  1. I just had it happen to me.

So, I've closed it and started it up again. It works now. Very strange indeed.

I just hate having to wait for it to load, seems like it takes forever.
  2. 30? I'd love 30!

I get about 25 when solo, about 20 when teamed and about 3 to 6 when on a league.

30! Man, I cannot wait for a new cpu and MB.

But apparently I can't do that. It takes something like 2 paid years or $100 in order to have a second account that's able to join and invite in a supergroup. The devs apparently do not want players to have that ability. It's one of the few 'play our way' mindsets remaining.

So let me ask -- how do I get all of my characters on a server into the one SG that I own?

    1. Am I wrong about the free accounts? Is there a way to do this by dual-boxing without spending money?

    2. Is getting a friend to help my only option? That's a tedious and unsatisfactory solution. I have to know someone I trust enough to not wreck my SG, and I have to impose on them for over an hour while I log on a server full of characters one at a time.

    3. Is there some other way to consolidate all my characters into a SG of which I am not aware?

I'm sure there's a solution for this, even though the devs seem dead-set on denying us the ability. It's just too convenient, and I'm sick of waiting so long to get it done.
Here is what I did, just to see if I could. I made an account, created a toon, and dual-boxing, invited that toon into my sg. No problems at all.

This could have been due to the old accounts being reactivated as premium - but there were no toons at all on this account until I made one.

As for having people "wreck your SG" - - I promise you, that I've assisted friends and strangers alike in getting their alts into their SG. Before I got my second account, strangers helped me also. (as well as in-game friends)

So, send me a PM, tell me what server you're on, I'll make a toon and will stick around for the time it takes to invite all your toons, no problem. (unless I"m already on a taskforce)

Honestly, I don't think anyone would "wreck" your sg - by and large, people want to help. It's a simple matter to invite your alt, promote as high as possible and wait for the next toon.
  4. I would tell you to be cautious about blindly accepting supergroup invites.

As a new player, I did so, and was quite disappointed in the result. Depending on your servers population, you may find that you run into the same people as you level. If you find their chatting to be amusing, or perhaps intelligent, I suggest you friend them. Don't worry about the caliber of their play, as we have our own learning curves, and it took me 50 levels to realize that I really don't enjoy playing a stone tank.

It is easy to make friends in this game. It also requires effort to make enemies. Part of what draws many people to this game, and one server more than another is the interaction among players.

I would suggest you make a toon on each server and play to level 5 or so. It's only a glimpse, but it might help you find a server that shines out above the rest.
Lastly, join one of the public global channels on the server you play. Ask questions there or on the forums. Many of us think we know it all and would love to share.

    That's easy.

    Because Night's Dawn said so.

    Base Bugs in I21

You see, I like to organize the items in my storage containers. (In particular, I like to group IO sets.) After I21, that order was re-arranged automatically, jumbling the items in a haphazard way.

I tried to re-arrange the items and restore my preferred ordering... but, nooooooooo! The items automatically snapped back into the post-I21 order! There was nothing I could do to change the haphazard, automatic ordering!

So, not only did I21 come into my house and mess with all the logos; but it also entered all my storage containers and messed with the careful ordering I had specified for the items!

I reported the storage container bug. But, no reply and no correction--yet.
That "bug" you refer to about the storage containers is WAI. If you notice, they're in alphabetical order.

    Hami Raid

Thanks for a successful raid, Liberty. And thanks for leading it, Rianeva!

Now, in order for me to learn all I can - you chose to play it "safe" and finish off the last round of mitos - any reason why -- or is it thought crazy to try that without chem and Bio buffs from Warburg?

Umm...a hero/villain merit is equal to 50 reward merits, not 100+.

If you think the 20 merits is not as good as a hero merit, you'd be right.

The moral is: Be a hero or a villain.

Why a rogue or vigilante can't get 50 reward merits is probably because if that was a choice, than a hero or a villain would be able to choose the same option- which is essentially getting the same reward twice within the 7 day time frame. (the 1 hero merit, then the 50 reward merits. )

Could they design it so there was a different reward table for rogues and vigilantes - maybe. Will they? I dunno.

