  1. Silas, your guides are, and forgive me for using the word because I know it's overused, epic. I laughed reading each one, and I've planned out builds for 3 new characters from these with more sure to come.
  2. Although it's not the first thing that might come to mind when one thinks 'melee', a Rad/Fire blaster is absolutely crazy in AoE attacks, a lot of which are PBAoE, meaning you would be in melee a lot of the time.

If you're teamed with a buffer with +Def powers, you're golden.
  3. I always set mine to the "Looking for Any" flag when I log on.
  4. I decided to go for a change of pace and try out Tankers again. Up until now, I've never gotten one past level 6, but now I've got a level 8 Elec/Elec Tanker, and I'm having fun.

Before I get too much farther in, though, I'd like to know what direction I'm taking my Tank, so I have few questions regarding some powers.

    1) How neccesary is Power Sink? Do you think an Elec/Elec Tank with Stamina would have Endurance problems? It seems like Elec Melee sort of mitigrates some of the endurance loss, but I'm not sure if it would be enough given I have 4 toggles (plus 2 from the fighting pool later down the line).

    2) How useful is Lightning Clap for a Tank? It seems like it would help keep aggro given it's a PBAoE attack, but I'm not really sure.

    3) Build Up. I'm used to playing Scrappers, and I know BU is great there, but given I want to build my Tank mostly for teams, could I drop it?

    That's about it. Thanks.

I think that's ironic given the only that sounds like it would kill you is a bunch of AVs.
  6. I don't hide because I rarely experience any of the horror stories told on these boards. In fact, I Pug almost exclusivley as I've got no set SG and they're almost always good teams. Also, I usually take a few seconds when I log on to change my status to "Looking for Any" in case anyone actually uses that.
  7. I feel like nobody should hesitate to post their builds because there is no good reason not to (exception: PvP). It also makes me sad to see how many people in this thread are uptight about holding onto their build, or worse, advising 'half-way' builds, expecting someone who could potentially be new, to figure it out on their own.

Some people don't like to number crunch. If you have a really powerful build, why not share it? What's there to do with it that would make one so upset? If someone soloed an AV, GM, or TF or something, does it really matter? It's not like it hasn't been done before. So if someone questions what your build is, and you feel like helping someone out, why not share it?

Edit: And after reading more of this thread, I think Stratos worded it best; this is a game, and I really don't think anything here is worthy of being defensive over.
  8. Did. . . did you j-just say new redside zones? :O
  9. I'm no market expert, but it seems like one could make some money by buying up some S.A.'s while they're cheap blue side, then when GR hits, sell them for higher.

I'm just not sure if it's a good idea though. I'm afraid everyone and their grandma is doing this, so come GR, the market will be flooded with Soulbound Allegiances and the prices will plummet.

    Any thoughts marketeers?
  10. Very nice mockup. I guess it would be kind of cool to see a small cafe one can enter somewhere in Atlas Park.
  11. Given we have reformed Nictus running around (and other heroes that look outright demonic/evil) it's not really thaaat big of a change from the norm.

    Noble Savage

I wonder if the return of the Cathedral of Pain (and thus more Rularuu involvement in the story) has something to do with Nobel Savage. I know that these guys

are called Honored Brutes. Nobel/Honored. Brute/Savage. See what I'm getting at here?
  13. I have to agree with those that feel like too many of the smaller servers are too empty. I know I moved my two mains from Liberty, a moderatley populated server, because even then I felt like there wasn't enough going on. Sure, I could use LB or other global channels for Liberty to find teams, but honestly, I feel like one shouldn't have to entirley rely on global channels to find a team.

I probably would have left CoH if I hadn't moved my characters to Freedom. Despite its reputation and getting the nickname 'Freedumb' I still find it heaps more enjoyable than struggling to get a TF going on Liberty.

That's still an incredibly dumb reason. You can pretty much recreate Sister Psyche in game. Those fur shoulder pads are a really cool costume piece.

    This, a thousand times, this.
  16. I. . .didn't think of that. That actually helps a lot since I was torn about dropping the stealth IO in CJ.
  17. Ok, first of all, thanks a lot to both of you for the huge amount of advice. I'll start off by saying I was pretty surprised by the amount of defense Umbral was able to squeeze into that build, but at the same time, I feel like I just couldn't live with those power choices. I have a massive dislike of the Fighting pool (because I would have to take a power I'd find no use for) and additionally it would cause me to have to drop Fitness, which, while overkill on a */Regen build, is something I love. (In my book, you can never have too much regen and recovery.)

Now, that said, I did pick out bits and pieces of advice, and I went through and made some sweeping changes on my planned build. I got more recharge in, and built up the defense bonuses. I made sure I kept my 5 +5% recharges as well as getting in another 6.25% from slotting Decimation in Focus. I also swapped out Assault for Maneuvers and slotted it with a LotG 7.5%. I also moved some slots around from PP to Focused Accuracy and slotted it with Gaussian's like recommended, and I put those Performance Shifter +End procs to good use. Finally, I came out with almost as good melee defense (25.9%) and some not-too-shabby numbers for the other defenses as well. True, those numbers could be better with Weave, but I enjoy my 4.2 end/sec recovery rate.

  18. I've tried to revise my build, but before I go ahead and commit to building this build, I was wondering if I could get some criticism from anyone who's more experienced with IOs.

EDIT: I revised this build. Check the 4th post in this thread for the new one.
