When they started doing them, Ghost Falcon was doing the updates and, knowing him, he set it that way since he was likely up at the time anyway and voluntarily logged in from home to do the updates.
When they decided to hand it off to Alpha Wolf, it was likely decided to make it so that it was only done during office hours and not interfere with their personal time. -
Quote:Actually, that's handled by the Producers, so yes, they are a part of the Development staff. They probably don't need development staff to make the change either though.
They've made the decision to keep the updates delegated to either a Producer or Associate Producer.
It's a small part of their job. -
Quote:The Customer Support staff works 24/7. They are based in Austin. Because Support issues arise at all hours.A pre-written announcement page takes seconds to put up.
And they seriously have no trustworthy staff working at that time in a global game?
I don't really care when things get changed, but I hate seeing excuses made on other people's behalf.
The Server Support staff likely has someone working at all times. Because Server issues can arise at all hours.
The Web Team in Seattle may or may not have someone on staff at all times. I don't know for certain about them. But it's possible that they do.
The Developers have no need to be running a 24-hour crew. They aren't doing development of the game round-the-clock. Not even a freshly launched game or a game in late Beta would need a round-the-clock Development staff.
As for the announcement, sure, I'd prefer to see a pre-written announcement post that is ready to put up the second that the Market is updated.
I'd also prefer to see Patch Notes put up immediately when the servers are patched. They know ahead of time what's going to be in the patch so they should be able to have those ready to post.
Since that hasn't happened in over 8 years of the games release for patches, I doubt we'll see it for the (relatively new) Paragon Market updates unless there is a major shift in the thought process behind the release of that information.
But they still don't need to have any Development Staff on duty round-the-clock. -
That's the response you'll get when a .Net application fails to respond, usually due to the computer going into Hibernate or Sleep modes.

Although it's lame that 'compare/contrast' threads are only BADDY BAD BAD when players post them.Quote:yeah, the irony of self-promotion through comparison when we can't compare is somewhat tasty.
You know I didn't greatly miss the comparison discussions until recently when I began perusing another game's boards that allows them, and I realized they can add a lot of value to understanding and enjoyment of what the game offers.
Oh, and voted for CoH...
It is cluttered and unwieldy these days due to all the many options, even if it is the best. I agree on the redesign need.
He posted a link to a Leaderboard article on another site where they pit our costume creator against those from two other MMO's. He didn't even say what MMO's or if they are in the same genre as CoH.
Of course, those of us that have been to the site know that they are in the same genre and are indeed CO and DCUO, but Hit Streak didn't compare or contrast either game with ours, or even the costume creators in the games.
He merely mentioned a site running a poll and suggested we go there vote for CoH: Freedom. -
Quote:That's not the proper solution (and likely not one the Devs had in mind as the intended solution), that's just A solution offered by one player.
Pulling is as effective as it always has been.
I've been able to pull one EB out of a two EB spawn using the Nemesis Staff since it was my longest ranged attack on my Controller and Dominator. Stay at the extreme edge of the Nem Staff's range and move away as soon as it fires.
Some claim that the Knockback will not allow you to use is for single pulls but that's rubbish. I've been single pulling with it since I got it on my Controller and Dominator. On my Blaster, Corruptor or Defender, I have a Snipe to pull with. On my Scrapper, I have Laser Beam Eyes from my APP or the Nem Staff. For a two EB Spawn I'd probably use the Nem Staff with the Scrapper due to the longer range.
SPOILERS for DA. Read at your own risk.
I've used the Nem Staff to single pull Romulus at the end of the Sister Solaris arc in DA. He spawns with the Keres (ParagonWiki claims she spawns as a Boss, but I thought I'd seen her spawn as an EB) and several Minotaurs and Cyclops Bosses in a tight clump. I've used it to single pull the Minotaurs and Cyclops when they spawn in clumps earlier in that mission. I've used it to single pull Reichsman during Max's arc in DA. He spawns with Requiem as an EB. -
Use Ctrl+Alt+Delete and select Task Manager.
