Quote:I grew up with Star Wars (star wars toys everywhere, bed sheets...you name it) but I was also very active in many other activities. I was a geek-jock. I played many sports but also played many pen and paper games as well. It was a weird mix to be honest.
My point is, I don't freak out over changes to the OT. I find it weird that people associate any changes made to those movies correlates to infringing upon their childhood. Guess I just don't have that much emotion tied up into the original films.
LOL, numerous times on friday nights, i had to run out of the boxing gym in a hurry to make it to the weekly D&D game i was in, sometimes not even changing out of the trunks before getting to my friends house. i can tell you, Boxing and D&D are NOT an accepted mix, by either side. at least back then, geekdom has come quite a long way since then.

Quote:Unless they had like a million bullets, no.
Even with infinite ammo they'd be hard-pressed. The Romans were one of the deadliest warfare machines in history, unstoppable in every direction in the map. Their numbers were virtually inexhaustible, and they'd quickly catch on to Marine tactics and find a way to kill them, even if that meant throwing thousands to their deaths or adopting scorched earth policies the like of which we have never seen since. If a single marine fell, that would mean a roman packing a firearm, and I wouldn't be surprised to see a legionarie wielding it better than any marine alive.
Failing all that, there's always poison, and that was by far their greatest weapon.
wow, that's so fundamentally wrong that it's staggering. first, the Romans were phenomenal COMPARED to current warfare techniques of the time. the range of modern firearms completely negates any tactics they could call upon, there was nothing in their world that had that kind of range. and their numbers WERE inexhaustible, if you counted the whole of the Roman empires forces.... which, by necessity, where spread throughout the empire, leaving less then you would assume in any one area, unless that area was under immediate contention. and catching on to "tactics" using technology they couldn't conceive of is kinda stretching it, especially in a time where "magic" was readily accepted. a small force of Marines could quite easily cause enough panic and mayhem to get the Romans to retreat, do that a couple of times and they would quite simply cede the area and leave. and the odds of a legionnaire with a firearm killing any marine over say... himself or other Romans is quite honestly ridiculous. lets not forget, Attila the Hun ran an extortion racket on the eastern Roman empire for many many years, as they couldn't beat horse mounted archers, too mobile, with too much range. so lightly encumbered marines with firearms and explosives would destroy them wholesale. -
ummmmmmmmm....
has no one pointed out the "STRONG AND PRETTY!!!!"?
dude, go WM/EA (wait for the new buffs to EA though).
it really is a good combo, and with the new buffs, EA looks like the def version of ElA, which sounds awesome. -

