I'm not entirely sure if the power-swapping bit could work correctly, but I like the idea of random buffs/debuffs and maybe a model change. It could work similarly to the Fortune power from the magic pack, except it affects yourself and it could give slight debuffs as well.
So, aside from the technical limitations of power-swapping, I agree with this idea. =D -
I am currently leveling a DB/EA stalker, and I must say he is a blast to play. He is currently my highest level character at level 34, and no matter how much resistance the enemies have I still have a ton of fun playing him.
Right now, regardless of the Lethal resistance of enemies, my stalker can currently solo mission set for five players, and the resistance isn't too noticeable, but you will see that enemies are harder to kill. Right now, the groups that resist lethal damage off the top of my head are Devouring Earth (Boulders and Sentries), Longbow, Arachnos (Tarantulas and Crab Spiders), Rikti (Bosses and Armored gunmen) and pretty much every single robot/ghost enemy, namely Circle of Thorns and Malta. Now, that does look like a lot, but there are still neutral groups to fight like the Council and Nemesis (only Fake Nemesis bosses and the robot minions are resistant) and some groups are weak to lethal like the Carnival of Shadows. The PPD is present at the level 50 range with their Peacebringer units, but they are surprisingly easy to kill.
All in all, while you may be at a slight disadvantage with lethal damage, it isn't enough to make your character unplayable. Sure, you won't have the sheer manpower of sets like Energy Melee, but the added toxic damage for spines can make up for the lethal resistance in the higher levels, since very few enemies at all can resist toxic. (Only robots to my knowledge are resistant to toxic).
So my advice would be to just avoid groups with numerous robot enemies if you can, like Rikti and Arachnos. If you slot for damage though, you should get along just fine. -
I agree with more animal pieces, just so long as it isn't called "Booster Pack: Furries."
=P -
Yeah, you pretty much have to make him yourself. The cool part is you can give him whatever powers you want! =P
Imagine giving him regen, but giving him very few powers from it. When he hits 25% health he could shout "Curses! I knew I shouldn't have nerfed regen again!" -
Quote:But it was still a combat mission, and that one little fight is enough to get you a small amount of XP/Inf. The AE tour has ZERO fights whatsoever, and you do absolutely nothing except talk to people. The University tutorial has you crafting recipes and getting salvage in addition to talking to people, so therefore it has a small XP/Inf reward.True, but that's really then not much different than the University tutorial on IOs and enhancements. In THAT arc tutorial, there's ONE fight... Oooooooo. I'm sorry, but most of that particular arc tutorial was also running around and talking to peeps and clicking things. One tiny little mission that had something like 5 enemies total. Wasn't much of an "attack mission".

Sign up Proto-Zero for this one. DB/EA Stalker.

I just wish the walk had more of a "casual" appearance to it. Right now it's on the verge of being a jolly skip from the Disney cartoons, and not just a simple "walk." It just doesn't set the right mood for me. The first time I tried it I had just defeated Back Alley Brawler in a mission, and I went just a little ways off from my contact. I wanted to walk slowly over to the contact to return the mission, as if to simply say "The deed is done, I expect my payment up-front." But then I see the incredibly strange magazine model walk and it completely killed the mood.
Do I personally like the power? Not really. The animation is almost enough to make me puke. Do other people like it? Heck yeah, though I can't see why. It's mainly a Role-playing tool for players to use, and I would have used it for reasons like the above, but now, not so much.
I would like a more casual, maybe even sinister animation for my walk power. Something similar to just lurking about, giving passers-by a menacing glare. Now that is a walk power I would use. -
Because that's all it is, a tour. There are no enemies to fight or anything, you're just walking around a small building talking to a few people to get familiar with the system. It's not so much a set of missions as it's just an introduction to the Mission Architect.
-
The problem with this build is too many slots for powers that don't need them. Hack does not need 6 Touch of Death recipes. Likewise, this build has not enough slots for powers that need them. Danger sense should be six-slotted! At the very least give it three slots, but more than one, and something other than a single Karma: +Knockback Protection.
Now, I'm not a stickler for optimum builds and slotting, but this really needs some serious work. -
Quote:Yeah, but if it made you completely invisible, then you could make a character almost impossible to see in PvP.PVP nightmare? I'd be cosmetic, it has nothing to do with actual invis. Everything else would still be animated, SS, toggles, etc.
I would like for a transparent appearance. Maybe as a skin-tone? -
I'm pretty sure I can make it. I'll bring my DB/EA Stalker, Proto-Zero for the group. =D

I don't really see what the big fuss is over EA. One small purple nearly soft-caps my defense to most attacks, and typed defense is better than positional defense IMHO.
If anything, I think I'm going to continue and use all nine attacks and see what happens. If it isn't as good as hoped, I can just respec and pick other powers. Anybody else have words of wisdom to share? -
My main villain is a DB/EA Stalker, and I must say it's a really fun combo. I just hit level 28 yesterday, and I (finally) picked up Placate. So far I'm having a blast, but I have a question.
Right now I have the Attack Vitals, Sweep, and Empower combos, and at 32 I will have Weaken, which will mean having to pick up all nine of Dual Blades powers. Is this a good idea for a Stalker? Or is this some personal thing that I just gotta work out myself?
I just want to make sure I don't make some silly mistake by picking all nine powers. Are the power slots better spent elsewhere? Is having all four combos really useful compared to having only two or three? -