I'd recommend setting the Launcher to not start with Windows and to close when the game launches instead and that way you won't have that problem.
You can follow the steps in Hyperstrike's stickied post here called Guide: How to make the new NCSoft Launcher as unobtrusive as possible.
Sleep mode has always been quirky. -
Quote:Yes, there is. You can use a bind or macro using the /costume_change # command. There is an alias for this so that you can set up the bind using /cc # instead. Remember, the costumes start numbering with 0 instead of 1. Obligatory ParagonWiki link.Is there a way to set up a costume change by just clicking a key?

Most processors made in the last few years (4?) have been 64-bit processors aside from those used in netbooks (Atom processor). Intel has been making 64-bit processors since 2004 (not including Itanium processors for servers).
-
Actually, a 32-bit OS can address up to 4 Gb of RAM, but that includes ALL RAM in the system including system RAM, graphics RAM, PCI Memory Range, ACPI and a few other bits and pieces.
For example, if you have a computer with a 32-bit OS, 4 Gb of system RAM and a video card with 512 Mb of video RAM you'll wind up with a usable portion of RAM that is a bit over 3 Gb.
If you take that same computer with a 32-bit OS, 4 Gb of system RAM and replace the video card with one of the newer cards that has a 2 Gb nVidia 670 video card, well, you have a bit under 2 Gb of usable RAM.
If instead you use a 64-bit OS, you don't run into that limitation until you get to something like 16 Eb (Exabytes) of addressable RAM.
So, to answer the OP's question, make sure you get a 64-bit version of Windows 7. The processor architecture (32-bit or 64-bit processor) has nothing to do with the OS version.
EDIT: Wiki link. An article on the 32-bit vs 64-bit memory limit. -
I took BAB with me when Texas Justice ran the arc. As a Blaster, I always look for a beefier companion that has more HP. And it was a bit of a sentimental choice. Plus, us old guys have to stick together.
I didn't have any problems with him wandering off away from me or aggroing any groups. He stayed right with me and stayed alive all the way through the Clamor fight. He took the Alpha's and I only took a few hits in the fight with Clamor. -
Quote:Just noticed this part today.I have 2 monitors actually. I did follow your instructions. It didn't run in widows mode though. Still the same off centeredness. I can enter my pw but I can't get past the TOS. I was at one time able to just hit Enter, Enter and get through, but it doesn't let me do that anymore.
Also, I was wondering if I needed more RAM. I will look into it.
Thanks, guys. If you have any more ideas, I'll take them.

Do you have Windows set to use Large Fonts? If so, it will make it so that you can't see or get to the Accept button on the EULA page. It may do it on Medium Fonts as well, but I know it does it on Large Fonts. It likely also does it if you set it to use a Custom Text Size in Windows 7 (possibly also available in Vista) if it is a large number close to or larger than Large Fonts (150%).
Set Windows back to use Normal Fonts (or Small Fonts) and it should resolve the problems. -
No. It shouldn't.
Forming a Super Group is a VIP only perk and is considered an incentive to subscribe.
Free and Premium players get quite a bit as it is for free. If they opened up everything that various people want opened up for free to all there would be no point in having a subscription.
This game will always be a subscription based game at the root with the addition of some a la carte purchasable items and a somewhat limited free to play aspect.
EDITED to clarify: My response is based on the current setup where creating an SG, setting up a base and paying base rent are tied to the SG Registrar. If they want to open up being able to see the Top 100 list or move it to something like the Information kiosks (doubtful since they don't seem to want to do anything else with them), I'd not have a problem with doing that. And as Cardiff_Giant also states, I read that as the SG Registrar, not the SG Registry when the OP said "had nothing to say as a free player". Since of course, you can only access the Registry through the Registrar I thought the OP mistyped it. -
There are two types of Story Arcs, Blue Book and Green Book.
The Blue Book arcs are major arcs and are denoted by having a blue outline around the book and a blue bookmark.
