+recharge and Controller pets
Pets are unaffected by recharge buffs. That was a specific change made to stop the AI going stupid when faced with unexpected recharge times. Jack is plenty stupid as it is, alas; last time I hauled out my ice controller he seemed to have fallen back into his old habits of getting stuck on one attack.
He will, at least, benefit from the damage buff.
The side effect of this is that they are also unaffected by recharge debuffs. This makes pets very nice to have against things like Council Marksmen and others with -recharge attacks.
It does make the pet power itself recharge faster....
So if your jack is dying a lot it might be worth it. I usually don't bother.
Well, something like AM I would still cast on him if possible- the +dam and +speed both still work on him as well as the resists.
Speed boost I rarely bother anymore unless i need the pet to keep up with a fast moving pace, and its lagging on runspeed.
And with the attack chain AI still unfixed on most pets after the supposed "fix" by nerfing the recharge on pets, I remain skeptical that the recharge in any way is the problem, and that was simply a convenient way to shovel a nerf down the throats of speed boosted imps and super recharged tornado pets without overly angering people... as if the nerf was truly meant to fix a deeper problem, and the poor recharge in pets had to be sacrificed for the greater good. Ha.
Sarcasm and internets dont mix well, but thats my take on the recharge and pet issue. The same as it was when they first gave us that cocknbull excuse for the nerf.
So, long story short, no. Recharge does not affect pets either buff or debuff, so plan accordingly when deciding if a buff is worth applying to pets.
I have an ice/rad. I usually make sure Jack is nearby when I refresh accelerated metabolism because I figure the +recharge will be handy for his attacks. But I've never been able to really tell a difference (when I'm fighting 10 enemies at once, it's hard to tell what Jack's doing anyway). Can anyone comment on whether +recharge is useful for controller pets?
I imagine it speeds up their power recharge, but I am confused as to whether the pet AI takes advantage of it.
KABOOM!
