there was a guy that solo'd ITF with Robot/Dark.
I'm sure somebody will be kind enough to find that thread and link it. As it has pictures and everything.
Robot/Dark = unstoppable. -
My Elec/Dark and Rad/Traps both solo exceptionally well. Elec/Dark could have been Fire/Dark or anything --/Dark so i'd have to say that --/Dark is a good solo set. Traps is simply amazing. I don't need a heal. With Acid Mortar taking alpha practically and with FFG up, I'm able to do almost whatever I want.
To make acid mortar take alpha just set down the acid mortar at a corner, then Proton volley (or snipe) an enemy then go behind said corner. Enemies will run past the acid mortar then take damage thus, being practically taunted by the acid mortar. I love my acid mortar. -
Empathy always seemed like a 1-trick pony to me. "RA's up" then proceed to heal stuff. I dunno, im being really shallow but there are enough differenced between the two to make me wonder whihc i would want on a team.
1 is a pure heal and buff set, the other a a combination between heal, buff and debuff in different catagories. If defender could get pain domination (it'll never happen), Then i think I'd have to make a pain/-- Offender simply due to the fact it's more solo friendly and has +damage components geared towards the caster as a reward for healing his friends. -
I wish there were more Sonic/ Defenders on my server.
Then agian i wish there were more Defenders in general on my server. -
as a Storm your very endurance heavy with Steamy Mist, Snow Storm and Hurricane on. Picking just Assault or Maneuvers might not crash your endurance but you won't really need it. Many other people pick up leadership so its not that big of a deal. If your not running out of endurance too quickly with Hurricane, Steamy Mist, Snow Storm and EPP Shield then go for it. But I wouldn't recommend it.

Sonic is mmore fun to me. With moves like Liquefy and disruption field. Yur not only a buffer but a powerful Debuffer. i like to think of it as a mix between FF and Kin.
FF is only boring solo, as your primary is next to worthless. Sonic though has a few powers that can be classified as "useful" when soloing. PFF is probably what makes people think FF is so boring: They buff their team then turn on PFF and wait 4 minutes, then buff agian.
eh, just give it a shot. your either a FF fan or not. I'm not personally. -

no robes? big deal. although you would think that at the start of production that would be one of the things address considering every other MMO before it practically had robes/dresses. also, with the huge character editing powers. they must have known SOMEBODY would want to recreate their.. i don't know.. umm.. Everquest character or DAoC character? (i dont know..). Odd, but its not a big deal to me. -
Nemesis plot for sure.
i wonder if any of the villain groups will be looked over and have any of their colors changed? -
i find this to be good news.

since we're getting personal:
my favorite is the brute. You get rewarded for taking risks. for example:
you defeat a group of enemies and now you have a sizeable ammount of Fury but your Hp is not very high. So you either A) wait and get full hp but lose all of your fury. or B) go on fighting with reduced hp but have higher damage.
honestly i find it very fun and rewarded. i don't know why though. -

tier one: Flying demon imps. they are fire imps only they fly and have bat wings.
tier two: Incubus. mezzing pets with some control powers. they get 33% containment
tier three: Castle himself. lulz
tier three forizzle: That ice monster from the CoT. so we have fire pets, mez pets and a super ice pet. -
easiest way to do it is to
1. leave your moronic minions in defensive and on follow
2. run right into the middle of the enemy group
3. you will abosrb alpha (half will be split between you and your posie)
4. your minions then will proceed to attack targets.
or you could be really cool and set up macros that have been posted somewhere in these forums. (I'm not cool..) -

doesn't matter. powerlevelers use AE farm to power level now.
oh well. like to see an EXP multiplier reduced in AE please. -
Considering that the AE has been out for a decent ammount of time and nothing has been done about the increased level of farming and reduced number of people in other areas besides atlas, i can safely say that the Devs don't plan to do anything about the AE farming. It doesn't mean they don't care (as im sure they are atleast alittle hurt that players would rather hit 50 in record time than actually play the game) but it means they are accepting it for good or bad.
I hate the AE system for this reason and this reason only. but sadly, theres nothing we can do about it.
But yes, there is a problem. if there wasn't a problem, you wouldn't see so many people crying in outrage about it constantly. quite sad really. -
Yeah Scirocco is my favorite simply for Ball Lightning. It's pretty potent after a Rage + Fury.

