Need Help.

I've been trying to log onto my account and play the game for the last 8 hours. The installing process and downloading has run me around in circles most of this time. Now I can't log onto my account due to password issues. I typed in my pass word to be told i wasn't the right one. No problem, I sent a reset and got a new one. It happened again. Then again and again. I even cut and pasted the passwords so I know they were right. Now it won't let me in my account until "wait a few minutes and try again". Well a half hour latter was not enough minutes for it and I want to know how much longer I must wait? I even tried deleting the whole game off my computer and re-installing it to no avail. Also when I made my first character it would not let me past due to part 2 not being done downloading yet. I thought this strange since it was still at 0%. Which means it was not even downloading. From what I can tell. I even tried making a new account after I deleted everything and started over. Any advice?

Contact Support. Seriously. It sounds pretty weird.

Aggelakis says they'll answer to email and AAQ from the support site. I'm not positive either, but hopefully they would do so.

They answered my F2P account's AAQ petition about a stuck mission.

You can't submit a /petition ingame and get a response. (They'll tell you it's only for VIPs, which is hysterical because THEY TAKE TIME TO WRITE YOU instead of just turning off /petition for freebies/preemies.) You can submit an AAQ and get a response, which is what I did.

The question was submitted in-game, not using either the support site or support email address.

Even though it's often the same GM that responds, they aren't allowed to provide in-game support, even answering questions, for non-VIP accounts.

Would it be nice if they would just answer a question? Sure.

Would it be worth the possibility of them being reprimanded or losing their job? Not at all.


If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Since I have the option to send a PM to the poster, it's obvious that they are VIP.

That's the real kicker, I can't do it until monday because there is no one there. I made all the accounts I was suppose to make but it kept sending me in circles back to make accounts I already made and to download the same things. Then the password issues which I won't go into. Then I finally get it downloaded and ready to play I'm told. Then it tells me it can't connect me because of a firewall or a server is down. Now I know I allowed it on my firewall. So does anyone know if the server is down? Please help someone, this is driving me INSANE! AHHHHHHH!

It must be something on my end. But what I can't figure it out. I used repair on it and it said: encountered error access denied. Well that helps a lot huh?

Hey thanks. But now it's not even giving me the option to log into the game. It just says play for free. But I'm VIP. I go to play for free it says make an account, I made an account. Then it says make an account and download game which I have done like 20 times now. Then it send me back to the beginning and says play for free, make an account. Blah blah blah.

It does not give an option to log in. It just gives me one big circle of things I already did.

I'm really sorry you're having problems. I'd recommend asking the question again up in the technical issues forum, where the most technically savvy players congregate.

To try to understand what you are doing better, I'll ask a few questions. Some will direct you to skip to a different question. One of the things that I'm confused about is where you are not seeing the option to log into the game and are only seeing the Play for Free link.

Have you installed the NCLauncher? If yes, continue, if not, download and install it from this link.

Where are you trying to launch the game from? If you are trying to launch it from the website, you are doing it wrong. You need to launch it from the NCLauncher.

Is the game listed in the NCLauncher as being installed? If not, you do not have the game installed through the Launcher. You can right-click on the City of Heroes entry and select Install Game.

If you are trying to launch it from the NCLauncher, do you have a proxy set on your computer? The NCLauncher will not work with any proxies set and will give an error message similar to what you reported.

If the game still will not launch, you have a few options. You can follow the instructions in Hyperstrike's [Guide] Asking for technical help on the forums thread and post the results from those programs in the ALL ACCESS: Gameplay/Technical Issues & Bugs forum section or you can file a support ticket at https://support.cityofheroes.com at any time. That site lets you submit tickets 24 hours/day and 7 days/week. It doesn't matter if it's the weekend. There is also a support email address of support@coh.com that works 24/7 as well.

You will have to create a support account if you use the support site, it is not the same account as your game account.

The only thing unavailable from the support site on the weekend is the Live Chat. Phone support is also not available on weekends.
