And really though, why the hell are there so many troll, at least this guy is STILL trying to help me out and get his points across about how it works, and how to make the most. but SO MANY of you are just coming in, and dropping you 2 cents about the damn color of the text, and how you are not going to read it at all (not counting the people that tried to help, and then stopped because of the text)
    ITS TROLLING..... and annoying.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, "trolling" doesn't mean "saying something you don't like". It means something more like "Making inflamatory posts in order to provoke an angry reponse."

I assume that if you take the time to type out a post, you want people to read what you write. At the very least, the more people that read it, the more likely you are to get a response from someone who knows what you are asking about and is inclined to help.

But the thing is, if you deliberately do something that makes your post hard to read, be it using annoy colors, writing a wall'o'text, or using grammar so bad it ought to come with subtitles, you're making us either jump through a hoop to read what you've written, or else ignore you. Many of us have a limited amount of time to spend on the forums. I for one have a full time job. The amount of time I can devote to any one task is limited. I will read and answer questions as best I can, but I will not jump through any hoops to do so. As you could tell from the response to your use of colors, I am hardly alone in this matter.

I wasn't telling you that I refuse to deal with your use of color to upset you. I was telling you that so you could decide for yourself if the use of color was more important to you than reaching at least one of your targeted audience members, and probably many, many more.
  2. Sorry, OP, not reading your writings because your color choice makes it hard to read.
  3. Fulmens, if you are doing this prestige for influence thing on infinity I'm good for 60 million. Might have to wait till Friday to actual hook up though, with work and commute I have a twelve hour work commitment four days a week, and second shift at that.
  4. Were you really Laughing Out Loud as you typed that out? Sorry to derail, but I always wonder about people who use that expression. Are they really sitting there reading and typing and laughing? Or do they just want to give the impression that they are? I understand, of course, that you can't reasonably be called upon to answer for everyone that uses those letters, but I'd love to have one solid data point.

Anyways, back to the discussion. As I wrote, it sounds like he had a short fuse. And yes, if I just join a team I will usually wait at least five minutes before I ask what's going on to find out if anything will be going on any time soon. And if this guy plays the game for any length of time, he will also learn some patience or get good at soloing.

But my point still stands. If the team is standing around doing nothing longer than any particular player can stand, then that player is better off quiting and doing whatever else instead. Having different tolerances than other people doesn't mean the person is necessarily a nutcase. He could have been a young kid, a newb who is used to playing twitch games, or heck, just someone with no tolerance for standing around. Different strokes and all that.
  5. Sorry, Wendy, but I'm kinda with the tank on this one. Oh, I probably would have waited the five minutes, I know things don't always come together quickly. But if everyone is just standing around gabbing, and I don't know why we aren't doing anything or how long we won't be doing it, well, yeah, I'm going to get ansy. And if I'm not getting any replied about our ETA to getting in gear, well, I'm not going to waste a heck of a lot of time just hoping that someone wakes up or something.

The tank sounded like he was on a pretty short timer. But if standing around waiting for five minutes was making the game unenjoyable for him, he had every right to walk.

    Types of Players

Looks good. The only things I can think of offhand that you might add is the "Man Build" players. One that take very few powers from their primary and secondary, and try to gimp themselves by picking less than optimal pool powers. Closely related to the Challenging Build players who try to pick unpopular Primaries and Secondaries, hopefully ones with little or negative synergy.

My favorite one was the guy who politely (and with proper spelling), asked me to leave the team I was on to join his, because they needed a healer badly to finish their AV.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think I might have handled that the wrong way. ""k. OMW, give me a sec to exit." And then stayed on my group. Repeat everytime the guy asked if I were still coming. Then go look a few hours later to see if the exchange ended up on the "Rude Tells" thread in Player Questions.
  8. I balanced One Star guy as best I could. That's good for five smooches, yes?

Poor impulse control is a sad thing....

...but a great badge title, especially for a Kinetic.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Really? Cause I thought that badge was custom made for scrappers and brutes.

"Hey, slow down! We need to recover from that boss battle. Why are you rushing into the next room already?"

"Poor Impulse Control. It floats above my head and everything."
  10. Thanks, Catwhoorg! I've been in a very long plateau and have recent gained back a couple of the pounds, but I'm getting back on track. Small ups and downs are ok, but I'll never go back to my old lifestyle. New habits are hard to break.
  11. I've lost 65 pounds in the time that I started playing CoH. True story.

It's ok with me if the devs want to make a series of commericals that comment on that fact and turn me into the next Jared.
  12. Thanks for the input. I actually did /petition, and was using the wrong terminology. I have keep the beacons that were placed and then poofed from the buy item screen. Unfortunately that wasn't all of them... this is just a two person SG, and we've been saving for a long time to have the scratch to get the big teleporter room. And I think that tonight I finally made it. Just in time for my beacons to disapear!

