The Pet Defense and Pet Resistance IO's grant YOU a PBAoE Always-On Aura that gives all of your pets the bonus (if they are within range of you, it's got an area of effect about the same as your Supremecy Inherent Aura).
So, Yes, it will affect all of your pets. It only affects your own pets though.
As for the random rolls, there are lists of what's in each roll table over on paragonwiki. -
I'm still trying to figure out what could be so important in the GWE set that a Tank needs/wants to warp a build around it.
Set bonuses aren't especially fantastic or anything:
+5% Run Speed
+1.88% Hit Points
+2.25 Endurance
+2.5% Hold Time Bonus
+3.13% Psionic Resistance
Other than the 6 slot bonus the rest are easily gained elsewhere and/or are rather 'Meh'.
And as far as the base goes, you'll be fine. When you switch sides, you aren't actually removed from the SG, just placed on permanent "hold status". The SG will stay there (inaccessable) until you actually quit the SG (then it goes away) or come back to the proper side of things (and you'll be reinstated into the SG). -
Fulmens,
You don't get the full 50 merits upon changing alignments. I actually don't think you get any merits, just the new alignment and the 7 day countdown timer, but I could be wrong and there's some small merit reward too, but it's DEFINATELY not the full 50.
I just finished taking a Hero over to Villain last night. When I left Paragon and travelled over to the Isles, he had around 48 merits. Now (after the final conversion to Villain) he has more than that. (it's somewhere in the 80's). He did go around and picked up all the explore badges and the +5 merits from each of the red-side zones, so that's +35 merits there and he definately hasn't gained +85 merits.
As far as I understand it:
Morality Mission for Actual Alignment Change (H to Vig, Vig to V, V to R, R to H):
--gets you the new alignment
--gets you the 7 day countdown timer to your new alignment power
1st Morality Mission where you keep whatever alignment you are at:
--gets you the big normal merit bonus
--gets you the 7 day countdown timer if you don't already have one
2nd + Morality Mission where you keep whatever alignment you are at:
-- Hero/Villain gets you 1 alignment merit
-- Vig/Rogue gets you the smaller merit bonus -
Hmm, well I have to differ a bit from most opinions on it. I was kind of "Meh" about it.
I think part of the problem is that I was kind of expecting a show that was going to attempt to avoid the "it's just another Heroes" moniker.
Instead it appears that the show is going to actually embrace that role.
I was a bit disappointed in the pacing. Everything felt a bit too rushed, trying to set up every plot-line in the first episode. And I felt that they should have actually avoided showing that there are other "Metas" out there for a couple of episodes.
Focus the first couple of episodes on each major character and how they deal with thier new powers, along with how the family as a whole copes with it....then start introducing super-villains and the big, bad, conspiracy/agency/government group/etc that's causing folks to have superpowers (or whatever methodology they end up going with).
Personally, I'm not buying the glowing water bit since they revealed that her boss is tied up in it. I mean, how many folks are you going to ferry out to South America and have go swimming? (of course they could always go with the 'the water was polluted from runoff being generated by the secret laboratory' or something)
Overall, I enjoyed the show, even if it went in a direction I was kind of hoping that it wouldn't be going in. I'll be giving it a few more episodes before I make my final conclusion.
(as opposed to "The Event" which we turned off after about 15 minutes, and from what I hear about episode 2 I'm quite glad we did) -
It's just my opinion of course, but it seems to me that "Chuck" may have run it's course.
Unlike previous seasons, the first two episodes of this season just aren't holding my interest.
I mean, come on, a cameo appearance by Olivia Munn (that was Olivia Munn wasn't it?)?
A rebuilt (and *purposely* over the top) Buy More?
Chuck's back to lying about being a spy to Ellie...geez guy, grow a pair already.
(and why in the world would she believe him? Hey, I'm disappearing for days at a time, and so is my spy girlfriend, but no I'm not a spy anymore, trust me).
