Sometimes I think this would be a good idea.
You know.... a Wentworth's trash bin might be a good idea.
I'd throw all those level 10 taunt IOs that you have to make for field crafter in there for some bag lady hero to dig out and use.
Also all those crap of the hunter recipes and all the Pool C end/rech junk that I seem to get so often.
Someone might get some use out of it, I wouldn't feel bad for deleting it, and it wouldn't be clogging one of my market slots or the SG enhancement bins.

I'm pretty sure that we will make a pattern on the ground using the trash.
M_K might be on to something there. How dos this sound:
2-5 Zones on each side get a Thrift Store (Hero)/Pawn Shop (Villain). Players can donate/pawn unwanted items there. If the person is a member of a SG, they receive a small amount of prestige - Perhaps 1/2/5 for common/uncommon/rare salvage and small/medium/large inspirations and the same number x level for common/uncommon/rare recipes and enhancements (treat IO/DO/SO all as common). Perhaps a x10 multiplier for purples. Then, anyone can purchase anything that's been donated for a fixed price - I'd suggest double what a vendor would offer, though prices would need to be added for some items.
This would require a new server, or at least be a new task for the existing market server, but it would be less resource intensive, as it would just need a "number available" for each item, instead of managing market slots for every character in the game.
This would provide a more favorable prestige exchange rate than currently available if someone were to buy and resell the same item, but maybe that's a good thing.
Whaddaya think? Should I maybe polish this up and take it to S&I to be mocked?
@Roderick
I strongly favor Lav's idea, if only because of the hillarious "I meant to donate a Doctored Wounds End/Heal and instead accidently unloaded my Miracle Unique that was insta-grabbed!" posts it would surely generate. Plus it should lead to more people complaining about the ebils for not filling it up with purples and pvp recipes.
Go and and submit it for consideration. And say when you do, I WILL go there and support the idea.
I'm Tealeaf, and I approve of this message.

I like the "pattern on the ground" idea. Especially since you can add to one letter to make another. World's most labor-intensive graffiti.

@Boltcutter in game.
This reminds me of a troublesome player on a MUD I played in college...went by the name 'Esprit'. Specialized in griefing, PKing, etc. One of his tricks was to get a bunch of gold, then he would go around typing "drop gold" or whatever the command was. But he would just drop one, many, MANY times. Eventually the sheer number of items would crash the MUD (stack overflow is my guess).
Suggestions:
Super Packs Done Right
Influence Sink: IO Level Mod/Recrafting
Random Merit Rolls: Scale cost by Toon Level

RA used to do this regularly in Eve Online. They'd get a huge fleet together ready to assault a system and then crash the node by jettisoning cans full of bookmarks (negligible item size in cubic-meters, significant size in data!) They'd execute the attack when the servers were limping along and the defenders couldn't even get into the system. It was really obnoxious.
On another note, a donation type place where people could bypass the market? *shudder* As an aspiring ebil marketeer, I hereby BLOCK THIS IDEA! It's been blocked, sorry. It's done. Next idea?

When you take a random roll and get a piece of garbage, instead of deleting it or putting it on the Market for 5 inf, you can have the ability to throw it on the ground, like the trash it is. Someone might pick it up or maybe it rots away after a time. But then I guess the litter in Paragon would increase..
