YAY! A 'fix' issue.
-
Quote:That's where I'm putting it. My Energy/Energy blaster duos with a tank and the general rule of thumb is if I knock it away from him I chase it down and kill it. I hover overhead to reduce knockback to knockdown already. This enhancement is going to be helpful for those times I just can't get a good angle for that.My Energy/Energy blaster loves you Devs for making that proc.
I was able to team now with not a single word said about knockback. I put mine in Torrent and since most of them are now on the ground with my opening salvo the other knockback powers have little effect!
Best proc ever.
PS: My little blaster has tanked the (old) Positron TF using Energy Torrent because the tank and 2 scrappers on the team were too chicken to do it without a 'healer'. KB can be a very useful and impressive tool used right. -
I know they can be mailed. I haven't tried storing them in the base yet. I plan on saving everything I get and trying to trade for full sets after the event is over, once I see what I need.
I haven't iconed for it yet, but I plan to. -
Hooray! I have electricity again!
-
Quote:If only. *sigh*So you'll be back to your 9-5 job of protection the city I suppose?
Friday's storm knocked out electricity to much of my area. It could be a week until we get it back. I'm currently at a friend's house posting this.
Keep Paragon City safe, fellow heroes! -
Thanks to the help provided by friends and Support I think the problem has been ironed out. I hope to be back to playing

Quote:Congratulations and well done!Grats all heres hoping we can find others to assist us once we start running these. probably won't be till after Steele gets her rig up and running. Grats to you all for The RHW badge.

I hope to be back soon. Still working on the problems. -

I'll be getting a new video card and larger case to accommodate it and my brother will be building it when I visit 10-17 July. Any suggestions? My budget for case and video card is $500. Existing hardware is:
Windows 7 Home Premium
Intel (R) Core (TM) 2 CPU 6300 @1.86 GHz
6 GB Ram
64-bit OS
NVIDIA Geoforce GT 240
Motherboard ??? (I don't where to find this)
Antivirus Software:
AVG
Microsoft Security Essentials -
I spoke with my husband about it, then with my brother who built this computer. I'll be getting a new video card and larger case to accomodate it. Now it's just deciding which will fit the budget ($500 total for any parts and case) and work with my existing hardware.
-
Yes, I had this problem on the Apex trial consistently - hence I won't run it. I also use an NVIDIA Geoforce, but mine is the GT 240. The only warning of those death patches if you have this problem is a very subtle sound. If there's ongoing combat you won't hear it. All the other itrials I usually can see something. My brother and husband have the same video card and report the same issue.
-
Thank you, everyone, for the suggestions and I will try them. I'll run the app and submit a petition asking for help. Before the new OS I was running on minimum settings. I can try that again. I'll also take my comp to my brother in July when I visit for a thorough cleaning and for him to test it.
A new computer is out of the question for now, there have just been too many unexpected, large expenditures in the last year (think: hurricane damage last summer, storm damage this winter) and I won't dip into our emergency buffer for luxuries. I might be able to do in the future. A new video card if this one is dying would be more affordable and is something I could discuss with my husband. -
Note: What on earth is Babylon doing there? I deleted that after the dxdiag download I tried earlier automatically attached it even after I declined. It also automatically attached Google Toolbar after I declined it, but that seems to have come off when I removed it.

Hyperstrike,
Thanks for the tips!
I upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7 when I did the reformat and clean installed everything. I use a memory optimizer called Advanced System Optimizer (made by the same folks that made AVG). I am also now running AVG instead of Verizon Security Suite which uses McAffee.

Some of you know I've been having serious technical issues playing the game. For those interested, here's my thread in the appropriate thread:
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=291700
Until I can find a solution you won't be seeing much of me. I sincerely regret that.

For the last few months my game has been crashing to no video input. It has required a cold reboot of the computer. The latest video drivers didn't fix it, in fact it got worse and it seems to have gotten even worse after that. No other application is affected, not even other MMOs.
I have tried the following:
Made sure all of my device drivers were current
Upgraded OS
More RAM
Defragged
Optimized Memory
Cleaned the registry
Reformatted harddrive and clean installed everything
Changed Antivirus software
Removed extraneous programs (including Pando Media Booster from another MMO)
Shut down anything nonessential in task manager
I'd run a dxdiag except I can't find any that are truly 'free', the free ones come with adware and malware.
Can anyone confirm that there's a problem with NVIDIA drivers and COH? If so is there any hope? I've been playing for nearly 8 years and don't want to give up on COH. -
Well said Noyjitat and Ukase. Your league, your rules. The end."
I have never had a problem with requiring level shifts and understand the need for participation and contribution. I have been guilty of bringing a +2 defender to a UGT or a +0 to a BAF or LAM when it was my highest shift character on the server and with the league leader's permission. I don't try to sneak in like some people. I've seen the consequences when people lie about their incarnate abilities and level shift and it isn't pretty.
As far as the MSR goes I'm all for the 5 minute rule. When people show up late it can lead to outright cancellation of the raid and we've seen that happen. It's selfish, rude, inconsiderate, and in general ticks me off almost as much as raid leeches (who go straight to /ignore so I never invite them again). -

