  1. Enjoy! I am wondering how the deleted scenes will look on blu ray (hopefully we can buy the classic trilogy and not have to buy the new ones).

  2. I don't care for this trial and haven't run it more than a few times. It is a lot of unfun. Too much AT bias. The toons that didn't pump up their HP are going to take a beating.

I don't think any of the trials are epic at all and totally not worthy of being part of the road to Incarnate world. I find them disappointing. However, I didn't mind running the BAF a few times and same with the Lambda.

I don't really have any ideas that haven't already been suggested. I just wish they felt more epic and had more that a couple of significant enemies. Oh, and NOT having a Praetorian theme might also be nice
  3. Welcome to City of Repetition. Have you done the Synapse and other TFs for the lower levels (not the new Posi)?? They are the same thing over and over and over and over....I haven't played those in years...
  4. I see tons of people Lambda. I don't see many Keyes...probably because it is a lot of un-fun.

  6. Ok so I can't get the IDF gear but I did get the new powers. I design my toon and when I try to enter the game I get a mssg. saying something like: Tried to make too many characters...

Anyone know what that is all about?
  7. I think Keyes stinks and is definitely the worst of the trials. I've done it a number of times and it isn't fun. It also seems like not everyone is needed to contribute; many are used as decoys and secondary assistance. Nope, don't like it. I consider it Stinkasauraus Rex.
  8. I hope this leads to a make over of some of the signature toons. Maybe just use the assets they have so it isn't labour intensive or taking away resources.

I'll be honest, if the Phalanx graced the cover of a comic when I was collecting there is no way I'd buy it. This game is full of really not so cool looking NPCs which is a shame considering the awesome character creator. Also, too many bosses look just like the mob they're connected to (especially lower levels...I always thought that was uber lame...come fight the big boss....who looks just like everyone else...EPIC FAIL).

It would be nice to see improved character design and more supers type stuff in the game. I am SO sick of the 5th Column, CoT, Pratorians, Arachnos, Longbow etc. They just get used over and over and over...BLAH! I know these are large groups but after 7+ years we should have way more variety. Add some supers and stop with the para-military and the D&D/magic toons.
  9. Great idea for a thread. So, personally, I dislike most of the costumes our heroes wear. I think States is super corny (but acceptable as that is kinda where the idea was going...I think); I think Manticore is awful; Back Alley Brawler has a terrible costume (other than the gloves); Citadel isn't as bad but not good; Numina is ok just maybe a bit boring; Positron looks dated and clunky; Sister Psyche is cool and Synapse is kinda meh. Honestly, when I was shown this site almost 4 years ago by my friend, I thought the heroes were cheezy and B grade. The so so looking heroes actually caused me to skip this game and not play until my friend badgered me for several more months and I gave in.

I like the signature villains! Well done there. However, we need more groups of original enemies. Seeing the 5th, Nemesis, Arachnos so so often is too much (and now the Praetorians).

The Praetorian mains are decent as well (Marauder is a much better version but to have cables holding his gloves together is meh). Much better job with GR characters.

Just on a bit of a tangent, the constant use of non-spectacular looking enemies is a bit annoying. So many bosses look just like the mob (Skuls etc). Also having many main characters being alternate versions of one person is very lame in my opinion (ex.: States is also Imperius etc).

Adding missions that just tackle other supers would be cool. Not other mobs or groups but like another super team. The key is to make them visually stunning. There are far too many examples where this game just has the dullest looking enemies and does not take advantage of the great costume creator. Throw in some supers and maybe don't have them appear all over - it may cause us to play that content because the experience is unique.

I'm definitely buying Street Justice as soon as it's available (even if I have to pay a little cash for it instead of just using my free points), and will probably buy any interesting costume items as they appear as well.
I agree BUT some of us are on budgets. Do you think we will wait until we have enough VIP points to purchase a power or costume pack or power? Maybe. More than likely, I doubt it.

Makes me kinda wonder why keep paying a monthly sub. I know if I don't it may lock some of your toons (if you have a ton of alts like me). That is my concern. I don't mind reduced content access; most of the content is a re-hash; I am betting the signature arc will be the same old maps with a new story (*yawn*); and the trials are kinda lame after the first 50 times ( ).

    Anyway, something to mull over...

NO! Your monthly subscription price will stay exactly the same. Multi-month subscriptions will continue to receive the discount they currently do. One of the overarching goals of City of Heroes Freedom is to provide more value to our existing Community under their new VIP status.

I hope this will put a fork in this particular topic, and as always please feel free to ask any other questions you may have regarding this particular topic here.

The cost of your month to month sub fee may stay the same but, in the end, you will likely spend more money than ever before on this game.

