Once again, I'm not disappointed by the idiocy of a Samson Sledge thread.
-
There are tons of things, coding-wise that could 'improve' enemy AI, but it begs a simple question: Are we ready for more-advanced enemies?
By the look of just the AE teams, I'd say 'no'. -
Jeebus, get well soon, Posi!
Here's to immunity, recovery, and some well-earned R&R. -
YES.
I'd also like a lot more casual stuff, too... I'm still waiting to make 'The Orphanage' SG, where I can use lots of kid superheroes/villains, and have tiny little double beds for them in a single room, and rule over them with an iron fist of hate.
But, then again, more Base stuff in general, yes. -
Quote:This.False. This is a poor method of finding teams, as it only sends within your current zone, and not to anyone inside a mission.
Use the /search menu and you can find players in any zone, (unless they've opted out), and can filter by level, AT or LFT status.
Or click on "Team" on your chatbox and the "Find Members" button.
We have enough ways to go LFT. We need a way to have a team go LFM. -
I'd like to think it's the initiation rite of any newbie to have an odd costume.
-
The proposal is simple, but it is also oft-requested. That, and we don't really know how simple it is, or isn't.

Quick suggestion for Dual Blades: Kama.

Not to be confused with Kama Sutra, which will doubtfully make an appearance in this game. -
Today I had one of those moments that just makes me glad that I play CoH, rather than any other MMO; something that really made me want to play the game, and not feel at all like a grind.
I was on my Controller, playing the 'Healer' role on an AE team. To no surprise, it was just a giant boss farm with the enemy group named 'XP FRENZIE'.
We're short a tank, so I go ask around on the search, and I find one. It takes the leader a little while to respond to the requests, but we get him on. He's a bit chattery, but I don't mind; it's a welcome change to the silence.
And as he's trying to find us, I inform him that it's an AE team, to which he replies something that made me smile...
"What's an AE?"
I sent him a tell, asking if he'd like to duo with me, and get some of his missions done, and we politely excuse ourselves from the team. I get on a team with him, exemplar myself to his level, and we go for his missions.
I spent about 2 hours helping this guy discover his role as a tank. One good thing about me; I've got one of every AT at level 20... So I've got on my squishy Controller, and I make him really work at it; protecting me, maintaining and managing aggro, and even how to NOT abuse PBAoEs.
I take out my Defender, but now I've got some offense, and I can still do a bit of buffing him to make things better, and he's really getting the hang of it.
Next, I bring my blaster, and things are a bit rocky... Because I'm not meant to play a blaster. You don't give someone with a permanent Scrapperlock the ability to do massive Targeted AoE, and then take his defense. I die enough to lose all my Patrol xp, but after a bit of communication, we get things coordinated, and get things right.
In the end, I added a new Global Friend, and I reminded myself how to play my own characters, and how to have fun (and after nearly a week playing CO... I needed a reminder.) -
Quote:Well, hold on there, Doc.Spawn camping is the only reason I can't get behind this idea. I learned how bad it can be while playing CO. I wouldn't want to see that happen here too
Firstly, I'd like to point out that this would be a completely optional alternative to missions: choice a) go into Archon Bigfoot's base and find 6 cans of toxic waste, or choice b) search around Platinum Lake, in Steel Canyon to find 6 cans of toxic waste. It might lead us to Archon Bigfoot! -
Quote:There was never an 'increase in debt', only a decrease for instanced missions.Maybe if they removed the increase in debt for dying outdoors more people would sweep.
Going back to what Sam said: Would you prefer a system where only the designated player could target/interact with aforementioned villain? I know, this sounds like a complete and utter coding nightmare, but he would essentially be 'phased out' of combat to everyone but the mission-holder and/or the mission-holder's team.
Seldom: Your idea is taking things about just a bit too far for me. I'm suggesting very small, incremental missions that take place in un-instanced territories, not a complete renovation of the mission system. Just a 'collect [items]', or 'defeat [number of gang]', and MAYBE an ambush spawn that would send a named boss to your location.
All I'm asking for is a little bit of mission variety; I'd even like an escort to be the one leading US out of some places occasionally. -
I think Kitsune covered things pretty well.
As for collection items? I think making them only available to the collector would benefit well... Just me? -
Woohoo! Now the Claws/SR can ALSO get some extra defense sets from Willpower and be entirely untouchable!

