Hmmmm....
1. Use freespec on build two. Make spectacularly gimped build**.
2. Switch to GimpBuild.
3. Go eat lunch or bio.
4. Accept mission. Progress to self-fight.
5. Die like fish.
6. Hospital, trainer, switch to LeetBuild. Re-enter mission.
7. Happily smack around 8 GimpBuilds with your LeetBuild.
8. Profit!
** I suppose you couldn't make it horrendously gimpy or you might never make it to the end fight.
*** Not sure if this would work, since I really haven't used the dual builds much at all. -
I too love the new arcs. Only got to play the first two missions so far, so looking forward to more.
I do have one question. I play with no sound due to permanent spousal aggro. The new 'agent voice' stuff pops up in bold speech 'bubbles' but it doesn't display in the chat window. Since sometimes those bubbles are in odd places and hard to read, I almost missed the dialogue. Is there any way to add that into the regular chat window? -
No, you must be crazy! I17 is horribly broken and only will run on new $3000+ machines! It's completely unplayable!!!!eleven!! I know it's so because I readz teh Bugs forum!
Or, you know, not. -

Ran thru the 'Rescue Mr. Yin' mish last night and noticed that after I defeated the last mob and turned on the map to lead the old man to safety, there was a red arrow at the spot where 'Blast of Boomtown' breathed his last. It stayed there until we reached the doorway.

Quote:I used a 'Summon Clockwork' last night and it correctly docked me one charge.New fun bug from last night:
I had 3 copies of Summon SnowBeast from the winter event.
I used 1 of them fighting Protean, but it removed all 3 from my powers. =(
I think I have multiple "Rock" temp powers on another character to see if it applies to all powers that we can have duplicates of. -
Looks fine on my laptop's 1440 x 800 display. Text is a bit small tho - I can see where if my eyesight wasn't pretty decent it'd be a big PITA.

-
I seem to recall a standalone utility that would fix this - I think I have a copy on my momentarily-deceased laptop. Tweakcoh? Or was it Tweak_UI? I forget...
-
I get that - and I can sympathize. I used to play on my wife's computer, which barely functioned on the minimum settings. But the majority of marginal systems out there could probably get a minimal upgrade on the cheap.
-
Might it not be better to spend a bit on a value-priced video card and completely disable the on-board graphics? Granted, you're not going to boost up into Ultra-mode territory on the cheap, but the end result should be as good or better than pre-i17? Maybe?
-
Quote:No. Voice of experience. It's not playable with that level of non-horsepower. Integrated graphics are a non-starter.So you don't think the laptop that I have linked would run CoH well?
And again, I'm not expecting awesome graphics...I'm used to playing CoH in all of the lowest graphical settings.
Listen to Father Xmas. -
Quote:To do this right (And for the record I'd love to see it) there'd have to be lots of ways to make it work. Not just 1) fight way onto train 2) kill boss guarding controls 3) shut down train 4) ??? 5) profit!Typical hero missions like "Save The Out Of Control Train"...Not only villain bashing, but also keeping the populace safe.
For instance, maybe a SS tank/brute/scrapper could just out-power the train. A controller might be able to freeze it, etc. It'd be a lot of work but *really* cool. -
Sigh.
Last anniversary event fell during a huge push at work, when I was working 65-70 hour weeks and sleeping most of the rest of the time.
This year? My computer died on Friday. -

Quote:By that you mean the XP mode doesn't support the 3D libraries, right? If I go this route I'd only use the XP mode to support the digital audio suite. So then the question becomes, is there any CoX-related reason *not* to use Win7 Pro?Back_Blast, they lifted the virtualization hardware requirement just recently.
Tyrrano, it's not available in home or starter editions. Also it doesn't support 3D graphics libraries so it's not good for 3D legacy gaming. It's really meant for so small business that is still reliant on software written 15 years ago, by someone who doesn't work there anymore, and it won't run in Windows 7. -
OK, looks like I'm building a new system as my laptop has crapped out on me yet again.
Even if I get it fixed it obviously can't deal with the stress of running high-end applications in the long-term.
One of the reasons I've been angling towards building a tower - I produce a radio show, and awhile back I bought a high-end professional digital audio system (E-MU 1616M). I want to be able to install this and do most of my audio production and mixing from home. The catch is that systems like these usually aren't on the cutting edge as far as OS support - the latest documentation says it doesn't fully support 64-bit Vista and is too out of date to bother with Win7
So, in reading the description for Win7 Pro on Newegg I see...
Quote:Is that an Pro-only feature, and would it prove useful in getting this stuff to work properly?Windows XP Mode requires an additional 1 GB of RAM, an additional 15 GB of available hard disk space, and a processor capable of hardware virtualization with Intel VT or AMD-V turned on
TIA! -
Anymore I find that rez sits in my tray unused. It has dust on it. I don't think my main (Ice/Emp) has used his in months. Maybe once. For that kind of frequency, I'll carry extra wakies or as someone suggested the day job rez is a good choice. No more than it gets used, recharges should be no big deal.
I think when I finally respec him, I'm dropping rez for something I'll actually use. -

Would it be enough to make the Rage crash nullify any instance of Rage? IOW, if you're able to double-stack Rage thru extreme recharge bonuses, but when one Rage ends they *all* end, and the power is locked out for the duration of the crash, would that be enough penalty to make things 'more equal' without trashing the set entirely?
I don't have an opinion either way, I'm just asking. -
Quote:I might contend that there's nothing /wrong/ with RP powers. No one is forced to take them. It would be nice in some cases to make them a bit more useful. Why are half of the pool powers virtually useless...
Each of those could use a buff to make them more than joke or RP powers.
Quote:Power creep shouldn't be too extreme, since this is essentially a buff to builds that are not currently optimized
Quote:Convert Challenge, which has no use with Provoke available, into a placate... Buff the Presence mezzes, either slightly more duration or a small tohit debuff
I do agree the Presence pool could use some serious love. I took Challenge on my SS/Inv Brute because I wanted the terrorize powers for RP purposes and in the low levels I wasn't confident enough to want to Provoke groups. I haven't respec'd that character yet (he's at 33rd currently) and I'm finally planning a better build for him. Up until now I hadn't taken Taunt and now I imagine I will since it works considerably better than Provoke. What *I* would love is to be able to count Taunt or Confront as the first tier prereq for the Presence pool.
Whirlwind's really not that bad in some situations. You just need to be able to manage all that KB. Team TP strikes me as essential if you plan on using TP as a MM. But yeah, very situational. -
