Quote:Unless you paid for the pieces, you would still be required to do the task. So it must not simply be doing the task to earn the reward that makes the achievement meaningful. It follows that what makes it meaningful to you, therefore, isn't doing the task to get the reward, but doing the task to get the reward that other people who didn't do the task don't have.Yes, you are. You are suggesting removing the requirement that people do a specific task for a specific costume piece reward.
Right now the requirement makes the achievement meaningful. You wish to eliminate that. I understand why. You don't like doing what is required. I understand that. I don't necessarily like doing some tasks in the game myself. But I don't see it as a reasonable request to ask to be able to purchase my way out of everything I don't like. -
Quote:Christopher Reeves, Adam West, and even the loathesome Tobey Maguire all had better costumes than movie Doctor Doom, Green Goblin Ranger, and black leather X-men.They change costumes when making the movie version because spandex simply does not work for live-action. It looks cool in hand-drawn content because you can make the fabric and the underlying body structure match each other perfectly. But in real life, that. Is. Impossible.
There's a very tiny fraction of the human race that actually looks good in spandex, and most of them will never cross paths with a movie crew. Pretty much anyone who's not in that tiny fraction looks utterly ridiculous.
Not that I'm necessarily against moving away from spandex. The key in doing so well is maintaining the aesthetic of the character, rather than just ditching the aesthetic in favor of, say, horribly dull black leather motocross outfits. -
The animation/stance problem has consistently been a stumbling block, and given the prevalence of "free" flight powers already in the game which *do* allow you to attack, it is the more likely reason you can't attack while on the Rocketboard.

Quote:My reasons for not wanting to go would be that I don't like crowds, gratuitous noise, or socializing with groups of strangers in general. These are reasons that I can articulate, yet they may also be linked to genetic flaws. If they are genetic, would I want to fundamentally alter who I am? There are any number of physical alterations that I might accede to, but changing my mind is a different story. The shot doesn't force you to do anything. If you have logical, rational reasons for avoiding people (you are in the witness protection programme, you have a communicable disease, you have to be at work early the next day) those reasons are still in place, and you can act on them as per normal.
On the other hand, if your reasons are chemically/genetically derived, you will no longer feel the same way.
If someone invites you bar hopping, you won't "not want to go" by default. If you don't have a reason to stay home that you can't articulate (even something as simple as 'playing CoH is more fun than bar hopping'), you probably will want to go. -
I can buy a person in a basic, brightly coloured, spandex-ish outfit battling evil whether it be on a comic page, animation, or live action as long as it's done well. They can break the laws of physics if they want. They can use devices that can't possibly exist, and which are described as doing things that scientifically make no sense. I can accept any of that without batting an eye.
But drastically altering a character's aesthetic when translating it from page to screen? That's more likely to take me out of the story. -
Quote:It's all right unless/until "fun" starts getting sacrificed on the altar of "acceptable adult entertainment".Does anyone actually enjoy having our hobby seen as kids stuff?
The fact is most mediums are seen as a "Kids thing" or "Silly" at some point. Comic Books and Videogames are slowly joining Television and Films as acceptable adult entertainment and I'm pretty happy for it! -
Ah, well, the fact that such things weren't available from level 1 annoyed me for years. I'd say that it's about time I get to be happy with such things and you get to be annoyed. This shoe is uncomfortable, you wear it for awhile. I've kept it warm and fungus-y for you.

When I blast it's because I want the simplicity of flinging massive damage from range. No inherent defenses to worry about. No buffs to fling around. Just shoot until everything is dead.
Now, if only I could settle on a Beam Rifle concept I was happy with. -

I've not done the new arc yet, but I'm all for new costume pieces in general. I prefer purchases to individual character unlocks, but I would accept account-wide unlocks via one character's in-game activities as a happy medium.

I don't have any that I regularly go to recently, but movies that I have watched/rewatched for significant periods in the past include:
Howl's Moving Castle
Spirited Away
Highlander
Superman
The Lord of the Rings trilogy
The Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy
The Lion King (there was a time when I could recite every line and song from memory)
Star Wars 4-6
Conan the Barbarian
Krull
Big Trouble in Little China
Mortal Kombat -
I would totally buy the Roman pieces to have them from level 1. I would be happy with them as unlockables if they were account-wide unlocks, because then I would be able to use them from level 1, the level when characters are created, their concept realised through available costume pieces.

When I wake up, well you know I'm gonna wake
I'm gonna wake up here at home away from you
And on that weekend, well you know I'm gonna go
I'm gonna go to work 'cause that's what I've to do
'Cause I won't walk 1000 miles
And I won't walk 1000 more
Just to get some cheesy costume code
And dine on rum-soaked raisin s'mores

IMO, the effect for a poison blast set should be that for a certain amount of time the target will have a chance to stop for a moment and puke/shudder (as appropriate to enemy type). For some or all of the attacks, enemies suffering from this debilitating effect could have a melee AoE chance to spread the effect.

Quote:Why wouldn't it be called Samurai? The Japanese version is Samurai Sentai Shinkenger. I find the American version rather unwatchable, though. The fake Skull is particularly annoying. As we know, well...those of us that care about this sort of thing, Saban got the rights to Power Rangers, which is made using footage from the Super Sentai series. Currently, we are on the Shinkenger Series, which the American 'remake' calls Power Rangers Samurai....seriously? Samurai? ._. ANYWAY....

The various ninja headbands that used to be available in the Masks w/ Hair category are no longer available in a category with hair (for the standard male model, at least).

Yes, that's a common question. Which is why I'm not surprised that people would latch onto it despite the fact that it's only a minor statement in the original post, probably arrived at while dealing with the main issue stated in the thread title and first sentence which everyone else apparently overlooked. I'm not blaming them for overlooking the main issue, as that commonly happens when a common problem is brought up alongside another issue or issues.

Yeah, a couple of those new warehouse rooms are about as bad as Arachnos base maps were before they fixed them to run smoother.

Aren't there free-for-all PVP zones, where your "side" is whatever team you may happen to be on?
-
Pfft... "Turkey day"...
"Pie day" or "stuffing day" perhaps. Even the most awesome turkey is best left until the next day, when its flavour has been magnified by the magical leftover elves, and no one is there to judge you for the sandwiches you make of it. -
Quote:I believe you quoted the statement you're referring to previously and I already addressed it. If one reads the entire post, as you suggest, one of the very first things it declares is that the post is not absolute truth, but rather a 'statement of fun'. If, after that very clear declaration, you take what follows to be absolute truth, you have nothing but your own failure of comprehension to blame. If you read the entire post, you will see that the OP did indeed claim that it is a scrapper. One sentence claimed it to be a jumping off point for the imagination, but in another sentence actually wrote that the OP now has a pistols scrapper. See the quote at the end of the post.
I am about to fib: the Earth is a cube.