More than likely, they'll stop giving us a choice and just give the 2 merits once they see how many hero/villain merits are being earned.
  10. I can also confirm this.

However, I use herostats - and I can tell you that you're still better off in AE if all your after is xp.

I guess it could depend on your build, but several folks have already adjusted their farm arcs to ensure the baddies no longer rez.

On the dreck map, I get about 600 -700 prestige per minute, and in AE, i get about 1700 -1800 now. That's probably slower than some of the more uber builds out there, but it works for me.

XP will more than likely follow the same pattern. The only advantage to the dreck map is the 888 baddies on the map (bosses count for 2) is the chance of a purple. I'm getting probably an average of 2 to 3 every 7 runs. The sad part is that they are almost always a hold, immobilize, stun or confusion.

Do the sig arc for 20 merits.

The menu says 4 times the normal reward, which is 2, but I made the mistake of running it once too many times today and chose the 4Xmerits and got 20.
  12. Apologies to @Corumm, @Knightfox and @Mystic Fortune.

I thought I was the only one who got LCMS'd, but apparently the server is down. No Death from Below for us.

If we get back up soon, I'll try again.
  13. I had this same problem on Guardian the other day, so I logged off and played something else. Recently, I checked again and everything was the way it was supposed to be. Maybe a glitch? Have you checked to see if it's still like that?

If it is, send a petition. That's the only advice I have.
  14. Sorry, I know we'd all love to help, but we need some more information.

How much memory does she have?
What type of graphics card? What are her graphics set at ?

Based only on what you've stated (very little to go on) I suspect it's a lack of memory.
  15. Folks, I know it's not a fun thing to read.

But, on the bright side, at least we know now, instead of finding out about it the hard way. Now, I can at least decide to go shopping tomorrow instead of today. I can run errands tomorrow instead of Friday.

Yes, agreed, downtimes are no fun.

But, I do appreciate the advance notice.
  16. Well, years ago, I bought this game right before Christmas just to have something do over the break.

It looked like a fun game, and at the time, I had no idea it was anything special. Heck, I didn't even know it was an MMO; didn't even know there was any such thing.

I've rolled countless toons, and with the exception of one concept toon, none of them use the "prestigious power slide".

That trail at their feet had always bothered me, and that there was no special reason that they should be able to glide, I never used it.

I wish I could hand it off like a set of Fairy Wings, as I'm pretty sure I'll never use those either.

    Let's clear something up.

    About MARTy

    http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=271317
Quoted from Zwillinger "It is important to note that MARTy is not aimed at one specific playstyle or Mission type. The threshold at which MARTy is triggered is such that, through normal, or even aggressive, gameplay, a player should never be impacted by any penalties. We have been vigorously testing MARTy against live server and Beta server metrics and have ensured that even the most aggressive normal gameplay will not be impacted."

If you read this important note from Zwillinger, or even better click on the link to refresh your memory, it should be clear that not even the most aggressive play would incur the wrath of MARTy.

You may very well view farmers and PLers as disobedient children. And some may in truth be disobedient. But, they are not your children.

You are, of course, allowed to say you don't agree with the way people play. However, an intelligent person would have a reason for their views. They would be able to clearly show why something was good or bad.
All you seem to do is delight in taking up a contrary position.

I am really, seriously trying to understand what has you so upset about the "ebil farmers/pl-ers ".

Is it this supposed lag that the running of their missions cause? Because if they weren't in AE, they'd be somewhere else using just as many server resources.

Is it because people are satisfied with these silly, farms instead of well-planned, beautifully written stories?

I remember back when they nerfed burn, because some of the players had felt it unfair that one toon could do the work of 8 just as fast as 8. (well maybe almost as fast, maybe faster, depended on the 8 and the tank)

Defenders (in general, certainly not all of them) seemed to be the ones with the biggest problem because they weren't needed. When this happened, a lot of fire tanks got shelved.

So, are you just feeling left out, unappreciated?

