Have you:
Re-built your base yet? ;
Yes, almost done, now have the biggest plot available, Fulcrum got his wish too, the Art of War nightclub - Peppermint Hippo
Made a Captain America Clone yet? ;
Ill make a shield toon at some point but I prefer originality, there is a lot of that about and thats what impresses me more, seeing something original and new.
Converted your salvage to brainstorms yet? ;
Eros is our main base commander/builder so all salvage was dealt with by him...he's been having fun though bless'im
Lost a crafted item behind a base wall yet? :
Nope
Petitioned a Captain America Clone yet? :
Live and let live, if they wish to do so fair enough, but as I said this game has a lot more originality than folks get credit for, so the "clones" as it were dont bother me enough to care.
Converted your brainstorms to salvage yet? ;
See the reverse Q above ^
Earnt a merit yet? ;
Quite a few, running with my two new lowbies ...troller and MM...the early arcs seem to give them out quite well.
Done a boring TF just for the merits yet? ;
I consider a TF "boring" dependant on the team, ive done a Positron with the SG and had a riot....and yet run a Moonfire with PuG ages back and it was AFK central
Done a dual build yet? ;
Yes, loving the implications for the VEATS and khelds...plus made an exemp sub 30 build for a few toons which is another great feature to use it for.
Done a respec yet? ;
Yes
Realised you should have done the dual build after the respec yet? ;
N/A
Decide to not play a character just for the day job yet? ;
The time stacks anyway so ill plod along with my altitis as I always have done...makes no difference. -
Sad to see you go Saph, has been fun teaming with you in the past and your "no nonsense attitude", damn you make me giggle from time to time, have fun in whatever you get up to mate, adios amigo

I never stated that I agreed with everything and found that a lil' patronising mate
[/ QUOTE ]
Err, no, not really patronising, but some non-programmers just don't seem to get the idea that some bugs are extremely complex and difficult to lock down, or even prove the existance of!
When I come over abbraisive, it's usually on purpose. Patronising is normally not. Sorry.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hey no need to be sorry man, I totally see your point on the side that some comments are made from time to time with disregard to the complexity of the matter in hand, suggestions/bugs etc etc, my point was some people just dont profess that they have inherent knowledge, its the ones that do that I sympathise with your ire towards them, hence why I wince whenever someone says "it should be easy to...." no one really knows but the programmers themselves so a "would this be implementable..." would suffice more.
As for the patronising thing its more my bad wording, I know your style is a little harsh but always honest..wouldnt have you any other way Birdy -

I see the OP's point however, it is quite irritating to find the same old bugs rearing their ugly heads time again
[/ QUOTE ]
I totally agree, and the 'things stuck in scenery' bug needs fixing, permanently.
However, mapserver problems? Crashes?
Do you guys have even the slightest idea how many things cause that kind of problem, and how easy it is to have them added into totally new code?
Did just notice this and find it funny:[ QUOTE ]
but the game will die if the basics cannot be gotten right in the first place, particularly with competition that is fresh
[/ QUOTE ]
If you think CoX is buggy, I strongly suspect that CO and DCUO will make CoX look like it's been sprayed with a broad spectrum insecticide.
(Sadly, long gone are the days when debugging did actually involve a big ran of RAID...)
[/ QUOTE ]
In regards to the "do you guys..." quote, I never stated that I agreed with everything and found that a lil' patronising mate (dunno if you meant it that way, I know you come across abrasive at times but I severly doubt its intentional...just saying)
No not everyone is a genius in coding etc, I myself for one have a vague smattering of knowledge hence why I will never utter the words "it cant be too difficult" etc etc what I was referring to was the fact that there are certain bugs that are irksome in their repetetive recurrance, on the other hand mapservers/crashes etc are as you stated caused by a multitude of effects that are a part and parcel of tinterweb gaming.
And I totally agree on the last paragraph, god I remember the first day of Tabula Rasa, buggy??? a horde of locusts from god himself didnt come close
(in essence ive spent 15 mins typing a ramble when ..."that seemed harsh however I agree" would have sufficed....I need to find some actual *work* to do
)
-
I honestly saw the "shouldnt be too difficult" line and just pictured Birdy's head exploding in apoplexy, the very words to ruffle his feathers (pardon the pun
)
I see the OP's point however, it is quite irritating to find the same old bugs rearing their ugly heads time again, however its a damn sight better in the overall spectrum of things compared to others, yes irritating but at least they do (at the best of times) get adressed to some extent. -

Seeing as I got that many on all my toons, i got none left to do that on!!!
Damn my OCD!!!!!!

