Well in PVP your defense is gonna get nerfed by DR anyways....

Elec is the current FOTM because Thunderstrike, although it has only a 50% chance to crit from hide, it crits for double damage unlike total focus (and ET which doesn't crit for damage at all)

    [/ QUOTE ]
It has a 100% crit and an additional 50% crit; the 100% crit pushes it past the damage of a Total Focus crit (290.22 base damage vs 253.61 for Total Focus), the 50% on top makes it really close to Assassin's Strike (389.28 for AS, 386.96 for TS).

Just addressing a few points I've seen in the thread:
[*]I wouldn't care about removing the AE buildings from the various lowbie zones - although villainside it's not like people use the ones in Mercy or Port Oakes in any case (I occasionally go there because they're quiet).
[*]Replacing some of the AE buildings for player-created "libraries" in the low level zones would be good; then you could cover some of the things like the guides, a few general wiki things, and so on. It would likely go underused but it would be very nice to see some of the things that forumgoers take for granted as readily available in the game itself for the people who didn't even know there was an official forum.
[*]Even more annoying contact pop-ups that take up a spot on your contact list and never go away is the worst idea I've heard about this. There's a tutorial that explains the normal operation of the game already, I don't need each and every alt that I make having a nuisance popup every time. I already hate it enough at level 5 when I get the Architect Manager popping up for an essentially useless tour that just has you go talk to contacts that are there for you to talk to all the time anyway, has to be in one specific zone, and other than getting rid of a contact on the active list has no other function whatsoever. On the other hand, the little "day job recruiter" type doesn't bother me and I'd much rather have the AE manager changed to this type of contact so I can decide if I want to waste the time or not.
[*]With the amount of focus placed on the Mission Architect as the "MMO new shiny" by the dev team, I doubt any of these suggestions will happen - preferred though they may be.

Funny you should mention this... my level 24 Brute is currently 7.4m through the badge and getting roughly 245k/hr resting in front of a +3 Juicer/Stunner Freak who simply cycles Charged Brawl over and over (roughly every 4 seconds). She's /SR so resting getting through the interrupt time isn't too hard and there aren't any extra hp to burn through. I'd imagine that a level 50 would be able to do roughly double that, since she's still under 800hp. This is with a Heal SO in Rest, though - without capping regeneration it was too much damage coming in.

And yes, the debt badge is (now) far far easier to get, since you can simply get patrol xp and suicide to rapidly "work off debt"; I've gone from under 50k to the 1.2m badge in under a half hour with a level 41.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
I imagine the devs thought getting the build up proc in black dwarf mire would be a bit much. I mean, a chance to proc on up to 10 enemies at once, when you've already likely just capped effective ACC to begin with, as well as capped damage to boot?

    [/ QUOTE ]
    That's a problem?
  7. <QR>

My recommendation would be to go with the merit route since you're far more likely to get it sooner that way than with drops. Of course, you can still try to get it from drops while getting the merits - either through Ouroboros or TFs that cap at 40 and below.

    Post your GUI

Here is one example for me; I occasionally tweak the window colors based on the characters (Little Bunny Pew Pew has pink windows, and Midnight's Eclipse uses dark grey) and almost always customize the attribute monitor based on which AT/powersets I'm using.

Otherwise, it's pretty much the same defaults, just one tray expanded and everything shoved into the corners out of the way.

I've done the LGTF plenty of times over the past couple years, but he has never been this much of a problem before. Is this a bug? Is he supposed to be able to use Unstoppable that often, that quickly? What the frak?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Although it is never gonna happen, it would be very, very interesting to see datamining concerning how often the Reischmann TF is actually being run. Right now, I'm thinking "Comparatively not much, probably."

All the time I get this:

    "Hey wanna run ITF?"

    "STF forming, want in?

"Lady Grey forming, want in?" [and dammit, this ALWAYS happens when I have NO time to devote to a TF.... oh well, one day....]

    "You in for KHTF?"

    "How 'bout a SpeedEden?"

I go to Cimerora: most of the time there is a team idled near the ITF contact, waiting for someone to zone in. Or its "ITF want in...?" there too. ITF every day, all the time.

Teams spotted at the Reischmann contact in FF 3+ days after i15 hits: 0. All night, every night. On both servers I frequent heavily, no one is trying to form this TF. No one /tells me asking if I want in. I am uncertain I have ever actually even seen the badge on anyone's badge-sheet when I'm looking over their info! I am 100% serious when I say that I do not ever think I have actually seen it on someone else's badge sheet.

I know that this TF has been run successfully by a few, that isn't my point. But what the anecdotal evidence looks like from over here is that interest in this brand-spankin'-new TF is minimal at best, due to its bad reputation. This seems like an extremely serious design-flaw as well as a waste of developmental time to me, but what do I know.

