Quote:Are you crazy?? You know how much a Harley costs nowdays?I'd give you that, if the bruiser used his bike as a one-time projectile. As he comes in, he hops off the bike, sending it smashing into the nearest foe, like a poor man's Propel.
He just gets off calmly and starts punching faces. After he passes his beer off to me to hold, of course. -
I would have to give this award tot he bruiser on MM thugs. The dude rides a frickin Harley into wherever you are... summon him on water, in a sewer, on a rooftop, etc...it doesnt matter- hes still riding his bike, that guy is badass.
In the old days I used to love playing hellion hockey in Perez park on my ice/em blaster with powerboost. Back when PB actually booosted knockback I could send those mobs flying halfway across the map...literally. That was fun.
Least fun I think Im going to say speed boost... nothing at all wrong with the power, in fact quite the opposite, but on a full team at a fast pace, it becomes quite tedious to recast every 2 minutes- I rarely play my kin because of this. Great power, but awful in game for the poor soul relegated to buffbotting a full team.
Wormhole has to be one of the coolest in game too, its a one of a kind power type, has a cool graphic effect, and is tons of fun solo. -
I only farm and sell drops. Flipping provides absolutely no service to my fellow players, and in fact only serves to further drive up prices and make more part timers frustrated over not being able to afford anything good without resorting to investing/flipping themselves to get it.
Therefore, I only sell what I dont use from what I get farming, and only buy what I cant find with the proceeds from what I sell. I think of it as my little gift back to CoH. Theres enough fake money profiteers out there that the game doesnt need me making it worse.
That said, I only play 1-2 hours a day topping out at about 4-5 hours a week total, so dont generate as much stuff as I used to. I probably take in 50 mil a night, then spend 150 mil a week so I only hold onto 50-100 mil profit in a week of play.
I am a billionaire...but dont think I rate too high on the ebil scale. -
ug...even at 4 billion a drop i just dont have 5+ hours per chance of a drop of farming in me...

I always put active defense on auto, and use manual clicks for rage/hasten at least 10 secs apart so the crashes do not stack. If you are not right with the timing, you can run into the tri-fecta of doom that is rage crash, hasten crash, auto-fire AD which is a lot of end going bye bye really quickly. I think thats somewhere around 50 end if they all drop/fire at once... say hello to detoggle death if you are busy spamming AoEs at the time...
So I leave AD on auto and time my hasten to keep AD double stacked when needed, and I usually try to double stack rage for the -def avoidance right before it crashes. But generally I dont find a need for double stacked rage and the double crashes it brings.
I actually find my SS/fire to be tedious with the timing on hasten/rage, so my ss/sh is even more frustrating. I am thinking of rolling a fire/shield and calling it a day on rage for fast paced farm toons... too much work when all i want to do is button mash and not keep checking my timers on crashes. -
Quote:I work with 46% S/L resist - capped with surge when needed, and run a decent hoverblasting boost ranged AoE chain filled with Blazes/fireblasts on hard targets. My other build is 128.3% global recharge (before hasten- 198.3% perma hasten recharge) and hardly gets used... even on teams I like the versatility of being self sustaining, so I usually keep the defense build over the uber uber expensive recharge build.I build for both recharge and defense. Very few softcapped Blasters of any sort have impressed me, though. They tend to be very endurance-heavy, skip critical powers (I've seen a grand total of 1 range softcapped Fire blaster that took Fire Breath) and have horrible slotting. Advocates of defense over recharge typically fall into the trap of chasing set bonuses blindly.
Shame to have all those gamblers and purples and unique IOs sitting on a build that ends up taking backseat to a much cheaper much more versatile build.
Thats the best way I know how to answer the OPs post.
And here is my defense build. I usually dont post them, but meh... enjoy if you like it.

Quote:Yeah... I made this mistake my first "break". Left for WoW release with a bunch of other sgmates, so i just went to Atlas and gave away all my influ... needless to say when I came back they implemented IOs/the market, and I was flat broke and had to start all over with only a 50 ice/ice blaster and a 50 fire/rad troller... thank goodness for that troller... or I might still be broke.Ive done so twice now and havent regretted it.
The key is to never burn your bridges so you dont want to come back. For me that would mean dont jettison my 300 or so IOs I have stored or give away all my influence or delete my 50s....
Now when I take breaks, I just sleep upon my horde of gold like a dragon, resting before I return to eat more villagers. -
Quote:Its a nice bonus when it works, but I notice lately its all common IO recipes. That's actually what I use 90% of the time (although I'm considering switching), but I've noticed the bonus recipe rewards aren't much to write home about...