Simple mate, make another toon
That or seek help, and if you want, ill take your cumbersome badges off your hands, stryke has 400+ he can carry a few more mate, you know, just to help you out
On a serious note I know what you mean on the not-playing-to-get-badges side, however I think shadowes' point is valid, its a good excuse to spread yourself across your toons, although in your case Sal, you have more badges than a Boy scout convention so I dont know the solution for you other than cold turkey -
Greetings and salutations!, welcome to the game - and the forums, I hope you find the game to your liking, we have a small but wonderful community here, if you ever need any help/advice etc in game pm me @stryke or on the forums, ill be happy to help, as im sure will many others here
good hunting -

I've come back to my Broadsword/Regen - apart from fitting in nicely in Cimerora, I love the solid "thwock" sound upon unleashing a Headsplitter. It's also a very good toon for early morning/late night gaming when there are few people around, since she can happily chew through Invincible minions, LTs and Bosses without assistance solo or in small groups. Larger groups tend to need a good stock of purples and the occasional wakey...
[/ QUOTE ]
Well for that reason is why I love my BS/WP scrapper (Warscythe) had a major hand from Eros on the build - posted it a while back the defense/dam res is silly, not focused on upping the damage side as im happy with the burst on BS anyhoo...headsplitter/disembowel combo is lovely (get a double crit through two foes and its a religious experience I kid you not) plus add in parry for those "cant touch me" moments and its a wonder....the WP side is great for just focusing on the attack side...plus multiple foes just bumps up Rttc to silly lvls, I actually get withdrawal symptoms when not on that toon
As for memorable moments far too many but one recent one was a full malta mission in PI, the team take out the sapper but then get split by ambushes, im left then in a room with a combined titan,a regular herc, 3 operatives 2 gunslingers and a named boss, was still stood there slapping the leftovers when the team re assembled a few mins later (by no means am I disrespecting the team, it was my sg fellows and all great players but was one of those where you get scrapper lock and realise the team went down a diff corridor ...doh!) just love that toon. -

Has anyone else been getting odd private tells that have only a few letters and no name to reply to?
For example I received a tell like:
[tell]: tein
and
[tell]: ing
[/ QUOTE ]
Had exactly the same issue, fragmanted tells with no sender name, I had last recieved a tell last night off ML, then got that fragmented one...unable to see the user who sent it I hit return to reply directly back...to be returned by a confused ML who hadnt sent the message and was also wondering why I was on hide...which upon checking my status I found I wasnt, then proceeded to ask the SG guys on our team if they were suffering similar issues, Rex Eros and Fulcrum had the same issue and also could see I was on hidden even though my screen showed me as fully unhidden.....yay for bug central
(p.s I think the fragmented tell issue is on the bug report iirc) -
Well the art of war "were" having an Uber Christmas event but we have decided to turn it into the Uber New Year event, for many reasons, some of our core members having heavy work loads, and the fact ill be getting on one knee for the missus on the tenth so will be away from the game for a while (dont ask me why im just feeling a short mental spell
)
But the events are in place and the money for various competitions is being hoarded as we speak, just in the new year rather than this month - more details will follow (after ive recovered from the shock of what im doing)