See, I wasn't here when the devs mentioned that they would "frown" upon farming in AE. If Matt Miller were in my presence now, I would have told him that he might as well be putting a carrot before a horse with a statement like that. That's similar to telling my daughters to avoid dating guys with earrings and long hair because of my unfair personal biases. One might obey, but the other might do it just to see what my reaction would be.
Or maybe, it's because rules without relationships reap rebellion. You tell someone they can't, well that just makes some of them want to. Especially when they cannot see how what they're doing has any impact on anyone else.

I seriously don't understand all this fuss about how I spend my time in game-- or is it just coming across like that? Am I being too defensive? Maybe. I doubt it, though.

"During the VIP Head Start, amongst other things accessible to our VIP players, Level Pacts will be available in order to take advantage of the brand new Power Sets that will be released then. However, after the head start has ended, Level Pacts will need to be disabled and new Level Pacts won't be available to anybody until we have been able to revisit the system at a later point."

    Emphasis mine.

Because of a vacation on her part we weren't actually able to make all of our characters before the system was prematurly shut off with no visable warning. I understand that the developers are probably planning on adding this to the premium/VIP structure and that is the reason they are disabling it in general. However, there was no reason to disable it before the head start had ended as was originally stated.

Of course, in this thread with all of the arguments over the AE change I doubt anything will come of this post.
May I suggest you file a petition. If in fact the leveling pact you had with your girlfriend was broken before this Tuesday morning, I would think that's NOT working as intended.

But, that does you little good now, I'm afraid. I would send a PM to Avatea or Beastyle and ask them what's what.

Let me begin with a few statements.

First, I think that little comic you made was great. Really, I did enjoy it.

But this statement about PLers - there is in fact a problem here.

I have taken an Empath defender to 50. I know struggle. I know strategy. I have well over a dozen level 50s and the trek to 50 is now easier than ever before, even if AE was not even in the game. Power leveling to 50 is not really a good idea for the person that's playing the PL'd toon, nor for anyone that person may team with- if in fact that person doesn't have a basic understanding of the game or how it's played. I can certainly agree with that sentiment.

But to take an action that impacts people that do not PL is an annoyance.
To read a comment such as yours - with the silly emoticon - that's about as close as you can get to trolling, wouldn't you think? I mean, what is your desired result with this comment?

GG, try to realize that there are people who know how to get to 50 without PLing in AE that use AE to aid in getting hard to get recipes. I even turned off xp on my toon. If the devs didn't want the farmers to do this, they'd take away the tickets in the first place.

Attacks on the player base at large, or farmers in particular, or PLers has no place in the forums. You can argue semantics all you wish, but you've made your position clear - clearly mean-spirited.

    Shame on you.
  23. I want the old look back too. The new interface is just yuck. And the APC (I guess) that looks like he's about to clobber statesman - his leg armor has a hinge - on what looks like his thigh, and not his knee. What kind of design is that?

I can tolerate the fake shrubbery in Atlas, that now might as well be Praetoria, but the character design interface is just gross.
  24. Ukaserex

    Mail Invites

First, I'd like this option, or one similar to it.

However, reasons why they don't make it easy:

    1. People will buy second accounts so they can do this themselves.
    (more money for them)
    2. Memory resources. I seem to recall the devs saying somewhere, sometime that the salvage storage was a burden on the server. Should everyone make their own SG because they can invite their alts, that would be a lot more stuff stashed.

In a shared SG, there is still a cap of 18 storage bins for salvage, regardless of how many are in the SG.

So, with 1 account using 18 bins, you take 150 people, all in a solo SG, those numbers get larger than if all 150 people were in the same SG also using 18 bins. It doesn't seem like that much, but each piece of salvage comes with certain details that must be contained in memory. That's a whole lot of zeroes and ones.

Again, I'd love to drop my second account, but players I trust to invite my alts aren't always online when it's convenient for me to do this. And I've done the inviting for other friends. It's a chore because you have to either make a toon, or have one quit your own SG to help them. (unless you have a designated inviter, which I currently do)
  25. Noyjitat is right - there are still people who do these things at a much slower pace.

How about you give us a list of which task forces you'd like a slower pace on?
Liberty is blessed to have some very capable leaders. I'm sure a number of them would be willing to help.

If I have the time, I have a number of toons that still need a number of badges and would be happy to contribute.
