Quote:Generally speaking, as long as you're polite, state clearly what you're running (paper/radio/tips/ae/storyArc/flashback/tf/trial/etc, level, and zone), most people won't mind getting tells as long as you pay attention to their LFG message. If they REALLY didn't want others contacting them with teaming opportunities, they can set their LFG flag to not looking, add an appropriate message (not that anyone reads them :P), and adjust their /hide settings. It's a major concern for me. I click the LfG tab, and I see the Incarnate Trials which are both late level and non-premium content. I regularly see a lot of request across the broadcast channel, but last checked that will not be a tool for premium players. I will have access to tells, but it would pain me to become one of those people who send random tells to players minding their own bussiness. And don't get me started on random group invites.
Quote:Moving beyond any tools I might be missing... what are the qualifiers for looking for a group? A level 10 corrupter slugging through storyline in Nova gets a group request tell from a level 18 and I have to stop and take the time to explain to him that I won't help him because by association to his level he must be in Neutropolis and I'm just not ready to set foot over there. I've received other less extreme requests from people who go so far to state they don't care about the level discrepancy when my real (and stated) concern is what content they plan on running. -
From Astral Christy:
All > Account Rewards > Unlocks
Should display two 'recipes' "Unlock Capes" and "Unlock Auras", at a cost of 5 astrals each. they will not display if you don't have 5 astrals and have the "recipes missing ingrediants" selected for the "hide..." settings. -
Stuff breaks all the time on live, and that has a buffer in the form of the test server to try to catch the worst of it. I don't think it's unreasonable, then, to expect problems on beta - ESPECIALLY with the sudden influx in the number of testers. Part of an open beta is the stress test; things that worked 'fine' in closed beta with a limited user base may break under the weight of a dramatic increase in users. If/when they do break the devs can then fix and optimize to account for it. The Beta exists to diagnose these problems.

Quote:Eh? slotting has no effect on this; To make a Tier2, the recipe consumes the T1 you made. Then the T3 in turn consumes the T2. At any point, slotting the previous tier has no bearing on this process. If the component is slotted, the component is removed from the slot and sacrificed to make the new shiny. If the component is not slotted, it is still sacrificed.so your almost better off not slotting any tier 1-3 to get the tier 4 "easier" with out having to make repeats...grrr
The only part where the "slot Incarnate Power-A, craft slightly better Incarnate Power-B , repeat" process is interrupted is when you are going for T4, as you need a second T3. Since your first T3 consumed the T2 which consumed the T1, you need to craft a new T1. The second run through T1-2-3 does not need to be slotted.
Note that whichever of the Tier 4s you go for (Core or Radial), you can scroll down to view multiple recipes. For both there are recipes for any combination of two of the four different T3. -
Quote:And if you want to look at a more detailed explanation: law of fivesEach will stack up to 5 times. So you can have 5 x 6.25, 5 x 7.5 etc.
Essentially, the limitation of 5 of the same bonus applies to the NAME of the bonus, and not the value (there's a set bonus that gives +7.5% rech called "huge recharge bonus", while the enhancement from LotG is called "luck of the gambler: recharge speed". so you could stack 5 of each) -
Yay! MUCH improved! Thanks for listening, devs! Posi's "subtle tweaks" message had me a bit concerned, but this? Joygasm
.
Clearly from some of the posts in this thread, it's impossible to please everyone. But this version is much improved over what we saw from the pics in the other thread, and this version of the revamp looks and feels like the Circle of Thorns. -
And just as a "best practices" when actively transferring things by global email;
-Send a 'blank' email to your global @name (messages need something in the subject line and body; I use "reply to send to self" in both). This should send you the blank mail, and it will sit in your inbox. To send anything to your other characters, reply to the blank, and drag+drop items and/or input the inf amount to be transferred. This helps reduce the likelihood of a typo sending your stuff to someone else.
-If you are transferring/storing a large sum of inf or expensive recipes or enhancements via email, it may not be a bad idea to keep an external record of it; Errors do occasionally happen, and if you need to contact support about it, it can help them restore your stuff if you tell them exactly what vanished. -

Quote:Our community takes pride in being the most helpful one around. Sometimes we get a bit exasperated with certain individuals who have a history of being rude/confrontational despite our best efforts to assist them. But even then, most of us are actively attempting to assist/inform.This game rocks! Some game fourms the replies to questions in posts are...well rude and childish. It's nice to see chivalry isn't dead.
I think the closest we get to rude and childish is when we start arguing over who is the most correct. -
I don't see it much anymore either.... but then most of my teaming is now in the incarnate trials...

To be fair, when you run an AI on a potato, a few small things have to be omitted. They kept the slow clap processor though, so there's that.

If the Wiki entry on the subject is correct, and it often is, clicking the glowie and disabling the towers makes the league ineligeble for one of the astral rewards.
And, really, there's rarely a reason to disable the towers; If you pull NS/Siege to the wall north of the courts, that's in the towers' blind spot. If you know where to stand (between the buildings for NS, in the doorway for Siege) you can stay out of the line of fire while keeping them separated. Pretty sure there's blind spots around the helipad too if you've got most of a team focusing on the adds. -
Quote:Y'just need common ground. Find a way to achieve world domination through the consumption of large quantities of alcohol. Host a world wide BYOBB kegger the night before the squirrely wrath. It'll probably keep most of humanity off balance. While I am a card carrying member of the Cult of Foamy there is no other similarity between the two organizations other than the squirrely reference. The Cult of Foamy seeks world domination, while the Church of the Drunken Squirrel seeks to consume large quantities of alcohol. Not exactly overlapping goals.
Back on to the original topic - I'd probably only reserve one or two names (Assuming Forbin doesn't consider them good). But I wouldn't be devastated if I didn't get them. I rarely wander off of Triumph as it is, I don't see the new server changing that. -
Is this church in any way related to the Foamy Cult? I don't think it would be proper to support two differing squirrel based religions.