Anyway, I'll keep watching (heck I suffered through the later seasons of Heroes too), but overall I'd be surprised if Chuck lasts much longer unless things really pick up soon. (I'm kind of expecting the whole "shuffle it's timeslot until it quietly dies" to start soon). -
-
And Incendiary Missiles wasn't nerfed. Well, actually it was, but Castle has already stated that it was an unintended side-effect of the Burn patch changes and that he'll be fixing it.
The trip mine change, I feel for ya. It makes more sense to have TM take PBAoE instead of Targetted (Ranged) AoE, but it does hurt a bit. -
Why do you think we've got a signed NDA and a super-long I20 beta?
This is why !!!!
(oh come on, somebody had to throw it out there for the rumor mill)

Honestly, I don't think we'll really be seeing "The Coming Storm" any time soon.
To me it has always read as more of the super-plot-macguffin device.
Apocalyptic in proportion (from the clues we've gotten), it would be really difficult to do
the hype it's gotten justice at this point with just a "normal" issue release.
Although I do like this theory/speculation:
Quote:
NOTE: Stolen from Chase_Arcanum in one of his posts
Whoever sets things in motion (a nemesis plot?) he may be inspired by Recluse's Victory and/or Project Destiny. In those, Recluse isn't satisfied with knowing that he wins on some other dimension, he want to bind that dimension to this one, bringing his victory here... colliding those dimensions and all their occupants together.
The difference here, though, is this is a "storm" of dimensions colliding into themselves... coalescing with primal earth. It will set off wars and struggles of epic proportion as reality itself twists and cracks to make room for conflicting histories and the myriad possibilities whittling down to one true reality. Some of our doppleganger encounters are from the earliest incidences... the worlds closet to our own starting to merge over... we're not "merged" with them due to our experineces in sidestepping outside the timestream / dimension hopping. Things will only grow more dangerous as the storm proceeds. Incarnates... spread across all these issues... will deal with these cosmic metaspace collisions. We're talking Issues 20, 21, 22+
After the multiverse crashes, one world will emerge. Mender Silos is trying to set things in motion to guarantee his desired outcome. Our mystery letter-writer (Tyrant?) has his own objectives. Their goal is to influence what this world will be- perhaps to be the gods that make the next world, whether benevolent or in malice. We fight for or against these parties to save what we hold dear or grasp at the power we want for ourselves... battling to the very last moment of existence... when all goes white.
At that point, a new city will emerge. Its past and present will be crafted from the remnants of the once-divided universes, and people will remember it as if it had always been that way... because it has. Parts will resemble Praetoria, Paragon, and even the Rogue Isles (all ultramoded) and its inhabitants will be us... and not. This begins CoH's equivalent of DC's "One Year Later" and Marvel's "Heroes Reborn"-- a reimagining of our world and the heroes within it. A universe that's not quite like the one we see as afterimages as we dream of battles that we don't really remember participating in.
It'll be a new city... and world... that's in desperate need of heroes, again. The City of Heroes will be over. Welcome to City of Heroes 2.0. -
Hmm, makes me wonder how old my original character should "really" be.
I'm coming up on 72 months soon.
He was created on my first day in the game.
A day in-game passes in what? about an hour real-time?
Assuming 1 hour real-time = 1 day game-time.
Averaging to 30 days per month x 72 months.
Multiplied by 24 hours per day = 51840 hours real-time
Divided by 365 = 142 in-game years have passed since he was created.
Hmm, he doesn't feel that old -
Quote:What's the statement? Pics or it didn't happen . . .When you've had to cut a friend out of a liquid latex outfit in a club bathroom with EMT scissors, being VERY careful not to nick anything or pull out a piercing, you realise that there needs to be a balance between sheer fabulousness and practicality.
Well, just a little bit.
PS: Oddly not as bad as the piercing/chainmail leotard/chinese ring trick interface incident. -
It would be nice if there was a way to get that badge without the need for a full-on Ship Raid.
I don't particularly like that raid, and about the only reason I ever try to get involved in one is to get that badge.
The huge Vanguard Merit rewards are/should be plenty of incentive to do the raid and locking an exploration badge into the raid was just a bad idea, imo.