Okay, I know you're new here, and weren't around for the original incident, but the very reason that Suggestions and Ideas is in For Fun now, instead of Development, is a story of two posters. Let's call one of them.... lkamen. And the other..... NWNGirl.
NWNGirl had a habit of posting suggestions and stating how simple they would be based on the fact that she had coded a few things in Neverwinter Nights, because all game code is, apparently the same. lkamen would infuriate her (and many others who posted outlandish suggestions that had a snowball's chance in hell of making it in the game, like permanent quadruple XP) by posting simply "no". Exacerbating the problem, NWNGirl would click the "report" button on any post that disagreed with her suggestions, no matter how politely, tersely or impolitely they were worded. Eventually, it all came to a head with bannings of the worst offenders in these, including those who would over-report, by reporting non-rule-breaking threads simply because they had a different opinion on the suggestion. The Community Reps and Devs decided that the S&I forum needed to be somewhere "less serious" than the development section, and so moved it to For Fun, in the hopes that people would not take themselves as seriously, and not see every Suggestion posted as holy mana provided from on high, but rather give them the feedback they need to become good suggestions. Or even explain why a suggestion just isn't good. -
I must be used to bad graphics, because the picture looks pretty normal to me. xD
EDIT: I guess I should post something about being first after a red name here, huh? -
The devs just have to make sure the rewards aren't too good, else nobody will want to switch sides.

Wow, that is strange indeed. It almost looks like some form of Greek that's been garbled up.
Yeah, let us know how the fresh install works. If that doesn't work, I'd try to contact support. -
If it's also on the server screen, then give us a picture of that. Here's how...
1) Go to the server selection screen.
2) Press [Print Scrn] on your keyboard. (Some keyboards might say [Print Screen])
3) Close the game and open up Windows Paint.
4) Click on the "Cut" tool, on the very top of the toolbar.
5) Right click anywhere on the canvas and click the "Paste" option.
That should give us a picture of the screen. Let us know if it works. -
Alright, lemme touch on each subject just a little.
Quote:Truth is, those two villains you mentioned are probably the only fat supers I've ever seen in the comic world. I'm not against making fat characters, and I would like it, but then they've have to a brand new skeleton for the fat model, and make new animations for every single power ever. That's a lot of work for something so little.1. Fat heroes/villains. Yes, I want make a chubby hero! Come on, there´s some fat NPCs but they are very few in general. Why can´t I make a toon like Blob or Kingpin? Or even a beer-belly crime-fighter? That way some of us fattys can get the "feel" of being heroic...
Quote:2. Children. No, a child is not a small adult. Ask a Pediatrician if you want. The only kid I can remember to see on this game was that baby New Year, and it´s a really creepy kid I must say...
Quote:3. Huge woman models. Like strongwoman types. Think Giganta (from Wonder Woman), specially in the Golden Age.
Quote:4. Animals. Cats, Dogs, Birds and the like... It would be fun to fight a Rabid Dog as a lowbie and maybe a Dinossaur as I get higher in the food chain...
Quote:5. Animal faces and body parts. We can with some work make Bird-like or Gorilla-like toon, but would help a lot to have specific parts for that.
Quote:6. REAL claws. As someone put before (sorry, can´t recall who did it) "think Sabretooth, not Wolverine". I think that can be done with a "glove model" if realistic hands are too dificult.
Quote:In the gameplay itself we certainly could use both more begginer content and high level content, as when you hit 50 with a toon there´s not much to do besides hit 50 with another... And let´s face it, for people who have played for long time (or suffer from altitis like me) the early game content have become quite boring. But that we see everybody complaining so...
Also, once you hit level fifty, you can begin collecting badges. It's not required, but it's something else to do. You could also continue working on your level fifty using recipes to make it as good as it can possibly be. There's lots of stuff to do at level fifty, and if you don't like any of that stuff, then you can start over with a brand new character with totally different powersets. This game is about the journey really, not the destination.
Hope this helps. =D -
Quote:There's your answer. Costume pieces aren't needed for anything. They are just nice little tidbits for the character creator. It gives you an incentive to keep playing the game, but it's not game breaking in any way. It doesn't give anybody an advantage over anyone else, it's just something to say "Thanks for playing our game! Here, have a Trenchcoat; and if you keep playing, we'll give you some Samurai armor too!"but costumes arent powers and they arent game breaking in any way, they are fluff, placed there because nothing else could be thought of at that time for that particular Veteran reward, IMO.
I'm only at three months now, so all I have are the Trenchcoats, and I'm satisfied with them. If you gave everybody everything up front, they would get bored quicker and wouldn't stick around for very long.
So, no. I don't think the Vet rewards need to be changed at all. They're fine the way they are now. -
I almost forgot about my all-time favorite cheat code EVER from a video game.
/npc spawn [character]
A really fun little cheat that originated from the Jedi Knight games, which would allow you to spawn any character in the game right in front of you, even yourself! (/npc spawn player)
Man, I'd love to go to a costume contest in atlas and type /npc spawn reichsman_invincible
and watch the ensuing chaos. Oh the fun I could have with that.... -

/TestingCheatsEnabled_True
Basically this was the code for debug mode in the Sims games. It let you do whatever you want, and clicking on anything while holding [shift] unlocked a whole slew of options.
I would love a debug cheat for Co* -

Since there are only three types of missions (kidnapping, theft, or boss fight), I would say just have one of each appear every time. Seems better that way.
