Earth/Earth Dom

Well, I cant says I understand Higher levels of Doms very well, because I havnt teamed with one, or played one past level 10.

This build however I really like.It feels like a Blaster that uses Rocks instead of Energy, a Gun, or Fire, ect.It feels Earth Shattering!(Pardon the Pun.)

Has anyone got a pure Earth Dom?Im curious about its play-style at later levels.

Side Note : Please dont suggjest what powers to take, and what not to take.Iv already mapped her out for percieved Balanced performance.

Im curious if my Theory on Volcanic Gases giving me a 30 second window of pure murder on a mob is correct or not?

I have a level 50 earth/earth perma dom. It definitly does not play like a blaster. Earth assault only has 2 ranged attacks and neither are very good. Earth/earth has a tank/brute feel to it with all it's melee smashiness. If you want to play it like it blaster you might want to try another dom secondary...maybe fire.
Later in the game....with proper io slotting earth/earth is really awesome. You have alot of control options and seismic smash is the best melee attack for any dom. The 2 mallets and seismic smash are the 3 must haves for earth assault. The aoes are so so but still worth having.
In my opinion volanic gases is the only dom aoe hold really worth taking. It does not hold every enemy around you though at the same time. For the entire duration of VG enemys have a chance to be held so make sure you have plenty of accuracy slotted. Enemys can be held more than once during the duration of VG...which is the cool thing about it. VG is not effected by domination or power boost. Also hold io's dont add much to the duration of the hold. When u slot it you want alot of accuracy and recharge and some hold. I personally slotted mine with a set of 5 bassilisk and a recharge IO for the 7.5 global recharge. The set it quite pricey though.

If you think earth/earth doms play like a blaster...you might not have a good grasp on the combo. You might want to get build advice. I could post my build tonight and there are lot of good dom players on these forums that can give you even better advice.

I could see an Earth/Earth Dom playing like a BLAPPER (i.e. a Blaster who focuses on its melee attacks), but not a Blaster. Almost all of its attacks, and ALL of its really strong attacks, are melee. I see it as kind of a squishy Brute with Control more than a Blaster.

It's still a fun Dominator to play. Mine is at lv 31, and I love it. I'm looking forward to getting Rocky at lv 32 so that my Dom has something to draw aggro off of him. I really want to go for Soul Mastery for him later on so that I can get Soul Drain and Dark Consumption on top of Aid Self.

Too many alts to list.

Was working on a Earth/Earth dom until other stuff came up, have him at 42.

At higher levels, it is a highly effective

It actually plays more like a melee, I will say I like the animation of Stone Shars the tier 1 Earth Assault power much better than stone fist( I have no I idea how they compare in animation time, but the tier 1 earth assault power just looks cooler).

If you want a more blaster like assault set, I'd recommend either Energy Assault or Psi Assault

Well, im getting closer to getting my Pet for my Earth/Earth, and you guys are right, it no longer feels like a Blaster. It did at first at levels under 10, but now I can Tank a bit on this Dom.I notice my AoE Damage is a bit weak, but very good at midigating damage.

I have to admit. This Dom is rather fun to play. This is what I was looking for when I was playing Controllers but could never get.

Im looking forward to bringing this girl to 50, and starting up Plant/Thorn and Ice/Ice builds.

Now wheres that Electrical Control?<.<

I just started an Earth/earth a few days ago myself and I must say it's quite fun. Only up to 17 so far (I like to go slow) and I can see the OPs original point - early on this build wants to be at range. Takes awhile to whittle down the opposition but you're far too squishy to stay in close for long. I'm certainly looking forward to see what this feels like as the melee part of the set matures.

Question about /Earth. Is tremor worth taking? In my head I see it like hand clap knocking everyone away. If that's the case I doubt I will want it. If it only knocks them down however....

Oh, and should I assume the animation time makes hurl boulder essentially not worth taking?

While tremor is not a great power....it's still worth taking. It's secondary effect is knockdown not knockback. The damage is really just so so but it is your best aoe option. The knockdown is really nice mitigation since earth assault forces you to be in melee combat.

Yes hurl boulder is really not worth taking. The damage is mediocre on top of long animation time.
Mud pots is also is very skippable. The huge end drain is not worth the really small radius.
