  1. AFAIK, one chance that it'll affect you upon summoning, and then one chance per 10 secs that it'll affect the pet. Of course, the Spout is immune to recharge buffs and doesn't have any powers that would benefit from them anyway, so all in all the +rech proc is a waste in that power.

Indeed. And it is surely not connected some other crystalline, crimson coloured substance of mystic nature that gets referred to as 'coral'. For it would indeed be insane to believe that this so called 'Red Coral', known for it's magical properties and it's mysterious connection with the creature known as the Leviathan could possibly be similar in any way with this other (and I insist, the likeness of the names must surely be a coincidence) 'Blood Coral', known for it's magical properties and not-quite-as-mysterious connection with the creature known as the Leviathan... right?

And we pretty much did know there was a direct Merulina->Leviathan connection. Check out what Renault has to say:

    Quote:
The Temple of the Waters is an elusive place where a great treasure lies, the Eye of the Leviathan! This great eye is made of living coral and is reputed to possess powers of an ancient sea goddess. Captain Mako has tasked us with bringing him a piece of the eye so he may reap its power. If you are successful, you too shall share in the reward!
Remarkably close to the truth, I'd say.

If not, is the jetpack recipe a different temp power? Can you have one of each at the same time?
Don't know about the 1st question, but all the different jetpacks are indeed different powers. You can have the mayhem/safeguard, the crafted temp and the vendor purchased jetpacks at the same time. You can also toss the couple of mission reward packs for even more variety.

I give it an A- for effort, but needlessly making up lore where it isn't required.
What do you mean by this? I'm not a lore junkie by a long shot, but as far as I can tell all the arc did was explain the leviathan-golem-coralax-merulina connection (which we knew existed), basically tying up the Sharkhead storyline.

Sounds like you missed the 2.25% at 4 pieces of Eradication and Devastation also gives that at 3 pieces. Slot 3 Devs and 3 Apocs in 2 ranged powers for 11%, right there.

Also, Spiritual Core Paragon gives ED-cheating +HP in HPT.

I'm pretty sure you can hit it.

Edit: In fact, this very silly (and expensive) fire/wp would hit it:

Who knows, you might even have enough slots and powers left to make something semi-decent out of it.

Edit edit: Looking at it a bit more, you could do it without the Shield Walls, with a much more down-to-earth arrangement, you might even be able to dispense with using all 6 Apocs as set mules.

Edit mk III: Looking at it again it's the silliest collection of IOs I've ever commited to Mids. There are definitely much cheaper and sensible ways of hitting the HP cap as a WP scrapper.
  9. Mind/Fire is a very powerul combo, but has no pet. No pet means no TIBBERS!, and no TIBBERS! would make for a rather sad Annie.

If I were going for an Annie homage toon, I'd go Fire/Fire:

-ST hold and AoE Stun are you bread-and-butter controls - just like Annie
-Consume gives good endurance management - just like Annie
-Hotfeet, for a meelee range AoE DoT - not quite like Annie, but as close as it gets in this game.
-High ST thanks to /fire and High AoE if you go for the Fire Epic pool
-Lastly, pets that are on fire. 3 flaming minkeys instead of TIBBERS! but better than nothing.

  11. 1- Attack Vitals and Sweep are only two combos really worth using at high levels. The former for single target (although the finisher is a pretty sweet cone!), the latter for AoE. At lower levels, you may find Weaken handy for mitigation, while Empower is plain terrible.

2- Get to 45% defense to melee/range/aoe, then focus on +HP, with +regen as a secondary target.

3- Not really. As Street cleaner notes DB's basic attack chains are BF>>AV combo and BF>>Sweep. With Quickness and a handful of +rech bonuses (around 30-40%) you'll be able to chain them without pauses. Any more recharge will do little for your primary and absolutely nothing for your secondary.

4- My DB/SR Scrapper has no trouble getting around without a travel power. Slot a single runspeed in quickness, swift and sprint and you'll Ninja Run at very respectable speeds. Make sure to always have a Raptor Pack handy though, for dealing with excessively vertical areas.

5- Agree with other posters on Alpha - Cardiac or Spiritual. Cardiac lets you skimp on endred slotting, while Spirit would probably get you enough +rech that you could ignore getting any from set bonuses.

True, that. Nowadays you can get fighting+travel+medicine and still have enough for a couple of epic pool picks or whatever. Which IMO is not really that tight at all. Used to be pretty bad though.
  13. Good comic. Although I'll echo some comments re: GG's cleavage. I mean, sheesh lady, talk about the Uncanney Valley.
  14. This here is my steampunkish toon. It's more along the sedate, tan-and-leather victorian steampunk than Girl Genius' very awesome Prussian Empire aesthetics, but that's nothing playing with the colour palette wouldn't be able to solve, I think. I really hope they update the steampunk glove textures to the new hi-res standards some day...

  17. To answer the second question, it's entirely possible to have a Fort with nothing but psi blasts and a Widow with nothing but claw attacks.

As for the first... it's a very neat concept! As Darkgob noted, non-player Banes basically work in this manner, and it's no stretch to imagine a powerful psychic replicating the phenomenon. Add the fact that Widows get the Mind Link power (which essentially does what your character does, on a smaller, non-permanent scale, per the power's description) and it all makes perfect sense.
  18. DOOOOOOOOOOMâ„¢!

But no, not feeling it. If anything, the new 50+ content gives me something to do with my 50s, as I tend to neglect them once they hit the cap. I've also been levelling a tanker, corr, 'shade and huntsman and only having trouble finding teams on the huntsman. But that's just redside being redside.
  19. Cascading defense failure is a nun-issue for /SR because you have +YES resistance to defense debuffs. It's all the other, inferior, soft-capped toons that have to worry about it.

As for your actual question, yes. Enemies can have to-hit buffs and to-hit subtracts from defense in the final hit chance equation much like a defense debuff:

    An even-con minion 10% tohit buff will hit a 50/50/50 character 10% of the time: (50% defense - (50% base+10%)x1.00Acc = 10%

It'll hit the 45/45/45 15% of the time.

However, the number of enemies with to-hit buffs you can significantly mitigate with extra defense isn't really big: DE quartz gives a whopping 100% tohit, and Nemesis Vengeance will rip through Soft-Cap+Elude if it stacks more than a couple of times. Malta Gunslingers and Rularuu eyeballs use extremely high accuracy, not tohit, and so extra defense doesn't help any... You get the idea.
  20. Last I heard, the optimal DB chain uses BF-AS-SS-AS, needing insane (well beyond perma-hasten) amounts of recharge in AS to make it possible.

Question 1: How much recharge does it require?
Question 2: How does this chain, using a Spiritual Alpha, stack against the easier BF-Attack Vitals, if the latter has a Musculature?

I'd do the math for the 1st question... but I'm a) lazy and b) pretty sure someone has the info more or less on hand. I have no idea how to math out the second question.