Quote:it's like you are an avatar of evil, hidden behind a winky face...Maybe that's because quite a few players think the pricing is fine?
wonder how many people have been banned from these forums for "rage responding" to your incessant...( i can't even come up with a socially acceptable word) -
so, lets think about this logically (i know, hard for the interwebs to do that, but lets try).
as much as we like to point to the devs, they DO NOT SET PRICES!!!! devs are just that DEVS, they are developers, they have absolutely no control on the prices, the business model, or any financial decisions. now i don't know what companies any of you have worked for, but there seems to be a large logic gap here.
beta pricing means it's being evaluated, but by who? the devs? nope, they are computer geeks, not numbers geeks, and definitely not the ones who will raise or lower the prices, but they are the ones we have direct access to (well, close enough). so what can we do to let those who have the decision making power know that we aren't happy with the pricing? we complain, not AT the devs, but to the devs, cuz we don't have access to the NCSoft accounting forums. look, no one is sitting on the beta for this going, "well....hmmmm....prices are....ummm a little high, a little low.... darn it i'll just flip a coin", they are judging feedback from their paying customer base, and the relayed info from the devs. if we DON'T complain, then we will be to blame when the prices stay the same. the devs are great, always have been, i love this game and all that they bring to it, BUT they are at best middle men in this, and as such, don't need the protection of the forum apologists. trying to stifle negative reaction to the new business model for fear of hurting the devs feelings, or sticking up for what you consider some kind of friendship by proxy will not help the matter. the devs are aware that they don't make these decisions, and i am sure they want what will make us happy, i really do, but only they can relay the discontent we have towards the pricing structure, and if we "play nice" we only do ourselves a disservice. -
Quote:Give it time. Once the beta goes on I'm sure the prices will be adjusted.
this line of thinking bothers me, not to point a finger at you, or anyone else who repeats it, it's not a personal attack. But this is how i see it, the devs will get as much as they can for each powerset (or any item/feature/doodad they sell), so if folks jump on the 800 point (10 bucks) powersets, then they will stay where they are. if no one (and these aren't absolute values, just above and below whatever threshold they have set) buys them, then the price will go down. i can see it possibly being lowered before street date IF, and that's a big IF, the community here and at SDCC raised holy heck and there was almost universal contempt for the pricing scale. but there hasn't been, and that vast majority of folks i see responding to these concerns use your line, "just wait, they will probably lower it". this alleviates the community ire, and therefore prevents ANY preemptive price lowering. so, overuse of your tagline above, can actually cause prices NOT TO GO DOWN, and again, the only way they will lower is if it doesn't sell to their expectations. -
Quote:OK guys, much as GG creeps me out with her belief that I am a bad person for so much as touching redside and her deliberate blindness to Longbow's habit of burning people alive, I'm siding with her on this one. She gave a reasonable reply to the statement "Not sure if it's been scooped yet" and was given a needlessly venomous response - to which she continued to reply reasonably.
Really, guys, wtf?
looking at your join date, one can only assume that you have yet to fully grasp the *********** that is GG. leaping to her defense only proves that the devil does in fact have mind control powers! -
my marvel circa 1990's themed psi/psi toon is a Kinetic Melee/ Energy Aura Brute, colored right, it fits perfectly
of course, I've shelved him for now until the new shiny goodness for EA comes out in issue 21, figured the post 20 leveling experience would be better with all the new tweaks to EA. -
Quote:this is brilliant, i was going to mention rad blast, but i don't play blasters, so i only have the def and cor set as reference, not sure how well the damage scales for blasters. but the AoE potential is there, whether or not the "tough" factor is, well that is debatable. hence why i don't play blastersRad/Fire Blaster.
Irradiate
Electron Haze
Neutron Bomb
Atomic Blast
Combustion
Fire Sword Circle
Blazing Aura
Burn
Hot Feet
Throw in Mu Master for Electrifying Fences and Static Discharge, Munitions for LRM, Elec for Static Discharge and EM Pulse or Cold for Flash Freeze (Proc it up!), Hoarfrost and Hibernate.
AoE everything ever all the time, then use Consume and do it all again. I know it's not on the list, but I have to suggest it. -
Quote:Glah...
I used to love CoH because whether you solo'ed or teamed, it was fun and rewarding, even if you just jumped on for a few missions. Now, unless you can gather a large group and a significant chunk of time... not so much.
Sad that the game has moved to this...
just as a minor quibble with your post, the "game" you refer to is exactly the same, everything you could do solo before, you can do now, it's just the new post lvl 50 stuff that changes the mechanics of the game. i agree that they need to get on the ball with an acceptable solo option for post 50 content, but what is here now in no way detracts from all the previous material. -
Quote:i think i have a spare point finder that you can use, you seemed to have missed the above point. The problem with most of the builds suggested is that they ARE farming builds...Fire/Kin, SS/Fire....Give me a break! I think some people in this thread are in denial. You are naming quintessential farming builds. That you want a tough farming build means apparently you just want to farm more difficult content, but don't kid yourselves.