After all, it's supposed to be an Exploration badge, not an Accomplishment badge.
Even back in the days of "find the exact location, hover over the Hamidon and drop into it (dying in the process, but picking up the explore badge)", it was at least *possible* to get all the explore badges in the game without needing a huge quantity of other players at once. -
Yep, too bad that application ISN'T clothing....
A looser weave than grandma's oversized knit stocking caps.
Unattached fibers hanging all over the place.
Lumpy/Furry and doesn't even actually cover most places (easily see through).
Obviously quite fragile from how delicately he was holding it.
Built up in layers rather than an actual solid piece of fabric.
I can think of a few things it might be used for with some refinement,
but actual spray-on clothing isn't one of them.
Edit: And I love the final "let's spray paint on a few green swirly patterns...there NOW it's clothing !!!" -
I don't remember them all off of the top of my head.
But, the Day Job "Explainer" NPC in Nova (standing around the big central zone near Maruader and Dominitrix) gives you the full list of which ones are available. -
Quote:*The "vanishing contact" technology being expanded to the larger environment, so if a mission ends with the building supposedly being destroyed, you actually see it as being in ruins or on fire but no one else does.
You know, I hadn't thought of this one before.
But that would be one way to actually implement a type of "destructible environment" into the overworld map in an acceptable fashion.
Hmm.... -
While speculations and ideas are fun to discuss, they can also be dangerous.
Even knowing that everything here is just pure speculations being pulled out of thin air, discussion about such game sweeping changes like DR in PvE and it's implications are enough to trigger a "Hmm, I wonder if I really want to leave my multiple subscriptions on an annual payment level; or should I maybe think about switching down to a month-by-month?"
Frankly, the ONLY thing that would ever drive me away from this game is a fundamental shift in focus that makes the 1-50 journey an obstacle to overcome (to get to the "real" game, like so many other end-game based MMOs) rather than the primary purpose of the game as it is now.
Things like "well, it'll be a major nerf to everything but you'll be able to use the Incarnate stuff to make up for it" worry me. I don't think the Devs are that blind to what a major shift (and major turn-off for a lot of players) that would be, but . . .
As for my speculations, I'm leaning more towards a major revamp of all the zones and/or some of the more painful game engine rewrite required changes. -
Quote:There's really no such thing as a "ancillary hero side pool".So I have a question:
If I have a villain who is level 41 and I don't want any of the patron power pool choices but I do want an ancillary hero side pool, then I have to spend 4 days changing alignment to hero so I can then take that ancillary pool selection. Not ideal but ok, I get that part.
The question is: If I then want to go back to being a villain (and spend the 4 required days to do so) will I still have access to the ancillary power pool choices when I reach level 44 and 47 and 49? Or will I have to make the 8 day round trip again every time I want another power?
Thanks (great guide!)

The APPs are Archetype-Specific not Side-Specific.
Your MasterMind has access to the MasterMind APPs regardless of which side he's playing on. Your Corruptor has access to the Corruptor APPs, etc. No need to side switch if it's the APPs you want.
Now the PPPs DO require that you perform the patron arc and get the badge, so if you've got a hero-side character that wants one of the PPPs, you'll have to move them red-side for at least a little while.
EDIT: And with the PPPs, once you've unlocked them by getting the badge they stay unlocked even if you switch back to blue-side. -
Short answer is that you can't.
The super-boosters are automatically attached to the account that purchased them in the store.
Unless/Until they add in some kind of "gifting" feature like Steam has, there's no way to directly give someone else one of the boosters.
You could go the route of buying pre-paid visa cards in the correct amount and then giving the winner the card info so they can do the purchase under thier own account, but that's not really what you were wanting to do (from the sound of it), and there's usually some extra fee attached to those pre-paid visa cards that the purchaser has to pay up front in addition to the amount on the card. -
Yes.
The newest version (1.8) has the correct APP/PPP distribution for ATs, along with Electric Control and Kinetic Melee.
Just remember that you can no longer use the "auto-update" feature in Mid's. You have to manually go out to titannetwork and download it yourself. -
Yeah, that'll do it.
