Mission Select in I13
yes, very much so, its rather daft - and what about task forces, especially Numina, how the hell is that going to work!?

Hmm that is a pain. I would have suggested in that situation to kick that member, select the mission, and re-add that member. But that won't work for TF missions.
That sounds like a pain.
Pre I#13 if you entered a mission when no team mission was set it set that mission as the team one. Can you still do that to set the mission? Might be a way around the problem.
Are missions in TFs going to work in the same way?
Many of the missions I can remember have either the missions in the same zone, if you have to go to the contact the mission is automatically selected when you receive it or the mission is selected for you because its classed as a follow on.
(Separate question)
If you are at the mission door but haven't got the mission selected are you unable to go into the mission?
Unfortunately you cannot even enter the mission to activate it as per the old way...
Tested it with our sg last night, 3 of us were on lowbies in the hollows and another sg member had just created a new toon (none of us shields...whod've thunk ) so was in atlas, we continued on to the mission and then got the "you cannot enter" message....the only option was to quit the team enter then re invite everyone...now that is damn irritating.
I understand its to prevent filling etc etc, but what about the times when you are on a roll and there are peeps out of your team off lvlng...getting new enhancements...I understand theres a lvl option and stores in most zones, but there are the hazard ones, the fact that at later lvls you are split between Bricks and FF over origin stores.
Or as Shadowe and Tsumi said, what of the times when you invite new people...so you have to hold the whole team up now?...I never used to mind in an 8 man team if one or two wanted to hop to WW etc as we could carry on regardless...not anymore...just an irritation that due to the devs single minded desparation to stop farming that others suffer for it.
(on a side note, I myself do not farm but I dont care if others do....it doesnt affect me or my team-mates/global friends etc ...we team / we level / we have fun...meh...its my mid week rant )

So in a big team we just need to make sure everyone stays in place to select the next mission before leveling etc.
When recruiting we need to select the mission before looking.
All easy things to do once people realise the changes are needed, BUT IMO a flipping pain in the bum, idiotic and NOT required.
"Normally, we would have just got on with the first mission of the evening, but because of this change we were unable to select the mission that we wanted to do, or any mission at all."
I can understand how that would be frustrating. Whenever our SG run missions together, there is usually someone powering up on buff powers in the SG base, or levelling, or 'stocking up' at a store somewhere. However, they rendezvous with us in mission... it perfectly logical. This new 'change' seems like the first thing that needs to be changed back. I13.1, anyone?

The changes to mission selection in Issue 13 have now started causing me a bit of grief.
For anyone who doesn't know what I mean - you can no longer select missions for your team until all team members are in the same zone.
This seems like a step backwards, to me. To be unable to select a mission while everyone is out of the zone may effectively block Filling requests (which aren't all that much of a bother, even if I, personally, never take them up), it has made it harder (albeit marginally) for groups who happen to start in disparate locations.
Case in point - last night, I was in my weekly 'Fender Frenzy team on Defiant. Our team leader invited everyone, but one team member was busy in another zone for a few minutes. Normally, we would have just got on with the first mission of the evening, but because of this change we were unable to select the mission that we wanted to do, or any mission at all. This left us waiting for the busy team member before we could begin, and delayed our start by a good length of time.
Does anyone else feel that this change is more problematic than it is worth?

This sounds very annoying to my playstlye. I often have a mission up as soon as come out of previous mission, as i not one to hang about when selecting missions.
if now i cant select missions without having all members in the same zone, or by going into the mission entrance, then this will greatly slow down play. Folks as you say can go afk, some go off to sell, enhance etc. dont see why the team should have to wait on taht one person who maybe a slow zoner or not in same zone as team.
This indeed sounds like a step backwards to the play style we all are used to
I hope the devs pay attention and give us this feature back to us.

As I recall, you need to wait for everyone to exit the current mission. They should now be standing beside you, so selecting the next mission will be fine, they are all there, the the same zone as you.
People like you are unaffected. It's folks who wait while everyone runs off into the distance that have a problem.

They only have to click exit, not actually be out, but that means if someone is having loading issues they won't be in that zone, but you would still need to wait for them to load before choosing a new mission.
Oh... the pain of waiting a few seconds. My heart bleeds.

Yeah that is all cool when your running lower missions when 9 times out of ten you are in the same zone, but my point was the fact that in my experience whether in a full SG team or a PuG there is always someone off leveling/WW shopping (one of our SG members is addicted to that place ) or maybe even slow loading, it just seems a bit overkill...most teams would just get on and steam through the missions as per and the player who is off doing whatever can catch up...Im no tyrant and allow players in my team to do this as long as it isnt going too far.
By no means am I saying this is the end of the world...far from it, it just seems to be a bit irritating to be limited to how casual you can run your team or TF.
Last night was indicitive of this..Rex had just made a new toon and was on his way to the hollows to meet up with us on our lvl 10's so on the way he was setting up a few things on his toon (this is usual we dont mind in our SG teams) but it meant that everyone else had to stand around waiting, which in turn had Rex apologising for holding us up
....the fact is..he shouldnt have to.......
...let him take his time - its an MMO not boot camp lol.
(methinks ive not had enough coffee yet...still in rant mode sorry folks )

Not really true, if you have a slow zoner or someone has gone AFK (for ligit reason, bio, etc) or is DCing and you don't know there is a delay and people tend to rush off to buy, sell, level, etc. That said we'll just have to get used to telling those people not to leave the zone until the next mish is selected. Not ideal, but workable, still hate the change mind you.