    /sigh

Well, at least if it is a known issue, perhaps it will get fixed.
  13. Hey, all. My Sg base blueside had all the available teleport beacons, once upon a time. We are now missing the ability to purchase beacons for Peregrine Island (though this was one of our permanent teleports and we still have our old beacon in place), Talos Island (same situation), Atlas Park (same), Galaxy City, Crey's Folly, Perez Park, The Hollows, Boomstown, and perhaps Terra Volta, though I'm not sure if we had that one.

Villianside, we are missing Cap and Mercy.

    I've sent a bug report.

Anyone else have this problem? I'm nervous about losing the RWZ beacons, since that was the hardest one to get.
  14. If is the same person then I would guess that switching to just using SO's is starting to look like a good idea right about now.
  15. I strongly favor Lav's idea, if only because of the hillarious "I meant to donate a Doctored Wounds End/Heal and instead accidently unloaded my Miracle Unique that was insta-grabbed!" posts it would surely generate. Plus it should lead to more people complaining about the ebils for not filling it up with purples and pvp recipes.

Go and and submit it for consideration. And say when you do, I WILL go there and support the idea.
  16. It's a failed troll in the sense that there is wide skepitism about the claims that the character was deleted in the manner told. Not everyone is rushing off to defend the original toon or poster.

    Damn Market!!

Wait, does that mean you no longer think that there is a "friends and family" program at the consignment shops? Cause I was getting ready to try to be really good buddies with some of the movers and shakers of this forum.

I don't really care about making a killing in the market, I just want to have friends, and wanted to get with the program.
  18. I can sorta see both sides of the issue. I know that there are guys out there trying to pass themselves off as women, and usually in an obnoxious "I'm a girl with big chesties so give me stuff, hon" sort of way. And yeah, I can see why other guys would find that annoying. Heck, I find it annoying when I see someone whose being fairly obvious about doing it.

On the other hand, as a real honest to goodness genetic female, I truly understand how obnoxious the "Only guys play computer games so all you self-proclaimed "ladies" are really gender break freaks just trying to mess with everyone!" attitude is too. At nearly 45 years old, I've been playing computer games longer than most of the people who claim that "girls don't do that" have been alive. Telling me that I can't be a woman who plays online games seems very prejudicial to me. Try substituting the word "black" or "jew" for "woman" in a post with that sentiment and see what kind of storm gets raised.

So, while I see why the OP included it on his list, I also think he fully deserves being called out about also. I know that I for one would not have had a problem if he had said something along of lines of "Players with female toons who try to get special consideration because of their apparent gender". As I've said, that annoys me too.

    Damn Market!!

Odd, I've never heard of this "friends and family" program, and I do just fine on the market. Maybe if you wore a tinfoil hat like I do when I play it would help. Just a thought.
  20. I think that the kismet +6 accuracy and the kama and steadfast protection Knockback Protection IO's would be more valuable at lower levels since they would retain their usefulness even when someone is explared. But I don't know that it would be worth parking a character at 10 to keep the levels low on any of those that drop. I have thought about looking into it, though.
  21. Mr. Tealeaf got the oport on one of his characters around level six by tagging along with one of my older characters using the pillar of fire and ice from our SG. I think that a level one or two could probably get it, though not without dinging within the time of the mission.

You do awesome work Cat. I've wanted a pool A/bronze list for forever. I can't wait for it to be finished.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Agreed. The way you've color coded the yellows and oranges are especially awesome. Almost makes we want to take a stab at trying to format the silver and golds the same way, but I'm pretty sure I would just break them. Anyways, very, very good job!

    LFT

Freedom is one of the most populous servers. I'm on Infinity, which has about medium density, and I can usually find a team without problems, except maybe at around 2 am when I normally start to play. Finding a team on Freedom should be very doable.

How are you advertising you are LFT? Are you making sure you aren't hidden, and have your flag set to LFT? Have you joined any of the Freedom chat channels, where you might ask if something is going on that you can join? You might consider joining an active SG that teams often together. You can try going to whichever zone on Freedom has the most active AE (on Infinity that's Atlas Park) and advertise in broadcast or request that you are looking for a team there.

All of these should help, assuming of course that you haven't been so obnoxious in broadcast that everyone on the server has you on their ignore lists.
  24. I honestly think that its to Give Us Something To Look Forward To. Part of the appeal of any MMORGP, which always have a strong element of repetition, is the earning of rewards that the player can look forward to. When I hit 20 I can get a cape! When I hit 25 I can use the O-port! When I hit 51, I get my epic winged mount! Or whatever. If every Good Thing were available to every character at level 1, many would find the excitement of leveling to be diminished. Less feelings of excitement in the game for whatever reasons = more cancellations.

So you don't get your O-port until 25 because it would eventually bankrupt Paragon City.
  25. Wait wait wait! I'm a little boy? But but but... I have no.... Um, my parts aren't like boys I've seen so where did my....

    AAAAAUUUUGH!
