Mission Select in I13
if the mission is marked with "hero" then you cannot select it unless all are in a zone
methinks this is linked to that "morale meter" thing that was mentioned in that poll thing a couple months ago

Hi all,
This is an unintended side-effect of other changes. We'll be adding the below to the known issues list:
<ul type="square">[*]Currently, any mission that can be accessed via Flashback, and any mission in a shared zone that is available only to Heroes or Villains, can only be selected as the active mission of a team if every member of that team is in the same zone.[/list]
[/ QUOTE ]
Um... not sure if I'm reading this right but I was in Striga last night doing normal missions (not flashback) and still had this problem. I suspect it's not limited to Flashback/Co-op zones.

It's any mission that CAN be accessed via flashback (even if you got it from the regular contact), gets flagged and everyone has to be in the same zone. I think that's the unintentional side effect.

It's what I said it was, a consiquence of the code to stop players doing opposite faction missions in co-op zones.
Maybe you will believe me next time?

It's a bug, so, no, I won't.

Sure, when you show me a quote where the devs say thats what it was from. Your quote above was in relation to the missions effected, not the reason it happened.
In an interview, Bruce Harlick (sp?) did comment that code needed to be changed so that mixed teams couldn't do the new missions in Cimerora - since this change is preventing that, it has been concluded, logically, that that's where it comes from.
The wisdom of Shadowe: Ghostraptor: The Shadowe is wise ...; FFM: Shadowe is no longer wise. ; Techbot_Alpha: Also, what Shadowe said. It seems he is still somewhat wise ; Bull Throttle: Shadowe was unwise in this instance...; Rock_Powerfist: in this instance Shadowe is wise.; Techbot_Alpha: Shadowe is very wise *nods*; Zortel: *Quotable line about Shadowe being wise goes here.*
That would make sense, Shad, if it affected those missions, but it doesn't, it affects all missions available through Flashback and those missions.

It does make sense. The code was changed to affect those missions, but an error was made (hence why this is a known issue) that has resulted in it being proliferated across a much wider range of missions than the target set.
If it wasn't a known issue, it would be WAI, but since it is, then we can infer that an error has cropped up in some piece of code, and since this piece of code has been implemented to prevent this issue for the new missions, it seems likely that the error is in that bit of code.
It's the way it was phrased, but never mind. It's possible that the change was made and has had far wider effect than expect. However, the statement that it "affects A and B; this was unintentional" sort of pushes me toward the idea that the whole thing is one large bug and should not have been implemented at all.

The "missions affected" affected is nearly all missions.
I was able to deduce what had happened based on my knowledge of programing, not on anything the devs had said (they didn't even know about it). Ravenswing would have been able to work it out too if he hadn't been so quick to make cynical asumptions about developer incompetance and duplicity.
I really should do something about this signature.

Edited for accuracy
There is a difference between an assumtion and a deduction.
People assumed that this was an anti-farming measure, despite the stong evenence to the contrary (that being, it wouldn't work).
I combined the knowledge that code had been added to prevent players doing opposite faction missions, which we were told about in the developers diary; with the knowledge that character info is not reliably transfered between zones to make a deduction. I could still have been wrong, but what I said was based on sound evidence, and turned out to be correct.

Again, no one has said you were correct, you are jsut stating that. Sure the evidence says there is a fair chance you are, but until you find a dev saying you were (I'll give you a comment saying it was the cause, doesn't have to specificly say 'Praf was right' ) I'm not going to belive you next time.

Yes. Deductions are logical conclusions based upon facts and assumptions.

I didn't, I deduced that it was a massive amount of overkill for a mechanism to stop mixed missions and therefore actually attributed the devlopers with more intelligence than you do.

All we have had confirmed is that the current situation is a bug. No one has confirmed what the original intention of the code was.

This sounds more like a bug than a planned change - especially as there don't seem to be any reports of it happening when I13 was on Test.
