Or like Manipogo (Monster of Lake Manitoba); Named in a similar fashion to the Okanagan Lake monster (Ogopogo).
Although we don't really shorten it's name to anything. So there's not much to base any arbitrary gender assignments from, unless you want to call it Mannie. -
Not sure if this will help, but you could try deleting all cookies related to the boards... Sometimes it works, other times the problem persists (If it persists, It will likely remember the new last read post, and then get stuck on that one). Note that this will remove any "keep me logged in" settings you currently have setup, and will likely make all posts appear unread.
Not sure how to neatly do this in any other browser, but in firefox it's;
Tools > Options > Privacy > Show Cookies > type 'cityof' in the search bar, and delete all cookies from "boards.cityofheroes.com" -
Just... be sure the image is hosted somewhere you can control it or your sure is trustworthy. Last thing you want is your nice appropriate picture being switched out on the hosting site for something that could earn you a vacation from the boards.

Just putting this out there, but I found that (in one of my older systems) upgrading my ram was THE biggest performance booster for CoH. I'd try getting at least another gig into that, if it's an option. I'd say two; But then you start running into the limitations of a 32bit OS...

As far as I'm aware, the only temp powers that are not supposed to be affected by damage bonuses are the vet ones.
edit: also self-destruct, possibly... I generally only use that as a 10 second activation trip to the hospital. -

Also, as has been mentioned near the start of the thread; A number of our users are running the game on low-end machines. Machines that have trouble, on low population servers, of keeping up with the gathering of players/critters during events... And I'm talking regular events like a MS raid or Rikti invasion.
The recent 6th anniversary event, I went on virtue the first day; Horrible. While my system handled it like a champ (barely), others' couldn't... And I think the server its self was having troubles keeping track of all the recharge times. It was almost impossible to do anything because my powers were stuck recharging (even though they'd long ago recharged on my screen.)
While the next day, on triumph (one of the "dead"er servers), It was smoother, for the most part. I could actually enjoy the event and 'arrest' various large things along with everyone else (And believe me, there were still a lot of people there, despite the server's perceived size). Gatherings that cause everyone to come out of the woodworks like that are rare, but they do a good job of showing how populated the servers really are.
My only complaint is that certain things seem to affect low population servers disproportionally. The occasional new games and open betas do make it a bit more difficult to find teams... Although most of the time I'm among those checking out the new shineys, so I guess I'm part of that 'problem'. -
Quote:I like this; Often I'd just like to re-choose the last few powers (see: the adding of the 5th power to app/ppp, and re-chosing of ppp) and it would be so nice to just keep everything as it is, and go back a couple of steps. Although I'm guessing the biggest hurtle to this is that the game does not currently track which slots were placed when.A "version" of respec that we can call "respec lite" (just to call it something). Performing it costs a respec, just like doing a full respec would, but:
1. A "respec lite" assumes you intend to keep exactly the same powers at exactly the same level you got them before, with exactly the same slotting.
2. It "starts" by opening up the "place enhancements" screen you see at the end of a full respec, but...
3. Unlike a full respec, it leaves your enhancement in their original slots. As is normal for the place enhancements screen, though, you can move slotted enhancements around (e.g. to your enhancement tray, the "still to place or they'll get sold" window below). -

I don't wish to contest any of your other points, but I can't resist this. The end is in sight; It's 2 billion. Granted if the perceived value of an item ever warrants it, users could start exchanging outside the market, but there's an element of risk to trusting the user you're making the deal with.
-
But, was it market cost? It could be the same the same factor that drives market costs up in the first place. The items are highly desirable, on just about any character.

*shudder* I... I'm sorry... in theory, and to a degree, in practice, that may work. But quite frankly I -hate- this in Cryptic's recent two games. (Although I was pleasently amused by someone flying around as DarmokAndJalad@Tanagra)

I think milehigh77 encountered this bug as well, and brought it up in the "ripped off big" thread.
A work-around seems to have been figured out, but darned if I understood it.
EDIT; removing useless quote, As milehigh explained it much more concisely about a minute later \/.\/ -
Actually, I rather think it's working as intended, if I'm reading the OP correctly. Normally, patrol XP is earned just for your self, the purple bar replaces the blue as the bar fills (actually due to the effects of rounding, you can sometimes observe the blue bar reducing it's self by a point or so for every kill).
But when you're pacted you observe how the system really works;
You kill enemy Y, worth 1000 XP.
You are still under the effects of patrol, so that's increased to 1500 XP
1500 XP is reduced from the blue patrol bar.
(NORMALLY you don't see this, as the purple bar increases by 1500, pushing the end point of the blue bar exactly where it was before)
750 XP is awarded to you, and 750 XP is awarded to your level pact.
Net loss on the blue bar is 750 XP, so it gets reduced.
Also, Patrol XP pays off debt, so that will also reduce the blue bar.
... Unless you knew all this and there's some other oddity going on, but then you're going to have to be more specific... -
Pretty sure it's a quirk of how the forum software works (in terms of "active" users). Probably only keeps track of who loaded a forum page within the last hour or two...
Plus, I'm faily sure active game subscriptions hovers around the 100k mark; just saying. -