My newbie Demon Summoner is still rather low level (so no lvl 32 upgrade yet), but I frankly can't see any difference in the Demonlings after applying the first upgrade (unlike Bots/Zombies/Thugs/etc who look physically different after each upgrade), so I can see myself forgetting now and then too. -
First off, this ISN'T a call to change any powers. There's approximately zero-percent chance of that happening, and I'm not even sure if I'd want them changed anyway.
But, just for discussion purposes, what powers really bother you on a "this doesn't make any sense" level?
For me, the big ones are the "stealth" powers that should be doing just about anything other than providing stealth.
Steamy Mist, Cloak of Darkness, Smoke Grenade
When a big fog bank suddenly rolls through the office building or when everything goes completely dark or when a giant cloud of smoke suddenly fills the room, you'd think the enemy would be going "uh-oh, we've got company" rather than blithely standing there . . .
As a "well what would you do with these powers", I'd make Steamy Mist and Cloak of Darkness a PBAoE -ToHit DeBuff and also provide a +Defense Buff to you and teammates.
(You're hard to see/target so the +Def and anyone actually caught in the cloud has trouble seeing out/through it so the -ToHit)
For Smoke Grenade, I'd just to a bigger -ToHit DeBuff and drop the -Perception (SG's "stealth" effect) or even leave both, but drop the "no aggro" effect.
So, anyone else have any powers that just bother them on a gut level? -
Yep that's my "standard" slotting for all my Master Minds.
I've never really noticed a bad endurance issue with my pets.
I've done a Thugs to 40, a Necromancer to 50 (my only 50 villain, I prefer hero side),
and 2 Bots MMs into the mid 40's.
I've never done a Merc or Ninja MM high enough to warrant an opinion on though, and haven't played a Demon Summoner at all yet.
The only pet that I've ever really had any endurance issues with is the protector bots, and even that's pretty minor.
If I had to guess, I'd say it's probably just a playstyle difference. I pretty constantly feed my pets with whatever insps drop as they drop, and I tend to run at just +1/x3-4 (after 32 that is). I've made a couple of runs at +1/x7-8 and it's doable, but not as enjoyable for me.
Edit: Although I do really like Brackner's slotting for HoE and will probably adjust my planned build to fit the extra 2 slots in and go with that over my original planned 2 recharge and 2 procs slotting. -
Oh sure, there's a ton of things I'd love to see:
The ability to tweak the pet AI - either to turn on/off specific powers or to be able to directly command the use of some powers.
As much as I tend to giggle every time my little battle drone runs up and b***h-slaps the bad guys, I'd still prefer if I could tell it to STAY AT RANGE dang'it'all. Or be able to tell my protector bot to "bubble me first not last!" or "heal the assault bot, not that battle drone"
And a ton of other things too. I certainly wasn't trying to sound all "no way, you're a fool" in my responses. Just listing limits and questions regarding your suggestions.
As far as the double-set of pet aura procs, to be honest, if it was me in control of the powersets, I'd make the "pet set" aura procs and the "recharge pet set" aura procs mutually exclusive.
I feel it's a bit unfair that some MM types can slot all 4 while others can't just depending on which special power they have access to (Gang War/Soul Extraction/Hell on Earth vs Serum/Repair/Smoke Flash).
Since it would (probably..standard code rant applies) be easier to make them mutually exclusive so that everyone could only slot one of each type (def and res) than it would be to modify the MMs who don't have access to the other set. -
Quote:Not currently possible. As things stand right now, you can have power customization or weapon customization (choice); not both.Give people the ability to recolor muzzle flare on Mercs/Assault Rifle in general, and on Dual Pistols/Thugs
Quote:Make Acid Mortar able to use Rechargable Pet Sets, since that's what it is.
[Note: OK, it would open up the extra two "pet aura procs" for Traps MMs...so maybe]
Something wrong with the dismiss animations?
I know Bots, Undead, and Demons are working just fine.
Don't know about Mercs, Thugs, or Ninjas though as I haven't played them in quite awhile.