It may be an option that was later removed; in these cases those who already had it can keep it, but if they try to alter any part of the costume or powers (and confirm the changes), they'd loose it. I'm still kicking myself for overriding my magic bolero + wings costume while customizing powers when that came out.

Quote:It does, and this is the only 'issue' related to the incarnate abilities and switching that I can think of. And I hear there's ways around it. Like if you're on a league, getting the leader to move you to a new team -may- reset your timer allowing you to swap out abilities (if any incarnate abilities are still recharging though, you can't swap those out)... another possibility I heard about was zoning, If you leave the map the cooldown timer is reset (again, still bound by the recharge).(I'm not 100% sure, but I think it counts your teammates' combat actions against the 5 minute cooldown timer as well.)
And the recharge limitation on switching out abilities might be avoided by switching builds (it resets the recharge on things like self-destruct and the accolades (demonic/eye of the magus)). Even if this works it has limited usefulness, however, as the cooldown for switching builds is much longer than the recharge of any (current) incarnate ability. And if you don't have a combat ready second build? well... -
Legacy Fitness will work exactly as it used to, but when you respec or start an alternate build, you'll get Inherrant fitness, and then be able to select 3 new powers. However, you still have the same number of slots to distribute, so unless you can shift a few slots over from other powers (usually by frankenslotting) it's best to pick up things that don't require much slotting (hasten, combat jumping, hover, tp friend) or can be used as a mule for things like Luck of the gambler's recharge boost.

You might get more help over at the Tech Issues & bugs board; read through the [Guide] Asking for technical help on the forums. sticky and post your CoH Helper and HijackThis reports. That should give them enough information to diagnose your problems.
However, off the top of my head, are your graphics drivers up to date? Side Note; I have heard that the newest ATI drivers aren't being too friendly with the game and many have recommended rolling back to earlier drivers (I think 11.5 and 11.2, but I'm not positive on the numbers, I'd wait for confirmation on that before acting on my advice about Drivers)... -

*shrug* the camera does what I need it to - nothing more, nothing less. And there were a few options in there that I didn't even know we had. Only option that I can think of that is missing is the ability to 'lock' the camera onto the targeted enemy (so that strafing circles the target)... And considering 99.99% of the time we're dealing with flunkies that often drop faster than some of my AoEs animate... I don't see that being a problem.

Quote:Now, since I haven't (yet?) bought CoH through steam, I don't have the "official" library page, but checking the "properties" of games I do own through steam, there seems to be no way to switch the link's target to a different executable, and creating a desktop shortcut through steam doesn't work any better. So unless you know your way around steam's interface better tham me (not hard), You may need to use the above "add non-steam game" method. But if you want City if Heroes in your Steam Library, and be able to open the Steam overlay while playing CoH:
- At the top, under 'Games', click "Add a Non-Steam Game to My Library...",
- Click 'Browse', go to your City of Heroes directory, and open Cityofheroes.exe,
- Right click on the new entry in your library and select 'properties'
- Change the name (first text box) to whatever you want (This is what's displayed to friends when steam informs them "[name] is now playing [game]")
- In the 'Target' box, change it so it looks like
Code:
"[path]\cityofheroes.exe" -project coh
- add in whatever other things you use, like "-maxinactivefps 5"
- Launch the game though your shiny new steam shortcut.
Also, if the updater using resources while you play is an issue, under File > Settings, you can change the 'After launching a game:' drop-down to "Exit Launcher". I think there also might be commands to add to the shortcut that will make it automatically launch CoH (provided it doesn't have to update) when you run the launcher, but I'm not familiar with them. -
Give me a sec, I had posted something along these lines not too long ago, I'll dig it up.

Pretty sure Right Mouse works that way by default, and free camera is Middle mouse (clicking the wheel) by default...
At any rate... [menu] > [Options] > [Keymapping] > under the "View" heading:
On Demand Mouse Look ("move camera with player turning as well")
Rotate Camera (" free camera look independent of character movement")
also options to orient character to camera, or camera to character, I usually just toggle 3rd person view with B... Or zoom all the way in then back out. -
Quote:Ok, this may make sense then - if threads drop like shards (Everyone has a chance to pickup a thread from a fallen enemy- rather than chance for drop then distributed to a teammate at random), when they made the entire league get credit for kills, you'd have chance to get the threads from enemies the entire league defeats, rather than just your team (notably at the sabotage league split stage)...yes I got 15 or so when the Ixp was borked. Before conversion of Astral - last night I checked this same toon after a lambda AND a BAF - had not done anything with the first 4 threads and had a total of 8 threads for 3 runs
While adjusting the iXP to account for this, they may have also adjusted the thread drop rate.
So it might be better explained as a temporary thread drop rate increase that was re-adjusted back to near normal.