What up with you today?
Just a question. Is this a deliberate change or a bug?
I can see it being an annoyance if the team scatter for some reason or someone goes afk.
Before now a team could proceed regardless of where everyone was. This change/bug will result in alot of standing around waiting or an increase in fiddling around with reinviting.
This sucks. I'd rather be bombered with filler requests tbh.

/signed. A casual team requires freedom.
As always, look at comics. It's what this game is based on - it's an RPG, after all. Heroes break off from the core team to achieve objectives or 'collect something from base', and meet the rest of the team mid-battle, bringing the ever-loved 'backup / reinforcement' in a heroic entrance.
So - we can't even stick to the genre correctly now?

As far as im aware its a deliberate change to prevent fillers, and as I stated it is by far from the end of the world as teaming goes just an irritation.
However if it is another change to prevent farmers dont the devs realise they wont stop it?...they nerfed the family mish iirc to balance out risk v reward...farmers got around that...they introduced merits as a reward but also to combat fast eden runs etc for random drops in under 20 mins, peeps will find their way around that...im constantly impressed by the ingenuity of farmers to circumvent the blocks that are put against them.
Now im not into that side of the game myself but to restrict the casual aspect of regular PvE'rs out there who allow players to do their own thing, seems a little odd.
Dont get me wrong this isnt a "no fair" post...im just saying that we (our sg) run casual style team runs where if folks want to meander off and lvl/shop at WW while the rest carry on with the missions thats fine, and if its in the same zone it wont be a problem.
However I dont want to have to start coming down on folks if they want to go to the base/rezone etc etc...I like a nice amiable atmosphere in my teams.
....meh just gonna have to stop Rex from hassling wentworth employess after every mission

Its the first thing I noticed.. and the first thing I hated about I13. Being a regular team leader this sucks incredible.
It takes away the freedom of inviting and / or to temprarly do other things while the rest of the team starts.
Fillers? I dont care about them. Its easier to click no on a random invite or to just ignore a request then to have to cope with this way of team invites.

This goes back to someone's comment earlier today about 'fair' versus 'fun'. The 'fair' approach prevents fillers on teams (invites which I always decline). The 'fun' allows the casual teams where you can form a team, and then start whilst a 'straggler' (for whatever reason - I'm the 'straggler' occasionally, so it's not a negative thing!) catches up.

The reason for this change is Daedelus/Ghost Sybil.
I.e. having a hero-only contact and a villain-only contact in the same zone.
I really should do something about this signature.

Same thing as always. I'm truly amazed when people can't handle operating at anything other than breakneck pace. This is why I solo pretty much all the time. I get to pick my pace, whether that's steaming through missions like a maniac, or pausing to alt-tab out for ten minutes.
Really, people so need to take a chill-pill. It's a game.

Fair enough, but posting something thats likely to start a flame war probably isn't the best way to make that point.
Now about this chill pill thingy, maybe you need one right now

This is one of the many i13 bugs that drove me up the wall last night. I was team leader and could select some mishes and not others while one of our team who is known for slow loads and zoning, was stuck in limbo loading meaning we spent a few minutes standing there waiting to just select a mission that was only around the corner.
This is not the worst one - the worst is the highly bugged chat window. I'm getting lots of ilegible tells from people where only a few characters of their name come up and no actual message and I can't click the name or use backspace to reply.
It took a friend of mine 4 attempts last night to send me one tell asking a question! And the new way the actual chat box behaves is awful, it was driving everyone I teamed with up the wall - gone are the days where clicking ESC would cancel what you're typing or even clear the text - trying to talk to people and it randomly leaving text from a prior typing, and jumping the cursor among other things got me killed 6 times last night as I had a fight with the chatbox and not what was attacking me. This was a bug that was on test for weeks and amazingly never got fixed. Neither did the humongous non-shrinkable Recipe Window that takes masses of my screen - again one from test that didn't get fixed.
Now my angry buggy rant is over, I do pretty much love everything else, the new sets, new missions and everything else so far I think rocks (although I am still unhappy regarding the massively lower amount of potential merits earnt from Vill TFs and the far lesser amount of vill content means we have a fraction of the potential to earn them).
I would like to thank the world of NC for the glory of Pain Domination.... pain we want... pain we want... pain pain pain... You Came To See the mOBSCENE!
