    Back into game

    Welcome.

I'm not certain how the Australia channel is set up, but I do know how channels in general work.

Some global channels are set to Silence on Join to keep people from spamming the channel. This means that anyone new joining the channel cannot talk in the channel until they are unsilenced by one of the channel operators. It's really helpful for public channels to keep repetitively offensive posters from leaving the channel and then rejoining it to get around being silenced for misbehaving.

Just send a /tell to the global name of one of the channel ops asking them to unsilence you. Channel ops have a star beside their name in the channel list.

You may also want to join the channels Justice For All and/or Justice United as they are two of the largest channels on Justice. I know JFA is set for Silence on Join but I don't know about JU. As I said before, just send a tell to an op and they'll unsilence you.

    Better yet, Bacon Waffles!!!

    Thanks Mike (aka Bob)!
  3. My recollection of policy matches yours and the support article. My recollection of history with the extra global handle change grant coincides with yours.

    ParagonWiki has the same information.

My suspicion is that either they are jerking someone's chain in the Exalted Help channel, are confusing it with character respecs, or are just plain wrong (yeah, I can use that word, it doesn't violate forum rules ).

(yes, I did scuttle. it was darn near Zoidberg woob woob woob scuttling.)
    Pics or it didn't happen.

    Interesting.

My last out of state trip was in November when I went to California. I logged in on two computers that weren't mine from two different IP addresses that weren't mine.

In addition, I logged in from my laptop that I almost never use to access Facebook from 3 different locations and IP addresses.

I'm not sure why it's not what you expected from me, aside from the fact that you don't know me. People that know me would expect a comment exactly like that from me.

See that little at the end of the post? It's labeled as Roll Eyes (Sarcastic) when you hover over it. Just as your is labeled Big Grin when you hover over it.

I've said it in the past and I'll say it again now:

Other than my posts offering Technical help, if you aren't reading the sarcasm in my posts, you need to read it again.
  8. Something to do with Stage 2 of the download. That's about all I can make of it.
  9. The small dark spots on top of the head are from rain falling on me as I stood outside to have the picture taken.

Yes, there are times I'm too stupid to come in out of the rain.

Okay, you can't talk about the supercontinent, the ancient Sumerian city-state, the programming language, the Steven King novella (downloadable onto your Kindle), the University of Rochester, the University of Richmond, the German prefix, the boards game, the 3-piece band or any other person, place or thing that is spelled ur.

    Got it.

And then you'll have people using the /ignorespammer command to grief other players into being unable to talk to anyone.

What's your global again? Just in case this gets implemented.

  12. There was a post in Gameplay/Technical Issues & Bugs forum section about it. Someone had gotten a reply from a Senior GM after it had been escalated that this is the correct behavior and any different behavior previously had been a bug. Of course, the post was removed since they posted the response instead of just summarizing it, and that's a violation of the forum rules. I had seen that post so I remember it, even though it's been removed.

Apparently you need to do the entire arc based on what the player was told by Support.

I've not seen an official comment from any rednames as to whether or not the GM was correct, or even if this is the way it is supposed to work.

    Wrong thread.

You need to post this in the Level Bump Request thread in the Beta forums.
  14. Your playerslot.txt file is either locked, set as Read-Only, or corrupted.

Go into your game installation folder. Open the folder named the same as your account username. In this folder is a file called playerslot.txt that holds the order of the characters. Right-click the file and select Properties. At the bottom of the Properties window, look to see if there is a checkmark in Read-Only. If it's there, then it's set to Read-Only and your changes won't save. If it's not, then the file is either locked or corrupted and I'd err on the side of caution and say it's corrupted.

You can either set the attributes on the file to not be Read-Only (if that is what is causing it), or you can delete the file (a better scenario in case it's corrupted), log into the game, rearrange your characters as you want them, log in to one of the characters and then log out to the Desktop.

That should rewrite the file. If you want, you can set it as Read-Only at this point to keep it from jumbling. Just follow the steps I gave you to open the Properties page and put a check in Read-Only.

You'll need to follow these steps for each account. Just look for the folder in the installation directory that is named for the account.

Be aware that if you create a new character it won't be saved to the list and will get added to the end and rearranging it won't save the order. You'd have to change the attribute again, log in and arrange the characters, then log out for it to re-write the file with the new characters added.

EDIT: I see this occasionally when people are transferring files from one computer installation to another. The files they copy from the CD or DVD get set to Read-Only when they put them on the new computer.

    Shenanigans.

I've logged in to Facebook from various states without a problem.

I've not seen Facebook use any location tracking system that locks me out of my account.

    Shenanigans.

    Need Help.

To try to understand what you are doing better, I'll ask a few questions. Some will direct you to skip to a different question. One of the things that I'm confused about is where you are not seeing the option to log into the game and are only seeing the Play for Free link.

Have you installed the NCLauncher? If yes, continue, if not, download and install it from this link.

Where are you trying to launch the game from? If you are trying to launch it from the website, you are doing it wrong. You need to launch it from the NCLauncher.

Is the game listed in the NCLauncher as being installed? If not, you do not have the game installed through the Launcher. You can right-click on the City of Heroes entry and select Install Game.

If you are trying to launch it from the NCLauncher, do you have a proxy set on your computer? The NCLauncher will not work with any proxies set and will give an error message similar to what you reported.

If the game still will not launch, you have a few options. You can follow the instructions in Hyperstrike's [Guide] Asking for technical help on the forums thread and post the results from those programs in the ALL ACCESS: Gameplay/Technical Issues & Bugs forum section or you can file a support ticket at https://support.cityofheroes.com at any time. That site lets you submit tickets 24 hours/day and 7 days/week. It doesn't matter if it's the weekend. There is also a support email address of support@coh.com that works 24/7 as well.

You will have to create a support account if you use the support site, it is not the same account as your game account.

The only thing unavailable from the support site on the weekend is the Live Chat. Phone support is also not available on weekends.

Since I have the option to send a PM to the poster, it's obvious that they are VIP.

Makes all the other arguments moot.

The question was submitted in-game, not using either the support site or support email address.

Even though it's often the same GM that responds, they aren't allowed to provide in-game support, even answering questions, for non-VIP accounts.

Would it be nice if they would just answer a question? Sure.

Would it be worth the possibility of them being reprimanded or losing their job? Not at all.
  19. Keep it. I have a much better source of hugs.

Your hugs are not wanted or appreciated.

  21. What does bases have to do with the topic of the thread? The thread is about Tier 9 and the cheapest way to get there. By extension, since the OP later mentioned Tier 9 VIP it covers the discussions of the Tier 9 VIP rewards in the Paragon Market.

And what did all of that have to do with bases?

    Oh right.

    Nothing.
  22. Based on Kyriani's post, I tried to copy a character to Beta. Two hours later, it's still not there. Time to PM the OCR team again.

    *sigh*