If we stay subscribed we build up points (maybe 400) but most items will be a lot more (I know all pricing isn't final but I am sure we have a good idea of costs). So, you can wait several months and get some store items for free. I am betting many players will be VERY tempted by the store items and buy things ASAP and spend extra money in the store. I am thinking NC Soft is betting the same thing. Sadly, at the end of the day,a VIP may spend a good chunk of change on the game if the store weekly additions like we suspect.

Hopefully I'm wrong and VIPs won't have to drop a lot of extra $. Maybe if the store offers all items at a significant discount to VIPs it might be more enticing to keep paying a monthly sub.

It has f**kall to do with "the rest of the game".
Yep. This and some servers have low pops despite the constant fanboys chiming in.
  13. How do you change your log in screen?? I hate the ancient ones we have now. I'd love to use almost anything else!
  14. I kinda bailed on AE after I did my 3 short missions. The constant updates render some of the arcs not valid and include a huge list of errors. I fixed 2 of the 3 but they never really get play so I don't really bother.

I do appreciate more memory for your missions and was very tempted to update arcs but still haven't bothered. I only use custom critters and refuse to use the same old NPCs we've been seeing for years. I do like AE and find it to be a great tool but the interest is just too low.
  15. Thanks for the news!

I'm also wondering if there was ANY word on the content coming our way?

We were told of monthly signature arcs coming our way. I'm hoping they're interesting and fun to play and not like these arcs we're normally getting (more interesting story, unique SUPER enemies and original maps are my hopes).

What about any increase in addition of content? I'll be honest, the 4+ months between issues has caused a huge reduction in my playtime and sub here. New costume pieces and powers are nice but when you get those, it is still a lot of repetitive, redundant game play. That will not hold me for a long time and I am sure many others are also in that same boat. Add unique, compelling content on a more frequent basis
  16. I think all types of farms will be around as long as this game is around. Unfortunately, after 7+ years, this game does not offer as many unique experiences as you would think. The same maps, enemy groups and lots of repetition cause players to leave or grow tired of missions, TFs etc.
  17. I prefer the fewer zones of the red side and the ATs have always been cooler (well, used to be...now anyone can be any alignment). Anyway, blue side has way too many zones and lots of those are dead. Red side gives you more focus and less pointless running around
  18. No news of the upcoming content? As in the signature arcs or if they will be providing content on a more frequent basis.

I think the CoX team figured it out - release stuff quicker to keep us around. I see a lot of the competition has taken this route. Now all the CoX team has to do it provide more compelling and original content

New powers etc are great but, at the end of the day, we're doing the same old stuff with some new powers.

Yep, different teams do different things. I do believe that is how it works BUT only a certain amount of resources are available. So they choose to use them on prolif. Only a finite amount of things can be put in each issue and they went with prolif. as one of the items for i21. I would have liked them to improve a lot of the TFs and SFs - anywhere from simple tweaks to an overhaul and new art...anything...so many of them just suck...
  21. How about not bother with powerset prolif and fix all of the old TFs and SFs instead. This game seems to forget having things to do (that are fun) trumps this type of thing. This is my opinion, of course

It's not often in an MMO community where you can actually ask questions and get help without being smacked over the head with some sort of "thou-shalt-not-be-a-newb" stick.

So thanks again and I'll definitely be back with more questions after I can stop playing for longer than five minutes.=)
    Welcome.

The game is very addicting and can be tons of fun. I enjoy it but the repetitive nature does get to me sometimes (using the same mission maps and enemies over and over). If that isn't too much of an issue for you then you'll be in heaven!
  23. I thought this might help guide the devs in what the players like and do not like. It may also give players some real insight into what people do enjoy. So, I will get the ball rolling here.

    TFs:
ITF; STF; the new Positrons;Lady Gray is ok; Tin Mage and Apex are decent; Twilight's Son is ok.

    SF:
LRSF; Tarikoss is tolerable...kinda; Mender Silos is decent.

    Story arcs:
I find a few fun to play but that's about it. They are repetitive maps/enemies and get stale quick even if the plot changes.

    RADIOS/PAPER:
Rarely do them. Very cut and paste. Same thing over and over.

    TRIALS:
I like the change in play style and mechanics. It'd be nice to see something non-Praetorian.

I enjoy teaming with people over vent. That has kept me going here for a while. The content is stale and it is tough to retain casual players.
  24. Yeah I like the trials and don't really solo much. THis is an MMO so yeah...

Having said that, I am tired of these trials/raids and hope they come to their senses and give us iXP via Tin Mage and Apex TFs. I am sure they will be giving alternate paths to obtain incarnate powers. I think the trick is to make them multi-purposed; something a regular 50 and incarnate can play so it isn't as isolated.

It would also be nice if we could stop adding Praetorian stuff. It has been done to death.
  25. It'd be nice if we had something with a different theme. How about something new and not Praetorian. Also maybe think about the mechanics of the trials a bit more. The first two were decent but the Keyes one is kinda meh.