The Green Book arcs are minor arcs and are denoted by having a green outline around the book and a blue bookmark.
Prior to Issue 17 you could only have 2 active Blue Book arcs. When they raised the active mission limit from 3 to 7 in Issue 17 they also raised the number of active major arcs (Blue Book) from 2 to 5.
Contacts that start a major arc will not give missions if you are at the limit. Contacts that give minor arcs will still give missions as long as you don't have 7 missions already.
I believe the DA arcs are counting as major arcs although I'm not able to verify that right now. I'm basing that on how other DA contacts won't give missions and that it can be cleared up by doing the Personal Story Arcs. They are short informational missions that take little time and fill out some of the back story. It's better to get them out of the way completely so they don't cause the problem in the future.
Apparently Belladonna Vetrano's arc is counted as a major arc (blue book). Also, there is a Personal Story Mission at the end of Belladonna Vetrano's arc as well, so I'd recommend running it to keep it from clogging up the open books.
Remember, any open major arcs (blue book) you had on the other alignment will still count against you as well, even though you can't see them on the current alignment. -
I've not had any problems with my Gun Drone following me unless I move out of range of it too fast. Then I get the same behavior as escort pets that don't know where I am. As long as I move a bit slower initially it will stay with me on Oranbega maps, Talon Cave maps, 5th Column cave maps or anything else.
-
It had been Ghost Falcon that was doing it originally from what I remember, but Alpha Wolf was the one that was doing it when he posted about the time change.
-
It's always said abandon progress (since the launch of the game as far as I remember).
That was in the game before they added the ability to Abandon Mission. -
Quote:It wouldn't look the same in game to me.
Quote:I love names with I or L in them it gives you the opportunity to do so much with a name if it was taken. For example if Alarm has been taken I can just spell it with an upper case I so "AIarm". It looks the same in game which is awesome. If someone has taken that as well I just think up something else...my apologies if this was already brought up in this thread but I couldn't get pass page 4 without skipping to the end lol.
And it wouldn't give me any problems trying to invite him to a team.
If I teamed that is.
I'm not the only one using different fonts from the standard game fonts. -
A few questions to go along with that as well.
Did your character start as a Hero or a Villain? Has it changed alignment? If it changed alignment, did you have any "Open Books" on the previous alignment? If so, those still count against your current totals so you'd need to change alignments again to clear them up.
Are there any other Open Books on any of your Contacts? You don't have to have an active mission from them with an Open Book for it to count against you.
Since Belladonna's arc is a story arc, it would be trying to open a new book. If you are at your limit from other Open Books she won't be able to give you missions. You'll need to complete those books.
As StarGeek mentioned another thread I helped someone with, the Personal Story Missions seem to be counting as books still being open as well. Clearing those Personal Story Missions would likely get her to open her arc to you. -
Quote:I play on Justice, but I know absolutely nothing about what any SG's are doing. I know there used to be a few RP SG's several years ago, but I don't know what's going on now since I only solo now.Since this thread is getting attention. Are there RP supergroups on Justice at all? I see things with theme teams, but I'm not looking for something to make new characters. I just play the one character.
But, I did make a thread in the Justice section for you to keep an eye on. I asked if there were any RP SG's on Justice hoping any that are active might speak up and give you information on who to contact.
Good luck.
If you have access to global channels I'd suggest joining Justice For All and/or Justice United as these are the two most active global channels on Justice. -
No, this isn't for me.
There has been at least one non-VIP player asking if there are any RP SG's on Justice. And since non-VIP's can't post on the server forums, I thought I'd be nice and ask for them.
So ... any active RP SG's on Justice?
Now's your chance to let the non-VIP players know who you are so they can contact you. -
She was a World Designer when I first saw her name mentioned as a Dev.
I know she was listed in the Credits for the release of the game in the Design block with Jack Emmert, Al Rivera, Sean Fish, Michael Lewis, Matt Miller and others.