Quote:You and I play two different COHs, my friend. This "feature" exists in no other MMORPG that I'm aware of. And on some days, it takes considerably longer than 15 seconds - CoH is one of the slowest loading games out there.
I'm all in favor of logging out to the character select screen. If security is such an issue, then require the password to delete the character... -
This thread does bring back so many memories; Ah, KittyKrusader, you always knew how to make my weekday full of lulz.
-
Please, don't spear me! Hear me out!
All the big MMOs out there have it-- that certainly doesn't make a feature good-- but one thing that all the MMOs out there have, that I can name, is an 'outdoor' feeling to missions.
"But, Sig, we do our missions in instances!"
Yes, but why can't we be given a choice?
Why can't we have a mission in Brickstown to either infiltrate the Crey base, or to go looking around the city for a bit to find some boxes that might hold their valuables? Why not have a few more missions beyond 'Hunt [Gang]' and 'Patrol [Zone]'? Why can't we have some un-instanced missions that could just take place in the same zones that we love oh so much (Here's looking at you, Striga)?
Would it really be the end of times if we were to put an occasional EB, and maaaaybe even an AV in some key points throughout maps? Like inside the Striga 'Volcano' or near the Storm Palace?
All I'm saying is that some open-world content in terms of a few missions spread throughout the zones, like some simple collections wouldn't kill off the population; ESPECIALLY if it were optional. -
- Hostile Face 5... It's so very perfect for both Heroes and Villains alike.
- Baggy pants of any kind.
- Hand wraps
- The Baron coat
- Organic shoulders
Beyond that? Not quite sure. -
Honestly? If you're on a team with people who are relying on your SB to the point it's stressful to you, I'd recommend either finding a new team, or taking a breath of fresh air. If the duration is lengthened, there will be a nerf to compensate; a higher endurance cost, or lowered effect.

Quote:Yes, something would change, because things in your suggestion wouldn't allow for anything to be 'Same thing that happens now'.Same thing that happens now. Queued up power gets the first shot at defense. Then all the toggles in the same order that they take end out of the bar. Currently they go in a given order, depending on their tick rate and order of activation. In the current way it works, the toggle would just drop. You have not status protection period.
So again, nothing changes from current implementation other then the toggle suppresses instead of drops.
You see, activation time and toggles are put in place for the reason of balance. YES, your Scrapper has to run around the room like a frail chimp because one shot from the mean Mr. Bad would damn-near kill him, because if he didn't have a bit of vulnerability, he'd be OVERPOWERED. -
Security measure.
If someone knows your password and wants to delete all of your characters, at least make 'em wait awhile! -
I can't really say what others haven't, but I'll still lend a reverberating voice to strengthen the mortar, I suppose;
The only reason I buy Booster Packs is for the sole reason that they will give me no advantage over another; I will never be able to look at a foe, thankful that I'd spent $10 more than he/she, because I've spent $10 on costume parts, and a nominal power that works infrequently. A mystic fortune? A self-destruct? Mission teleporter? Surely, not one of those has ever allowed me to best a foe, and if they had? I would doubtfully use them again. I buy Booster Packs to support the Developers, and to let them know that their assets should always belong to pay not for the power, but for the play of it all. -
Quote:I'll admit, Bill, there are very few shoulder pieces currently in the game that I think would look anywhere good asymmetrically... But then again, there aren't many pieces I think look good in general until I see someone who had a slightly different perspective, and rocked those certain costume pieces in a way that really surprised me.I wouldn't mind seeing it.
That said, even with the existing costume pieces, there are issues with pieces not really having anything work well with them except others of that set (or a very, very limited subset of pieces.) If it can be done in a way that looks good both within and external to the set, giving a great deal of variety, I'd be even happier.
I mean, sure, maybe add a few new pieces, like some new gloves, some new boots, shoulders, etc, but it's not a priority. I think once Asymmetry is in, peoples' creative juices might get flowing a bit more. -
I really wish I could say something that Bill hadn't already gotten to, and torn apart mercilessly.
It's threads like this that remind me that people will always try to hype up the FotM just because it's something new. An 'Archetype-less' system is not the end-all, be-all of MMOs... In fact, from personal experience with such systems (Go ahead and guess), I'd say it needs some revision.
