This question has no doubt been asked many times, but the search engine just tells me 'No soup for you!'
If you delete a character that you want to 'reroll', how quickly does the name become available again? Fairly immediate? -
Quote:It is my understanding that the Complete Collection will NOT be prepurchasable. If you want the new powersets early, you won't get the free month of gameplay, though you will be able to purchase the 'item pack' apparently. When can I expect to prepurchase the Complete Collection so I can get in on the prebuying playing with Pistols?
Your choice boils down to 'free month' or 'early access'
*shakes fist at Adeon* "Curse you, you faster-typing-person you!" -
First guess, because you haven't pre-ordered Going Rogue yet, so you're not 'cleared' to use it. Or perhaps you have paid, but the code required isn't yet applied properly to your account.

I just started an Earth/earth a few days ago myself and I must say it's quite fun. Only up to 17 so far (I like to go slow) and I can see the OPs original point - early on this build wants to be at range. Takes awhile to whittle down the opposition but you're far too squishy to stay in close for long. I'm certainly looking forward to see what this feels like as the melee part of the set matures.

I like it for Brutes, too. Especially in your tier 1 power - all the more reason to keep throwing attacks out there.

Quote:You're assuming the negrep was due to anything you said. Sometimes you just get it because someone feels like jerking you around and knows some exploit to dump -100 on you. I guess they get all giddy like a schoolgirl for all of about 3 seconds. Why do you think people disable reputation so much? It's worthless. Don' worry - be happy mon.Wow, apparently 130 people are upset about my comment. I had no idea the entire populations of Justice, Liberty, Pinnacle, Victory, Guardian, Triumph, Champion, Infinity, and Protector would take time out of their day to adjust my rep.
Now if all of you were actually playing instead of dissing me maybe there wouldn't be any talk of merging servers.
Sorry you don't like the truth. Yeah, it hurts, I know. -

Quote:Pocket D lag is all about that transparent floor and the light effects. That place tanks my framerate far worse than the ITF does.Edit: missions didn't lag today *yay!* a Pocket D populated by 5 player characters still lags though... It might have something to do with the light effects or it might have something to do with the npc characters... I don't know yet..

Quote:Are you sure the accumulation is that short? I ask because I solo a lot with an AR/fire blaster, which has lots of knockback. Many times it seems like the first KB attack doesn't knock down the mob, but the second one almost always does, and a third is pretty much a sure thing. Just the way it happens certainly seems to my eyes as though I'm building up a KB level on the mob. Is this just a perception issue?... An interesting complication is that the KB system, to the best of my knowledge, "accumulates" knockback within a certain very small window (its somewhere between 0.125 and 0.5 seconds, I believe). That's what sometimes causes two knockdowns to combine into one knockback if they land nearly simultaneously. So a KB with a duration will not land lots of KBs in a short time: it will land a set of KB effects that combine to one KB, then another burst that combine, etc.

I suggest you go to the 'Technical Issues and Bugs' forum - the guys in there will be quicker and more helpful for you. I can tell you, tho, that the first thing they'll say is that your laptop's video 'solution' is not adequate. I do seem to recall seeing a flickering issue like yours before, so maybe they can at least help you thru that.

Ye Gods. Some folks would complain if they were hung with a new rope.

Quote:Sadly, this is what passes for debate on the Intarwebz most of the time. I won't spend an hour discussing psychological whys and such, but suffice to say that it's *really* easy for otherwise reasonable individuals to come off as dismissive and rude. You gotta have a thick skin... I have tried in another thread (Suggestions) ... What I got, from some of the names above and many others is the standard: You are an ignorant fool, stupid, learn the game, etc. Instead of a clear reason of what I have asked or suggested is dumb; it seems the folks simply stating I am stupid is a totally compelling explanation.
Quote:I respect some of the practical solutions some of the players proposed, I think they are well intentioned, and perhaps useful, but those solutions are more of live with it kind of thing, than try to fix it, its like having a broken tooth, and told to chew with your other side as a permanent fix.
Granted, sometimes a change is warranted to help a small minority (remember the whole Sonic vertigo issue?) but in this case we're talking about a major change to the game mechanics to fix something that most would agree is a minor issue.
Quote:I always thought, a healthy discussion on new ideas, game upgrades, game changes to be a good thing to keep the game dynamic and more fun. -
Quote:Heh, my Emp/ENG defender looks at that as extra mitigation. When you're as squishy as he is, any extra time you can leave those bad guys hanging on meathooks is a bonus. My martial artists love Crane Kicking Freak Tanks, among others, into various architectural features and watching them flail helplessly with their heads lodged in the wall/pillar/crate/etcetera.

