I started a brute km/inv into the teens, then started a scrapper km/ele. I loved the scrapper way more out the gate, hit 50, and now playing all my favorite tf's with it. So my recommendation goes to...

Seems I am in the minority here, but I will say it anyways. /regen is fine as is, in my opinion. The only thing that may give you trouble is a large alpha strike, soloing a large mob, or an hard hitting AV. In PVE it handles most missions like a walk in the park. I don't think the game was intended to be balanced soloing that kind of aggro for a scrapper. In PVP they are insanely hard to kill 1v1, unless you happen to be on a /cold or something to steal the regen and recharge. Making them more powerful would be a serious unbalancing. The only weaknesses of a /regen is the lack of resistance and regen resist. If you took either of those away would not be a good balance as a whole.

I think the current sounds(noises) are probably appropriate, however they grate my nerves so bad that I have to turn the sound off to play my sonic toons, or to team with someone that is staying in close. Just don't ask me to find that hidden glowie if I am on my sonic because I won't hear it.
I always felt it a trivial thing, but I honestly do not play my sonic anymore primarily because the noise it makes drives me insane and turning off the sound is less enjoyable play. -
Sounds like you need to download Mids Hero Designer (google it). It's free and you can play around with slotting. You can see the numbers to insure you are getting the performance you desire and not over doing it.

I don't think it should be the swear words that get you in trouble but how you use them. In a joking context, you can be obviously joking and no harm intended while asking "what the **** are you doing jughead". On the flip side, you can skip the swear words and call someone an idiot to the point of verbal abuse without a single swear word.

Vent is definately more friendly to your need. I have a vent server and it adds so much more fun to the game.
Just beware about having randoms join. More people is more fun, but even one rotten apple to spoil the batch. -
Surpressed IO bonus in PVP would not be good. But a dedicated supressed zone??? Sounds like a better idea, but you would probably find yourself shadow boxing and listening to crickets.

Anyone know when cutscenes were introduced?
Anyone know if they ever play to make them skipable? -
I was once took SS + SJ on a build and maxed out the speeds. OMG what a feeling. I got addicted and feel slow on my fly toons or even my toons with just SS or SJ and not the combo.
Fly is not fun for me indoors and in caves, but that is just me. I like to zip agound with SS indoors, running around like a crazed lunatic.
That said, everyone should do what is fun and makes since for the build. There is not right or wrong with travels powers. Some work better in certain conditions, but hey that is what makes it fun. -
Just when you think the thread slows down..BAM! It gets right back good again.
A lot of people agree with the end game play for people to play their 50s as 50s. In the GR closed beta Positron posted directly stating that most of his attention now is totally on end game content.
They hear us and are working on it. We will just have to hang tight and see what happens. -

My thoughts are to re-confirm your villian/hero status for 1 merit each time. This takes two days (5 tips per day + morality). Spend 2 merits for a Miricle+, LOTG 7.5, Numina+, etc. and sell. Rinse and repeat. This is not an instant purple every day of course, but the system is not meant to be fast..hence the word rare.
I have casual player friends. They play maybe one day a week for 3 hours. They love the game and get very discouraged that they can not properly pimp out a toon. Even buying a Mako set is out of reach at times for them. No easy answers for this type of scenerio though. Maybe that is why gagora and such stay in business??? -
Freedom is already in the RED since GR came out during weekends and peak times. What will be done for the free activation period with lots more people on Freedom?

I am so used to seeing them, that I don't even notice them anymore. Wierd man, just weird.

Wow, you really have to wade through the personal likes and dislikes in these kinds of threads. Most importantly I would say it is...How You Play. Your playstyle will ultimately define what your are best with and find fun.
That said, for pure solo, I recommend fire/storm. Main reason is hurricane is very effective at keeping the enemy away and keeping you safe. If you throw in aid self, like I have on mine, I find it very durable. I do find my fire/dark more fun on teams and more suited to my play style. I just find the /storm a lot easier at the low levels.
Hope this helps. -
Seems like there was a thread not too long ago that actually had numbers from one of the number crunchers. I seem to recall that Fire Melee won out.... or was that a brute?
My search foo is weak. I am sure the answer you seek is out there for a master in this art to locate. -
Drop rates, my favorite subject. It is one of the most talked about and yet one of the least understood as a whole.
The devs know that there is desparity here between the casual player vs. the hardcore player vs. the farmers. To date there has been no way to balance these three since the playtime (or number of kills) can vary widely. You do not want the drops to be too little for the casual player, but not too much that the farmers can get them too easily and saturate the game with rares...making them not rare esentially.
The Hero/Villian merit system was to combat this desparity. It does not change the drop rate, but does offer an avenue of access.
I would not expect the drop rate to be changed. -
Interesting thought about duel SS sets. I think this can apply possibly to some of the others as well. One thing that comes to mind is knockback sets such as energy assult on my dom. I would much rather use knockdown or knockup vs. knockback. I hate chasing a target to get off my melee attack.
More player choices for minimal work could definately be a win. I think the only hard part is know what to make different and how to balance that difference. -
If it was not for power pools, wouldn't every single ss/wp brute have the same powers and therefore be the same in most regards(except slotting)? These extra selections let you vary your toons for another of the same type. I look at power pools as another way to further make your character unique and adaptable to your play style.

I think the Freakshow was in need of a little more difficulty. The end drain appars to be a little stronger as well (unless that is my imagination running wild again). Nice change in my book.

You can almost tell who is primarily a blue side player and who is primarily a redside player on these kinds of post.
As stated above, early on with power selection is the big difference. Do you want to level up offense or defense first.
Other than that, you will probably not even tell the difference in a typical paper/radio mission. -
I do not even notice that change on my ss/wp brute.
Brutes still rock and put out the damage. -
Well, not invisible to you. The enemy will not find you more visable, if that is your question.
-
I find that TP is a great second travel power, but as a main, I just end up feeling like it is tedious and and tired after crossing a map. I even start looking for a Redbull to get some wings.

Actually that is a very good question. How hard would it be to change out the enemy to a level 50 counterpart (maybe not a direct counterpart, but anything simular would be fine). It would essentially add end game content for possibly very little work. Do you know how easy it is to change out an enemy type in AE...very. Would it be the same for TF/SF's?
It could be an option with a the stipulation that no badges can be awared for playing it on the level 50 option.
I agree this is not likely to happen, but it is a good thought for those that want more for their 50s that they love and worked to hard to acquire all those powers.