It appears, Lionsbane, that you are the only one who doesn't like this. Your one arguement, that it is too hard to IO both builds, is easily outweighed by the numerous other reasons people like this. Added to the fact that you are more than welcome not to use it and only IO your one build, then you lose nothing except the benifit of having a build better suited to PvE that the PvP one you have.
Saying people would like both builds to be powered up, surely it's better to have 2 builds, one 'gimped' that is suited to PvE and one 'powered up' that is suited to PvP than only the one PvP version that is no fun PvE?
[/ QUOTE ]
I can only agree with this, I understand Lion having his issues with it but as Dig succinctly put, the dual build is an option you can use it if you want, I for one will be, not on every toon mind but for those that I would like to see with different options, now not all my toons are pvp, in fact only one is (see my previous post) the rest are purely for fun and multi teams etc, and thus only Warscythe has full IO's which I bought through inf earnt from teaming/tf's, not one cent farmed, so it is possible.
But again it comes down to the fact that if you choose to use it, then you can, if not then dont, I do see that folks like to max out their toons yes - but it doesnt ultimately require an uber expensive build to do so....as for the Pvp side...I freely admit that builds have a certain advantage over non IO sets, however a good IO build doesnt have to cost billions of inf for purps etc.
This is always going to be a fractured subject imho, but if its simply a question of the dual builds killing the game I really dont see how...its an option, like whether you choose to have 5 costume slots or just the 1...it has no bearing on the game other than to satisfy your personal needs, you take it or you dont.... -
[ QUOTE ]
The game is now easier that it was pre i9, meaning that an SO PVE build is even more viable than it was then. You don't have to IO BOTH builds in order to play and be effective, although I fear amongst the games population there is the "I NEED TEH PURPLEZ" mentality, which could make people see farming as even more of a necessity than they do now.
Perception of a situation, whether real or not can be a powerful force.
[/ QUOTE ]
I have to agree with el'rat, for example I currently have a very very effective build on my main scrapper.
(with a huge thanks to Eros for it I asked and he delivered....I was an average pvp'r before and now im an average pvp'r with a better build...its like wearing body armour to stop you getting beat up by 10 yr olds - I dont get hurt but im still rubbish under it all)
The build is formidable in solo PvE but an absoulte wonder in PvP, with its high survivability I have been able to have masses of fun in the Zones.
Now the build is fairly a cheap one revolving around a little frankenslotting...not one purple in sight, yet the def is almost capped for most areas....however I have lost some powers I liked for PvE that I had on his previous build.
The dual build option means now that I can slot a secondary with a more team orientated feel and ill just pop in regular IO's as I had before - which were v.effective in PvE....and at 50 all I have to do is run missions/arcs/TFs and gain the regular IO's as pick ups without having to overspend.
So to wrap up I see it as a good thing, I dont buy into the "need" for purples, yes they are nice but with some shifting around you can work in a very good build without having to spend millions per slot.
(this is only my experience and im not saying it applies to everyone I just find it a very useful tool, and no I dont farm before you ask)
-
[ QUOTE ]
Just a question. Is this a deliberate change or a bug?
I can see it being an annoyance if the team scatter for some reason or someone goes afk.
Before now a team could proceed regardless of where everyone was. This change/bug will result in alot of standing around waiting or an increase in fiddling around with reinviting.
[/ QUOTE ]
As far as im aware its a deliberate change to prevent fillers, and as I stated it is by far from the end of the world as teaming goes just an irritation.
However if it is another change to prevent farmers dont the devs realise they wont stop it?...they nerfed the family mish iirc to balance out risk v reward...farmers got around that...they introduced merits as a reward but also to combat fast eden runs etc for random drops in under 20 mins, peeps will find their way around that...im constantly impressed by the ingenuity of farmers to circumvent the blocks that are put against them.
Now im not into that side of the game myself but to restrict the casual aspect of regular PvE'rs out there who allow players to do their own thing, seems a little odd.
Dont get me wrong this isnt a "no fair" post...im just saying that we (our sg) run casual style team runs where if folks want to meander off and lvl/shop at WW while the rest carry on with the missions thats fine, and if its in the same zone it wont be a problem.
However I dont want to have to start coming down on folks if they want to go to the base/rezone etc etc...I like a nice amiable atmosphere in my teams.
....meh just gonna have to stop Rex from hassling wentworth employess after every mission -
Yeah that is all cool when your running lower missions when 9 times out of ten you are in the same zone, but my point was the fact that in my experience whether in a full SG team or a PuG there is always someone off leveling/WW shopping (one of our SG members is addicted to that place
) or maybe even slow loading, it just seems a bit overkill...most teams would just get on and steam through the missions as per and the player who is off doing whatever can catch up...Im no tyrant and allow players in my team to do this as long as it isnt going too far.
By no means am I saying this is the end of the world...far from it, it just seems to be a bit irritating to be limited to how casual you can run your team or TF.
Last night was indicitive of this..Rex had just made a new toon and was on his way to the hollows to meet up with us on our lvl 10's so on the way he was setting up a few things on his toon (this is usual we dont mind in our SG teams) but it meant that everyone else had to stand around waiting, which in turn had Rex apologising for holding us up
....the fact is..he shouldnt have to.......
...let him take his time - its an MMO not boot camp lol.
(methinks ive not had enough coffee yet...still in rant mode sorry folks)
-
Unfortunately you cannot even enter the mission to activate it as per the old way...
Tested it with our sg last night, 3 of us were on lowbies in the hollows and another sg member had just created a new toon (none of us shields...whod've thunk) so was in atlas, we continued on to the mission and then got the "you cannot enter" message....the only option was to quit the team enter then re invite everyone...now that is damn irritating.
I understand its to prevent filling etc etc, but what about the times when you are on a roll and there are peeps out of your team off lvlng...getting new enhancements...I understand theres a lvl option and stores in most zones, but there are the hazard ones, the fact that at later lvls you are split between Bricks and FF over origin stores.
Or as Shadowe and Tsumi said, what of the times when you invite new people...so you have to hold the whole team up now?...I never used to mind in an 8 man team if one or two wanted to hop to WW etc as we could carry on regardless...not anymore...just an irritation that due to the devs single minded desparation to stop farming that others suffer for it.
(on a side note, I myself do not farm but I dont care if others do....it doesnt affect me or my team-mates/global friends etc ...we team / we level / we have fun...meh...its my mid week rant)
-
Bleh....whats £5.99? I lose more than 5 times that on a friday night easily.....
To some I can see they may have gripes and what not but consider this, we are still at the moment getting free issue updates, cryptic iirc only signed up for 13 issues to release as free, now we are at the moment showing as i14 being another free update ((if im not mistaken here...im sure ravenswing will correct me on a great many things...im just going off my faded memory)) so if thats the case then £5.99 for what is imho a really spangly cossie set is what I would happily fork out if that keeps us getting the issues for free.
But money issues etc aside, I really like it...dont get me wrong its a bit over the top as a whole piece but with imagination each part could mix excellently with other existing pieces, for example the enforcer set is in my opinion too much as a full costume but individual parts combine well with others...looking at it though the shoulders and the boots are something ive been waiting for...that whole segmented plate look..mmmmmmmmmm -