Noxilicious, ladies and gentlemen, give him a hand! He'll be here all the week. Don't forget to tip your waitress!

Quote:Cool, never knew that. There is supposed to be no way to toggle off that display,... The OP is just victim of a bug that seems to happen to people from time to time.
Of course I've never tried to turn it off - I just assumed I'd never stumbled across that toggle.
-
All of the above, and further: If you absolutely must keep the IOs the way you have them, learn to position yourself so that the mob flies into a wall, instead of down the hallway. That way you chase much less (and it's kinda satisfying to watch, too).

Quote:This. I duo'd a couple of nights back with a good friend, both on AR blasters, and there was so much explody goodness, I was grinning from ear to ear. Same when I team my Arch/TA defender with another archer, it really makes it loads more fun. Also, there are not too many powersets I feel this way about, and unfortunately it doesn't happen often enough, but arrows and guns become more fun with each arrow/gun user added to the group.

Most of the 'windows' that display information can be toggled on and off by a single key. For instance, hitting 'c' will get rid of your chat window. 'N' toggles the navigation display. I'm not sure what is assigned to toggle the status bar (if indeed there is one in the default setup) but you probably hit that key inadvertently. I've been known to do that occasionally (Where the ? did my target window go? Oh, yeah...)
There's a listing in the options menu of all those commands and their shortcuts - you can even customize them. -

Quote:Yeah, especially as a scrapper, since you've got to get up-close and personal with them. Best way to deal with Vahz zombies is to kill them before they get close enough to spray that poisonous bile stuff on you, and as a scrapper you just have no good way to do that. Same here, always willing to help a new player. The zombie are probably the worst of the low level enemy groups

Quote:Oh, I understand what you're saying. But getting to 50 is also vastly different. Granted, if I just played one red and one blue, even at my 3-5 hours per week pace, they'd both be 50s by now. But I don't - that's a choice I've made because, like many, I like variety.Neither do I (in a perfect world where I get paid for playing video games)... but I know that when I get off work if I go home and make a new toon I can easily have it to 20 before I go to bed or damn close, hell a decent sewer team can get you to 10 in an hour.
I'm not saying it's easy but if you form your own teams and focus on nothing but trying to get xp it's nowhere near difficult enough to say it's vastly different from just offering khelds at lvl 1.I've even chosen to play my main without XP at times because I didn't want to outlevel content.
Requiring level 20s before unlocking EATs does give a decent chance that you'll learn a bit about CoX and how things work before 'rolling up' an epic. And making them available right out of the gate means they're no longer 'special' at all (even if lowering the requirement makes them less 'special' - an opinion I don't necessarily share but will grant it's validity).
I guess the bottom line is, the devs made a conscious decision to change this. I'm sure they knew some people would feel that their accomplishment was somehow 'cheapened' and were willing to accept that. -
Quote:Not everyone can play CoX 12 hours a day.The only thing I don't understand is with leveling so easy in this game (20 can be done in a day if you really wanted it) why not just remove the prereq entirely and make them available at lvl 1?
I'm well over three years into this game and still don't have a lvl 50. My main has been in the mid 40s for probably 8-9 months now. Granted, I'm in no hurry to get to 50, so obviously EATs aren't a huge draw for me, but it'd be nice to get to play with them. Redside, my highest is approaching lvl 30, so realistically speaking I'd probably never get to try the VEATs without this change. By the time I get there, they'd be taking the game offline.

Or you could just find temp powers that work and use those. Of course, if you try to build a character concept around the 'Crey Cryo Pistol' it's going to get very old Oro'ing that mission all the time...

Quote:That goes further to reinforce what I've been reading. (Heh, haven't gotten much real work done todayIt does sound like something died; it kind of reminds me of the symptoms on a work desktop that fried it's video card. That machine powered up the fans, then sat there doing nothing... opening it up revealed that the card overheated and popped a half dozen capacitors. As I recall it sat there with fans spinning and giving regular momentary flashes of the HDD activity light. Fortunately it was a desktop, not a laptop, so I just replaced the blown vid card. (It was amazing just what the card looked like, the capacitors had popped and peeled away just like a kernel of popcorn)
Unfortunately troubleshooting hardware on a laptop is a bit tougher; many of them you can't replace components on. If there's a PC repair shop near you it may be worthwhile to at least see what they have to say before you give up. About the only good news is that I doubt your hard drive is a problem so you'll at least be able to get data off of it. Small consolation I know.) Apparently this is the same issue that various Dell, HP. etc. laptops have endured - faulty nVidia chipsets. The northbridge chip heat-cycles and eventually the solder connections fracture. The result, no video. I'm looking into some methods for reflowing the solder connections - I may just spring to have it done rather than try it myself with a heat gun like some have done.
Blech.