I dont know what the drop rate is for common/uncommon/rare on the bonus drops, but when day jobs first came into being, I parked in Oro and charged up my bonus, then proceeded to get 4 Obliteration triples in a row from mission completes in PI on paper missions!
Needless to say, since then I dont remember getting even one non common... I think I burned my good drops up in a blaze of glory that first night. Oh but what a night it was. -

Quote:lol I like where you are going here...I like the improvements in your most recent build. It looks pretty strong overall. Here are a few things I noticed that might help you improve it further:
- Circular Logic benefits greatly from the Coercive Persuasion: Contagious Confusion proc. Taking CL is almost not worth it without it, because most enemies will break through the circle too quickly. The CC proc extends the chaos beyond the normal reach of your logic, keeping enemies dazed a little longer. You're more likely to win if your opponents are fighting each other instead of you.
- Consider replacing Flight with Super Speed. You can combine it with Netspeak for invisibility, important for stealthing past fights you can't win. You can also use it to launch sneak attacks with Outright Lie.
- Hyperbole needs to be slotted for Fear duration. It's almost not worth taking with your current slotting.
- No Rage or Footstomp?
OP: We're just messing with you. But I think you should reconsider how you direct your frustration. I don't know how anyone can answer a question like "how fun is XYZ build" without making at least some reference to the powers. Maybe you are power-agnostic, but its just weird to ask a question about a build and not expect a response about, you know, the build.
I six slotted my trolling with 5 interrupt IOs and a special fire resist 90% IO for threads like this. Coupled with my innate regen, I am damn near unkillable.
But im not worried about the numbers... I just play the "game". -
Quote:The Dark toggle is auto hit -tohit debuff and damage. So theres always some debuff no matter mob defense, and I believe the fear cone checks vs psi def...so theres usually plenty of -to hit on mobs no matter what, but I see your point in general you cant debuff what you cant hit.just to know, how a D3 def handle ùob with high defense?
i see no D3 build that include tactics (only maneuver)
i don't recall dark misama having a defense debuff, so how could you debuff mob that you can't hit? (no aim in dark) :s
For the most part though, dark miasma offers debuffs that will affect most mobs even those with high def to typed damage apart from psi. I solve this issue with the kismet +acc IO in one of my def powers if I do not choose tactics. -
Quote:Funny you mention that- because Smurphy linked that article in theMarket channel last night talking about how people kept stealing all his good ideasAs described in this article here
I do have to say that I'm disappointed that the player who ran off with the dough was not named JoJo. -
Roll a fire/invuln brute. problem solved.
Waiting for the animations on EM is like watching paint dry. So boring and slow. Its the exact opposite of what a good fury generating set needs to be.
Honestly, until EM is "fixed" again its a broken set. Especially for brutes trying to keep up fury and still get to use their high damage attacks.
Fire melee does exellent single target and good AoE damage, and generates fury much better at high damage value then having to spam brawl...
Plus it looks cooler then having colored pom poms on your brutes hands. -

Quote:Pretty much this. But it seems people into hardcore ERP probably think going out and finding someone in real life is too much work, and concentrate on their virtual lives way more then their actual lives... which of course spirals into a cycle of them not taking care of RL issues that would help them to find an actual mate in the flesh, therefore the situation worsens and they focus more time on escape, and even less on personal hygene/growth/human interest.I don't dislike ERP because I'm immature or uptight. I dislike it because I think ERP is immature and a even bit uptight itself. It screams of frustrated sexuality, of unvented urges coming out in an odd way, through the medium of a Video Game. It seems sophmoric.
I can't imagine anything more BORING as a sexual experience than watching someone else type dirty words into a computer poorly. I can do much much better than that in real life.
I saw a character bio on Virtue once that said "I no longer ERP as I have found someone in real life". That about says it all. Whenever I see someone ERPing, I think "maybe they, too, should go find someone in real life."
However, as long as people do it in private with people they know to be actual real adults and everyone's happy, I don't really care.
And the wheels on the bus go round and round.
So hot.
((brb fapping)) -
Brute. Probably fire/wp or ss/wp is one of the better bang for the buck straight out of the box to get 1-50 real fast.
Pretty much tears through content, and /wp is good even on SOs while levelling up.
Or a MM if you just want to afk level to 50 -
Also, keep in mind what works for levelling up might not be what you want at 50...
So, while levelling I generally take aid self for soloing, but at 50, I rarely keep it in my builds, as I am soft capped to range defense, and usually dont need it anymore. But getting to 50 without it would have been more tedious, so I usually recommend it on blasters who solo. Its all well and good to think you are going to kill them all before they kill you, but before you have defense or much mitigation, I prefer to have aid self to fall back on to keep me rolling along with no downtime.
