag/drop your COH folder to the DVD burner's staging area.
If you need to reinstall, it's simply a matter of drag/drop from the DVD you made to the drive/folder you want to install to. Then copy the updater to your desktop, run it, point it to where you copied everything, and it'll check the files and download whatever patch it needs since you prepared the DVD.
Here's a batch file that you can actually run FROM the DVD to do all that. It assumes that you're installing to the default location, of course.
COHInstall.CMD (copy/paste lines below into Notepad and save as this file. Drag/drop this file to the DVD burner staging area.)
<font class="small">Code:[/color]<hr /><pre>
@echo off
if not exist "C:\program files\City of Heroes" mkdir "C:\program files\City of Heroes"
xcopy /e /f "City of Heroes\." "C:\program files\City of Heroes"
copy "City of Heroes\COHUpdater.exe" C:\
Echo When the Updater program runs, allow it to install to the default location: C:\Program Files\City of Heroes
pause
c:\cohupdater.exe
del c:\cohupdater.exe
</pre><hr />
"City of Heroes. April 27, 2004 - August 31, 2012. Obliterated not with a weapon of mass destruction, not by an all-powerful supervillain... but by a cold-hearted and cowardly corporate suck-up."

Has anyone been able to find the Architect edition on the shelves in Canada? I would like to have an up-to-date DVD copy of the game for when/if I need to reinstall.
I have checked both Bestbuy and Futureshop. They have all the other major MMOs, but CoH is curiously missing. Amazon.ca has it, but it is overpriced at $29.99 CDN. Newegg.ca has it listed for $22.99, but after ridiculous shipping it is even more expensive than Amazon.
I won't need the DVD if the upcoming Rogue expansion comes with the first 15 issues. But I read that you need to already have CoH/CoV to play it, so I kinda doubt that it will.

I've seen it my local EB but not at FutureShop or Best Buy. However, if you just want it for back up purposes, you could just burn a DVD or copy your game directory to an external hard drive. Bill Z Bubba has a guide on "Moving CoX" that explains the process.

Haven't seen any here in Calgary yet, but I've only been to a few stores since it came out. I wouldn't mind picking it up if I ever see it, but given the downsizing of local pc games sections in local stores, I dunno if that'll happen.
EB Games. That's where I got mine.
If they don't have it, ask for them to order you a copy in.
www.paragonwiki.com is a great source of information for this game.

Thanks all for the useful info. I didn't know it was so easy to make your own back-up copy. I think I will try EB Games first. I still need the cyborg pack, and it is cheaper with the free month from the Architect edition.

The week after it came out, I was downtown here in Toronto, looking for a copy.
I tried Futureshop, with no luck.
I tried Best Buy, with no luck.
I then went to EB Games in The Eaton Centre to pick up a timecard, and mentioned that I was looking for Mission Architect, if for nothing else than the extra month. The clerk mentioned that they had copies of that, so I bought that instead.
To he honest, I have to agree with the comment about the downsizing of PC games in various stores. In fact, there have been times when I've asked about a computer video game, I've been sent over to the console gaming section.
I'm guessing it's more because companies know that in order to play these cool games, you not only need to buy their consoles, but more often than not various accessories. (As opposed to a PC game, where all you need is your keyboard and mouse.)
As far as I can see, those accessories are more trouble than they're worth. I help out at an afterschool homework club, where among the various games we have is a Wii console. We have all the sports accessories, along with two steering wheels, but I think it's been months since anyone has even tried to use any of them. All of us find it easier to play golf or tennis without them.