I do know that until this TF/SF's multiple issues have been addressed somehow, I have no interest in running it. It would be interesting to know how many others feel similarly. We won't ever know, but it would be interesting. It seems like you better bring eight Rad/rads or expect the consequences.

    [/ QUOTE ]
This is all off-topic, but the TF, or the SF?

Because I see people forming the TF pretty frequently on the global channels I monitor and it's been called "the new Katie" at least once due to the ability to speedrun it.

The SF isn't run nearly as often, but I still see those forming as well.

  11. <QR>

It's not bugged so much as WAI.

And I haven't had any issues with it, but that may be due to the fact that I run a Dark/Cold, and the team I was on last night had an Ice/Cold, three Fire/Rad Corruptors, an Ill/Rad Controller, Sonic/Sonic Defender, and DM/Shield Scrapper. Oddly enough he didn't last very long.

As a side note, I've also been on a team that completed it shorthanded with 4 Scrappers, 2 Brutes, and a Dominator - the Tanker quit during the first mission. As has been mentioned, if you do enough damage between Unstoppables it just simply doesn't matter.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
We should start a thread about which is more fun, a Human-only, a BiForm or a TriForm... then we'll see some heated up discussions...

    [/ QUOTE ]
My first Warshade (now 50) was levelled up as a triform and when not using it to stealth through missions she essentially stayed in either nova or dwarf depending on how prevalent mezzes were and dropped to human form in order to use the long(ish) recharge nifty powers like Eclipse, Dark Extraction, and so on as well as to let Hasten autofire when I noticed it recharged.

I had planned out a human-only build for her but never got around to doing it because one of the things I liked was the general versatility. I'm weaning myself off of triform, though: my second Warshade, currently level 24, is Human/Nova and Human/Dwarf on her two builds just to allow me to focus slots (and since I used the freespec given to make the Human/Dwarf build all of the attacks in that form have 5 slots already at level 24 ).
  13. [ QUOTE ]
I DO get occasionally bursted to death, and that's probably something SR would have an easier time surviving with their resists.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Not likely - the resistance values are relatively small and kick in at low enough health that a quick burst is going to get you anyway. Kuji-in Sha helps Ninjitsu survive bursts far and away better than Super Reflexes' scaling resistances do; the issue with Nin is cascade defense failure, something that the capped defense debuff resistance of SR prevents rather nicely.
  14. <QR>

An even sillier idea - heck with it, just give ElA scaling resistance.

SO slotting, 35% Ne, 41% Sm/Le/Fi/Co/Ps, 90% En; using the SR scaling passive percentages (0.9% res/%hp if you sum them up), at 50% health you'd be passing 50% resistance to most damage types and would cap resistance to all but Ne and Tx at 5% health.

FWIW I don't know how effective scaling regeneration would be since by the time you get a significant boost you'd be one or two hits from being killed anyway and it would take longer for the regen to be effective than those hits would take to damage you. If you set it hit enough to survive a few hits then it will shut itself off and you may as well simply call it a small heal and give Power Sink the Energy Drain treatment.
  15. No and no; also wouldn't mind an option to disable email as all it does is fill up my ignore list.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
    Hey Joe...

Just wanted to say that as far as I understand, for Black Dwarf Mire to be able to allow To-Hit-Debuff IO sets, it would actually have to emulate all the other powers that allow To-Hit-Debuff IO sets, meaning that it'd have to actually debuff the To-Hit property of enemies. This of course would sharply contrast with the rest of the debuffing aspects of Warshades, not to mention making Black Dwarf a better tank-form than it already is and ought to be.

    [/ QUOTE ]
The bolded part is true, and would even make sense if the OP had requested ToHit [u]De[u]buff sets.

Since they requested ToHit Buff sets, and the power provides +ToHit, it seems to be a rather irrelevant point.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
I believe this happend in July but what about animation nerfs?

    1.0 Energy Transfer was changed.

I believe the mallets in Stone Melee were changed? Weren't they 1.17 cast time and 1.07 and are now 1.67?

Dark Melee? I believe the punches were .67 and .78 or something. Were they changed?

    [/ QUOTE ]
The Mallets in Stone Melee were both 1.17 seconds previously, and are now 1.61 and 1.63 seconds for Stone and Heavy Mallets respectively. It's a fairly substantial hit in DPA performance, but on a high recharge build SM is the best single target damage (barring a large number of targets for Soul Drain, then DM takes the title due to the longer-lasting buff). Details and attack chains are listed in the links in my sig.

The changes to animations for DM (along with Brawl, Charged Brawl, Stone Fist, and Energy Punch) were supposedly just number corrections in the listed descriptions - according to the devs at the time they were always activating at the currently listed value.