For power pools while levelling, I usually go with fitness, speed, medicine, and leave the 4th pool to meet any needs i havent already addressed. I ALWAYS take stamina, and hasten, and on blasters get build up and Aim ASAP.
Your job is to kill mobs before they kill you, so haivng end, recharge, and buffs to hit and damage are your main requirements.
As far as aid self goes, take it or dont, but I have run about 260 levels of blasters, and solo it really helps speed up levelling because without it you are looking at serious downtime for rest/regen or holding tons of green insp every map. I prefer to hold purples and use aid self and just keep rolling along rather then taking a knee every other mob to get my green bar back.
Keep in mind, my advice is for levelling up to 50, not for being 50- theres a big difference. plus you spoke of being on only short hours and soling alot ( which is my exact playstyle as well) so my advice on aid self was with soloing a blaster to 50 in mind. -
Just the lenth of the cone.
But by being longer, the wide end of the cone is indeed larger, and you are more likely to hit foes on the outer edges of the cones range, thus making the cone more likely to hit max # of mobs.
You just have to target the back of a spawn, and start your attack a little further back to take advantage of the longer cone.
I find range to be very nice in short 40 ft cones, good in the 60 ft and 80 ft cones, and not needed in the 100 ft cones (fearsome stare and the psy blast cone come to mind as cones that are already really long cones) If the cone is already 80-100 ft long, you run into sometimes hitting a spawn behind your target spawn and drawing two full groups if you arent careful.
Hope that helps. -
Quote:Should be a good choice for what you are looking for.Okay... I just rolled a fire/Ice.... first time for that combo.
I went with an outcast/CoT/Magic kind of theme. It works. We'll see how far I get with this guy!
Thanks again.
Nice mitigation from /ice, so you can blast Aoes off with partial impunity, and has all the burny goodness of fire blast damage. The combo of ice patch and fireball/rain of fire/fire breath will make you happy.
Pick up medicine pool for aid self, and you should level up with little debt while solo. This helps especially before you have IOs in the build I find.
I personally dont have a fire/ice, but always thought the ocmbo would be fun- however, I already have Ice/ice, Ice/em, fire/em, and fire/mm at 50, so i think all my fire and ice options are pretty well covered...
That said, if you hadnt already rolled the toon, I was going to suggest fire/mm as my most potent option overall, and recommend it. Once IOed this build is a beast of blasting. But it was pretty costly to set out.
Have fun with your 2.0 blaster. You will find things much different than years ago, when debt was crippling to blasters, and we didnt have the tools of defiance or IOs to help us out. -
Man this thread delivers.
But needs moar caps and large font.
5 stars. -
Well, something like AM I would still cast on him if possible- the +dam and +speed both still work on him as well as the resists.
Speed boost I rarely bother anymore unless i need the pet to keep up with a fast moving pace, and its lagging on runspeed.
And with the attack chain AI still unfixed on most pets after the supposed "fix" by nerfing the recharge on pets, I remain skeptical that the recharge in any way is the problem, and that was simply a convenient way to shovel a nerf down the throats of speed boosted imps and super recharged tornado pets without overly angering people... as if the nerf was truly meant to fix a deeper problem, and the poor recharge in pets had to be sacrificed for the greater good. Ha.
Sarcasm and internets dont mix well, but thats my take on the recharge and pet issue. The same as it was when they first gave us that cocknbull excuse for the nerf.
So, long story short, no. Recharge does not affect pets either buff or debuff, so plan accordingly when deciding if a buff is worth applying to pets. -
Quote:Before my partners in crime left for other pursuits away from this game, we were completing it in about 1:15 -1:30 including me taking a smoke break for mah head.First, only a good team finishes the Positron TF fast enough to really make the merits equal more merits than time invested.
Second. WHy would you want a Positron length SF? People complain about the length of the Positron TF now. It would just get complained about redside as well. :P
Its only slow on large teams/bad teams/low level teams...with IOed 50s running it at +5 lvl to exemp, its quite painless to get 66 merits real fast.
Villainside I would like to see something like it for sure- it went from being the most reviled TF in the game to being the very best possible once its merit rewards were put in line with the datamining. All that early fail only served to fuel the merit increase for those of us who know how to run the thing.
Its kinda like the Autobahn- bad drivers need to take another road if they cant keep up. -
Quote:If you make a /getglobalname macro you should name the button "CREEP"...Probably the only way you can do this is by making up a stalkerish type bind... by using getlocalname on their global...if it shows up with the toon name you wanted to friend, then they are probably online on that particular toon.
Would be kinda creepy if you ask me though...I've had my fair share of times where someone has seemed to 'find' me whenever I logged in.
Because it is a little creepy to have people not on your global seemingly knowing your every login.