Quote:I... had a long 5 page essay (exaggeration, but it was lengthy and detailed) typed out, and then when I hit submit It directed me to a plaync page that said "bad input", an I lost the whole thing, so I'll just summarize the points I was making.[...]finding teams is like pulling teeth and im on freedom[...]
Friends are saying that WoW is takeing there toons to lvl 85 soon. Any talk of going above 50?[...]
Teams: Most of the game takes place in instances where people don't hear your lft broadcasts. Scroll down to the server boards, and in your server of choise, look for global channels and active SGs to join (if you aren't on a trial, if you are make a post there saying as much, and people will likely try to help you out).
WoW: WoW's system dangles a carrot in front of your face an occasionally allows you a nibble. Our system hands you the carrot, and then challenges you to eat all of the carrots in the huge pile over there. Neither system is inherently wrong, and certainly both have their appeal... But suggesting that our system start down the path of carrot dangling when we've relied keeping people occupied with the pile for so long will not end well. -
Aah, the "worst release since X" thread... I was wondering how long it would be...

Quote:Generally, as long as one comes in with genuine desire to learn, we do our best to oblige.Everyone you have been such a great help! All the suggestions will be used as I found them very helpful. Also I want to say that this has to be one of the best communities I have ever been in. Not one person was negative or sarcastic.
P.s. ::Shakes fist at ElectroHawk for highjacking my thread!::
But there are some sore spots that we get a little tired of hearing over and over again. And we tend to react less friendly towards them. The most obvious one that comes to mind is server (or overall) population. Feel free to ask about better ways to form teams, but... Don't make assumptions on why you haven't had any luck. just a friendly heads-up. -
Doesn't have to give a good price when selling... Could be about the price the origin vendors give you if you sell something not of their origin.

Quote:I didn't experience too much lag on Triumph, graphics all ran smoothly, but at a certain concentration of GMs/AVs and Players, something (either my hardware, the game's software, the server, or something in between) had a heck of a time keeping track of which powers were recharged or not. The icons in my tray looked recharged, but I got the "still recharging" sound effect when I tried to use some powers frequntly. There is some confusion between lag and the computer sucks. I've had people say CoH lags when they start approaching a WW. Huh? What are the odds?
I've never had a computer that made it so I couldn't approach WW. But I did quit years ago, before there was WW actually, because I couldn't approach a group of people with capes. My computer sucked. CoH didn't start lagging when I saw capes. It was fine.
If the server only lags when your computer needs to have a better graphics card, hey, that's such a strange coincidence. -
Quote:Fairly sure it's because tickets are awarded like any other drop... enhancements, recipes and salvage all being converted into relative ticket value before being awarded...And so on. I'm going to address the question at hand instead.
Back when I was spending time with the MA arcs-only SG, we often found that the end of the arc bonus tickets would vary wildly from person to person - one got 220, another 67, stuff like that. I don't know if we ever were able to determine what was up with that, we just kept playing.
(most) Every critter has a chance to drop something, and then that something is awarded to a random team member (in this case, converted into tickets). Then as far as I can tell, when the mission is completed, you are awarded tickets equal in number to how many you collected in the mission*.
*up to the cap; if you hit the ticket cap before completing the mission, you get no bonus tickets. The cap is determined roughly by the size of the map and the number of spawns therein. Interestingly, when you complete the mission, the cap resets, and any further tickets earned from defeats (that would have otherwise been blocked due to reaching the cap) can once more be earned (until you hit the cap again.)
This is all based off of my recollection of the system... it may have been drastically changed since then. -
Quote:The rest might be better served PMing Positron, War Witch, or some other dev... This is the forum for players answering players' questions... as a general rule the devs don't often reply...I need some help with a college project. I'm an I.T. Student. I've got a Disaster Recovery class this quarter.
But, uh, as for the first part... If you get ANYTHING out of this class, please, PLEASE let it be that if your company is storing physical media off-site with a 3rd party; Ensure that enough people on your staff are authorized to perform the exchange. If I had a quarter for every client that called me because they were charged for a media exchange that didn't occur... ... (actually it was more like the same few clients over and over again.)