And I agree with ML....subtle
Also nice to see some arcane goodies coming along though I wonder what the silly power will be to match self destruction..any thoughts? -
Thank god for that, couldnt make it last night either, but here is my thought, if you are not in the supergroups aforementioned what then?...if poss could i bring along a few of my cohorts from the art of war?...not rp based but have a core of v.experienced pvp players....i'd hate to miss out just for not being in an RP sg.
-
(edit. this info is based on the union server)
Well the New Heroes Union or the Vigilants are two that spring to mind...if it is RP based help you require the best people on the forums to contact would be;
@Ravenswing
@Floatingfatman
@Lady Arete
@Zortel
@Shadowghost
To name but a few, im a part time RP'r myself but nowhere near as accomplished as those above....but if it is simply a well established, fun and friendly SG, I could recommend our sg the "Art of War", in the top ten Union sg's, we run tf's regular arcs most evenings and there is a raft of old school players on who are happy to lend their time for anything you need.
Whichever route you take I hope you find what you need and have fun while doing it
PM me ingame @stryke if you require any assistance
(ps welcome to the forums)

.. yes Stryke.. sadly there has been some mayor non-badge talk. (A little is ok.. but)... Time to bring the teleporter spell to Union Chat, when it gets too wild.
Hope it begins to be less now.

I can only see the new badge tracking system in i13 will cause mass discussion and help those "how many more do i have to kill" questions....but I only worry that the merit system that is inherent to the tfs come the new issue will also take over, ahh well such digression is to be expected and it is tf related...which in turn is badge related...thin linkage but meh
Still on the whole sals does tend to be a well run and freindly channel full of great peeps who are willing to help new players and vets alike....(apart from some idiot called stryke...ive heard he is more useless than a chocolate fireguard)
-
I for one congratulate you on another milestone in your life, do they have a vet reward for your time served yet?
(least your not as bad as fulcrum, he is measured in carbon dating only now)
Honestly though, happy B.Day FFM -
well ive been privvy to some major non badge related chat on sals, but 9 times out of ten it is badge related but as per Aretes comment, tfs are always advertised on there, sal himself will offer up his many runs of ITF/STF/SSTF's etc so why anyone would chastise you for following the examples of everyone else who uses that channel is beyond me bud
