Is there anyway to adjust the graphics options from a file in the CoH folder?

Here are my settings from Test (might need to zoom in)

in the test the game worked fine with those settings, So natually since they worked fine on test they would work fine on live (*sigh* yeah i know, I'm an idiot)

I had some graphics issues with live, so i tried to turn down the watereffects from ultra and WHAMMO! crash, tried again... crash.. again... crash.. rinse and repeat.

If I remember correctly, the settings for the game are stored in the registry, not a file. Messing with that generally isn't advised unless you're experienced. Have you tried the game's safe mode?

I seem to recall a standalone utility that would fix this - I think I have a copy on my momentarily-deceased laptop. Tweakcoh? Or was it Tweak_UI? I forget...

It's Tweakcoh, but I couldn't tell you if the latest version has the Ultra Mode settings.

The latest version of TweakCoH is 3 years old. I was hoping for something similar since I can't turn my Shadow settings up without crashing.

If anyone happens to know where the graphics settings are in the registry, I am fully willing to take responsibility for blowing my Windows up.

Biidi, what graphics card and driver version are you using?

Nvidia gtx260, version 197.45 drivers on Windows 7 64 bit. They seemed to work okay on test. I could change shadow settings with little more than a few seconds of a pause.

experiencing the exact same probs with the same card + drivers running on XP. If I so much as hover my mouse over any of the UM sliders the game crashes.

FSAA - crash
Ambient Occ - crash
Disable Advanced Settings - crash

Weird thing is, its totally random where and when it does crash - sometimes I get a blacked out screen with the hud overlaying before the crash

TweakCoH it is called I believe. I would however recommend trying the game's own "Safe Mode". Before you click "Accept" on the updater make sure to check "Safe Mode".

Actually i didnt' have to. after about 30 mins of the game crashing, i finally got in and turned off all shadows, reflection effects and water effects in the regular graphics option in game.

Then I turned on ultra mode and the offending item was disabled. I just turned up the reflective option to where i wanted it and the game ran smooth again.

In the end, its just the excuse err ..reason I need to move to a 1gb video card ; )

Though being able to tweak the CoH setting from the registry would still be a good idea for any other serious issues that might crop up.