You can redownload the launcher without having to redownload the entire game here:
http://us.ncsoft.com/en/launcher/ncsoft-launcher.html
I hope that works for you. -
Quote:I thought I had seen something recently saying that you could bypass using PMB by opting out or something.
I'll have to search for it.
EDIT: Found it.Quote:Originally Posted by Neo Shadowdream

Beginning at 12 p.m. PDT (2 p.m. CDT / 3 p.m. EDT), the NC Launcher will not prompt players to install Pando Media Booster in order to download Aion: AscensionĀ. Players can now install and update the game directly through the NC Launcher. If you haven't tried Aion: Ascension, now's the perfect time to play--Truly FreeĀ!
If only this were true. It does prompt you, however you can right click on the game name on the launcher, choose properties, and unclick Pando Media Booster.
It defaults to using it and does install it, you need to refuse it and uninstall if you already have it. I did that and can now play both Aion and COH. -
If you play Aion - There was a patch today for that game as well. I don't know if Guild Wars or Lineage requires PMB. Aion requires PMB to update files and that may be causing you the same problem I'm having.
I'm not going to give up my COH, so I uninstalled PMB and Aion can go fish.
I was able to uninstall Pando Media Booster by first restarting my machine so that PMB wasn't running invisibly in the background (even shutting down the launcher and ending the PMB program won't shut it down). Then I uninstalled PMB.
I can use the launcher to get into COH, but unless I reinstall PMB I will not get into Aion. I'll worry about that later. Judging by the furor on the Aion forums I'm not the only one having the problem. I hope COH never goes the PMB route... that way lies madness and might be the one thing that makes me leave. -
Quote:I'm having the same issue. I don't know your setup, but I also play Aion which requires Pando Media Booster. PMB is not shutting down, and even shutting it down through the Task Manager it is running invisibly in the background, not allowing the launcher to actually work.Since the update yesterday, I've been having trouble getting into the game. During most attempts to load, the launcher starts and everything loads up to the log in screen, when the game stops responding (occasionally, it happens before getting to the log in screen).
For whatever reason, it's dead to the world so I shut it down and try again. Only this time, the launcher then fails to launch the game, instead stuck saying 'launching City of Heroes'. It doesn't launch the game and the launcher then can't be shut down through either clicking the X or trying to end the process. I'm getting this issue with both the Live client and the Beta client and it's only rarely letting me on.
Any suggestions?
I've tried reinstalling the launcher - same problem.
I've tried removing the PMB program - but it won't uninstall!!!!
I had a similar issue with SWTOR. I let my sub lapse because they never did fix it and I had little invested in the game and uninstalled PMB (which also significantly shows your machine). Unfortunately when Aion whent FTP a couple months ago it required PMB. Something about today's patch for COH or Aion, I'm not sure which, is the problem I think.
SWTOR lost a lot of players over blaming the players' machines instead of their launcher/PMB. I spent days trying to fix it according to their instructions and just unistalled the game, despite being a founder (which I never got to claim because I couldn't get in the game again).
I really hope there's a fix for this. I've been playing COH for 8 years and don't want to quit. I'm not a patient person. If I can't play either of my games I may go stark staring mad and gnaw on my keyboard in frustration. -
Quote:While I much preferred #1 I was far more concerned about the forum sizing. Whatever had to be done that was crucial for me and I greatly appreciate that you took sizing concerns from people like me into account. Even with the sizing as it is and a 22" monitor I have to enlarge to 150% to be able to read the forums. Text size is a serious issue for those with impaired vision. Thanks for apologizing, but in case my post was misunderstood (not that I think you're only responding to me) I want to be clear: I fully support the margin changes, and thank you for making them. Poll results aside, they are more important to me than the art, and I'm grateful that you took that feedback on the margins into account.
However, in case it wasn't clear, what I was trying to say is that I don't understand is how it became a choice between the winner of the poll with margins that were too large for a forum, and the loser of the poll with smaller margins.
If it came down to you, personally, feeling that the margin change invalidated the poll results due to the nature of the art, I disagree, but that's all I'm going to do about it if you absolutely can't devote the resources to modifying #1 like you did #2. I honestly didn't care that much either way about the art itself until people voted overwhelmingly for one and got the other.
Thanks for your time.
Thank you.