Quote:the flaw in this logic is this:If you're looking as Electric Melee and Shield Defense, I'd suggest taking a Shield/Electric tank rather than the scrapper. I know that the scrapper will be putting out more damage, but the defensive capability of the tank cannot be overlooked. It is by far the most enjoyable and indestructible of all my 50s (granted, not a whole lot, just a Stone/Energy/Fire tank, Fire/Fire/Fire tankFire/Kin/Stone controller, and Broadsword/Shield scrapper).
there is the same def cap for all melee toons, only resistance is capped for the different AT's. Now hitting the soft cap for def is easier (cheaper) on a tank, it's still achievable on scrappers/brutes, and therefore just as effective (well, outside of the extra hp's you get as a tank). you will do more damage with a scrapper, and close to that with a brute, then you can ever do with a tank. this is not to say that tanks, specifically this build, are not great, i love tanks, but for the orange AoE numbers, go scrapper. -
Quote:i know what ever you are thinking in your head for Whirlwind Judgment probably looks freaken awesome! but based on your description, all i get is cartoony, ridiculous images in my head..... which are kinda awesome. think roger rabbit suddenly gone all murderously zanySome physical attack ideas:
Ninja Judgement - You appear and disappear in flashes of smoke several times in the AOE radius, slashing each time you appear
Whirlwind Judgement (weapon) you spin around a lot flailing your weapon in sweeping arcs
The Judge - Ultimate Foot Stomp (Super Strength): Nuff saidnow i really want this power. it's like a judgment created by the joker.

Quote:you seem a little confused;Even if they just cover the main 5 elements I would be happy - others may not.
We have Fire
We have Water (Ice)
Need Earth
Need Air (Could consider Ion to be air)
Need Metal - not sure how it could work, possibly a Physical judgement that could fit everybody?
We have Dark, so maybe we need "Holy" - but again, Ion could cover this.
western elements = 4, earth, air, fire, water
eastern elements = 5 , fire, water, wind, wood, metal
you seemed to have combined the two, and neither one of them really fit the CoX game exactly. i would just like to see a judgment for all the damage types available in game, ain't too much to ask. -

Quote:i agree with these suggestions, except, i would recommend the scrapper be Dark Melee/Fiery Aura. DM/SR does have great (and obvious) synergy, hence why i would suggest the less then obvious at first glance synergy of DM/FA. and that Red Tornado here suggested all Def sets with no resistance (ok SA is kinda middle of the road). the pairing of DM/FA is great as it gives you 2 self heals, 2 end recovery powers, 2 "build ups", and the -ToHit helps with FA's resists, and FA's AoE's add to the lack of such in DM. this combo turns out to be freaken amazing. just my 2inf.Hello Ketch,
My recommendations are:
Kinetic Melee/Ninjitsu Stalker(the Build Up Concentrated Strike synergy is uber)
Dark Melee/Super Reflexes Scrapper(the synergies are very nice here)
Electric Melee/Sheild Defense Brute(some serious AoE killing power here, w/good synergy)
Stone Armor/Fire Melee Tank(be a Lava Monster)
Happy Gaming :-) -

Quote:Still man I don't think Fire is the best, I seen better Damage Attacks form other Melee Sets that does More Damage then Fire. I believe the only reason people use Fire is because it's a well known thing use against Fire bot in that dumb farm, like Fire/Kin use to be a really big deal on Demon Farms and other types of farms back before AE came out.
it's like he's the OP's understudy -

Quote:Don't be rediculous.
Everyone knows that the best attack chain of all time is (Fury+AAO)--> FE, Soul Drain, SC, Burn, Clobber, KoB, Crowd Control, Foot Stomp, Lightning Rod, repeat as available.
It's part of that new mix/match brute set that only VIPs with OVER 9000 who are clearly Gone To the Americans will be able to purchase with 1 billion Paragon Points.
sooooo, you're saying i'm already in? SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!
and on a side note, i have never farmed in this game, of course i have been suffering from a really really bad case of altitis for the last couple of years. I have licked that issue now (it seems, but the stupid devs are putting out new power sets, so we'll see), and i know i can't make money in this game (i think it's a birth defect). so i was thinking i may give this farming thingy a try to kit out my shiny new 50's. wasn't aware that there were still farms available in AE, thought they had nerfed those to heck and back years ago, do folks name their AE farms as such? or are there secret codes and whatnot? -

Quote:And I think it's adorable that you dispute the overwhelming scientific consensus without any credentials or evidence to back it up. *shrug* That's neither here nor there.
overwhelming scientific consensus? not even close, and to top it off, all the data from the two major sources has been proven to be falsified or manipulated. it's a political talking point, and nothing else.
and, as to the whole OP story, that's great, would be really neat if we could print out our own solar panels, but we will need to make them efficient. damned things are a great idea, and tend to fall flat in reality.