Fury is actually vmore Irate at me than at the idea it seems. Many Defender players agree though Fury, There many Threads concerning the issues i've stated. Including our near-worthless (if not totally worthless) Inheritant power. Our Lack of soloing skills. And Controller's ability to do their secondary roll better than we do our primary roll.
Face facts Fury, We're being phased out.
Controllers do what Defenders do and then some. (Besides Dark Miasma and Cold Domination)
Corruptors do what Defenders do and can solo a tad better.
Masterminds have supportive abilities, can deal fair sums of damage and have better survivability (thus better soloing in general)
Your also assuming that i havent played a Dominator and attacking my character, stay on subject, dont try to look like an expert on the subject by alienating what I have played and haven't, it makes you look like you know absolutely nothing to me.
Stop being a troll and just leave my Thread, you've stated your case now be gone. Unless you have something positive to post then your better off somewhere else.
I dont care if you post counter arguements but dont attack someone just because you dont like the theory.

There. Back to the general public,
Anyway, Defenders of course will still be played but for the most part, its still unfair that Defenders are tougher to play as and have nothing special about their role anymore.
I'm not asking for a nerf to corruptors, masterminds or controllers because that won't solve our problems. We would still be bad at soloing and would still be left with a broken Inheritant power.
All I ask for is something that helps us solo and gives us an Advantage over Controllers and Corruptors in the support role. Boosting our damage isn't my primary concern. I'm more worried about our primary role. -

I like the idea!
keep EXP gain on up to a certain point. Once you reach that point you, i guess we'll call it a "ping" (it aint a ding so ping will do). The EXP bar reverts back to zero and it starts over agian after you get the ping bonuses. -
I really like the "proactive" idea.
searching for that single enemy/glowie can sometimes be very annoying. Expecially if your lower than 14 without a travel power. Some maps are just so huge that fidning them is simply a waste of time. -
MageX it seems your stuck in "Generic MMO Land" where there are designated Healers, Tanks and Damage Dealers. This game doesnt follow those rules.
I'm a Kinetic/Energy Defender, By your logic I'm a healer but thats my exact opposite. I'm a kineticist. I boost my damage to the shear maximum (+300%) and proceed to blast everything around me while supporting my allies.
This game does not follow the "Holy Trinity" of Damage Dealer/Tank/Healer and one day you'll see that. Right now your just too new to grasp the concept sadly.
One day you'll understand.
P.S. Blaster's Melee attacks are actually more powerful than their ranged attacks in some instances, this is to reward the blaster for putting himself into harms way. Many expert Blaster players actually play these "Melee-blasters" the yare called "Blappers" a combonation of Blaster and Scrapper -

Corruptors and MMs *already* compete with defenders on two major Taskforces (ITF, LGTF). And yet there hasn't been a wholesale movement to exclude defenders from these. Far from, defenders are usually most welcome.
I guess if you're really min-max oriented then sure, maybe you take the corruptor over that defender, but when you're cross buffing or applying stacked debuffs, even defender damage isn't anything to sneeze at. Also, I tend to like players (like many defender players) who think support/buff/debuff first, damage second...you don't want all your players to be like that, but it's nice having at least one or two on any serious taskforce effort.
Finally, I'd rather take the good player on the defender than a so-so player on a min-max corruptor/controller/MM. In fact, I'd rather take 6-7 good players brining any AT they wanted over a min-max perfect combination of ATs piloted by so-so players. I'm going to go on a limb and state that probably most of the player base is the same way.
Also, you failed to mention that we "still" have terrible soloing skills. We can't solo as well as.. anything really. We may solo as well as Dominators but in reality theres a problem here.
You cna say you'll take a defender over everything else well thay is great, thanks! But as time goes on people who want to play a support class will gravitate towards Corruptors, Masterminds and Controllers because they aren't such a hastle to solo and they find groups much easier. Sure there will be people who dont care who's on the team but in major Taskforces and Difficult scenarios, We will still be a Second Rate support class even though we are suppose to be the best of the best at the supportive roll. -
Controllers seem to be fine as of now. I do not wish to see controlelrs weakened for a Defender and corruptor problem. Weakening Controllers wont do anything to solve the defender/corruptor problem. We'll still suck at soloing, we'll still have a craptastic inheritent power and we'll still be replaced by Controllers and even masterminds (when going rogue comes out, honestly cant wait either way). So the solution has to be to solve the defender/corruptor problem by improving the defender/corruptor, not nerfing the controller.
i really like the idea of boosting our damage multiplier to 0.9. I'd also like to see our buffs somehow affect us. I'm not asking for self-targeted shields or heals but somehow reward Defenders/corruptors for supporting the team and using our primary skills. So far, theres absolutely nothing that gives us a nitch in the support roll. We need something that makes groups say "yeah, a controller has good support abilities but Defenders can __________ with their support powers!"