Since you're asking about animation times, you may want to look up the whole Arcanatime phenomenon and its effect on them - someone else will have to provide a link to the thread discussing the details but essentially it takes server ticks into account since your attacks won't start between them and you have to wait until the tick after your animation completes. For a quick calculation: (RoundUp(listed animation / 0.132) + 1) * 0.132 in seconds. It definately rearranges the DPA on some powers - for instance Bone Smasher is higher DPA than Energy Punch once this is taken into account.

Well.... considering you can get a secondary conserve power in one of the patron pools.... it really does seem unnecessary to have the power at all in ElA. Not only that, but you can get all your endurance needs from Power Sink.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Huh?

None of the patron pools for Brutes come with Conserve Power, or any form of it.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I thought it was added briefly as the 5th power in Mu Mastery during i13 beta, but there were a lot of "why the heck is that there?!" comments given that both Energy Aura and Electric Armor have CP and rarely ever take it, so it was removed. That's why the other pools have 5 and Mu Mastery has 4, with the supposition that it will be getting another power added later.

As for the "Cottage Rule", how many Energy Assault Dominators are complaining about Power Push being changed to an attack instead of a single-target soft control power?

This stupid trivia point has been brought to you by the number 8 and the letter M.
  19. <QR>

Skimmed through the thread after the OP and the first few replies... The_Hegemon's post seems to sum up most of what I was going to say.

Yes, Dominators only get 1 single-target hold. It lasts longer than a Blaster's or Corruptor's (Dominators have the same mez modifiers as Defenders so I'm leaving that AT out of the comparison), so you can double-stack it fairly easily or if Domination is up you don't even need to since Domination is essentially a doublestack of all of your mez powers, with extended duration on the second casting. You can also hold multiple things in a spawn with just the one hold, and your AoE controls will last long enough for the recharge on it so that you can. You can still permahold multiple things, it just takes a little longer for that second hold to go off.

Or, if you just really want to lock everything down so that nothing even gets a chance to shoot at you through the course of the entire mission, play Mind Control. Mesmerize is a one-shot boss sleep (one-shot EB sleep with Domination up) that has a long duration out of the box and a fairly quick animation; Dominate is your standard single-target hold with a fast animation, and Confuse is a long-duration, short-recharge "no, you don't want to hit me" power.
  20. I started playing redside on Infinity, and it seems to be fairly busy most of the time.

I do recommend that you join a couple of global channels for whichever server you end up on, though - other than Cap there aren't many places redside where people just congregate. They're usually in an instanced mission and/or hidden so they get fewer spam emails.
  21. My level 50 DM/Nin Stalker, while not being able to "tank" as well as my SM/WP Brute because things won't stay focused on her, can handle just as much aggro effectively and survive.

Part of this is judicious use of Blinding Powder and Caltrops when the defense starts taking hits, part of this is Sha being available and uninterruptible, and a large chunk of this is that I have her softcapped on melee and ranged defense with 42% AoE with Hide suppressed.

But even with SOs, my ElM/Nin does very well for herself and rarely runs into trouble. Being able to pick your fights and the demoralize effect in Assassin's Strike (both the tohit debuff and fear) help far more than any numbers will show on a survival spreadsheet.
  22. All of the above - depends on slotting, obstacles to travel if you're talking about time between locations instead of flat max speed, you can actually see it in game, and additional powers will affect you until you hit the cap (I almost always have Hurdle/Combat Jumping on my Kinetics simply because mobility is my best defense and I want the immobilize protection).

For general case point A to point B travel, I'd lean towards IR but as noted above I never had just IR going.
  23. *plans on watching none of the above*

Brutes aren't borked - they're arguably overpowered, if you listen to the Tanker and Scrapper forums.

Was going by the opinions expressed (loudly) in the two threads linked to in my sig (results are in, and results are in take two). When it was shown that only counting primaries Brute did slightly more than Scrappers with Fury built up, there was a lot of "we need a buff" and "they need a nerf" going on.
  25. The Complete Idiot's Guide to Thermal Radiation for Dummies

Step 1: Put up shields on teammates.
Step 2: Pick two people for Forge, put it on the first.
Step 3: Blast, with spot heals as needed. Use Thaw on someone who says "zzz" in team chat.
Step 4: Put Forge on the second person.
Step 5: Blast, with spot heals as needed. Use Thaw on someone who says "zzz" in team chat.

As shields start dropping, repeat. Advanced steps include putting Forge on more than two people, using Thaw proactively, and using Melt Armor on every 2nd-4th spawn depending on global recharge. You have a lot of buffs every 4 minutes, another buff every 2, and you shouldn't need that many heals. The rest of the time is blasting. If you want someone that spends as much or more time buffing than blasting, play a Kinetic on a large team.
