    New melee set.

From what I saw of the video... the animations looked long and ... well.. a bit confusing? Not unlike my opinion of dual pistols. They didn't look like they had much flow to them... It reminded me of some of those superpowered DragonballZ attacks that took 3 full episodes to complete the animation. But its probably too early to judge that kind of thing.

    232.3 - 6 Apocalypse
    235.2 - 5 Apocalypse + Explosive Strike

So if average damage is the only concern, go with the Explosive Strike over the Devastation quad or the sixth Apocalypse.
Why has this never occured to me? .... *opens up mid's, and my attack chain spreadsheet*...i'm not going to get anything done at work today now.

If you add in all available purple procs then this:

    ripper>lunge>impale>lunge> ...repeat

...will do just basically the same (1 more dps according to my spreadsheet, but it depends on how much +damage you're running) but for much less endurance and less recharge required. That chain has the advantage of being able to have a purple proc in each attack, where throw spines can't hold a purple damage proc (it's uses the targeted AoE set).

The throw spines chain however is nice becuase throw spines hits a lot more then just your single target.

Neither chain is much to get excited about. Also, running quills for an additional 9.6 DPS at level 50... We're talking about maxing out around 130-160 DPS on spines depending on what damage toggles you might have and how often you can use build-up.

So yeah...eight stuns in the primary, add in a toggle fear and a toggle stun, with a mag 50 stun rez. It's fun to smash dizzy, cowering things. I have no trouble keeping 3 bosses stunned indefinitely.

It does make me wonder if the rebalanced energy melee will make it to scraps.
I looked very long and hard at the energy/dark stalker concept a while back. If I didn't have an energy/willpower brute already it would be near the top of my list of "must try."
  6. the -screen command is exactly what I needed. Works nicely. Thanks.
  7. This isn't availble to scrappers, but conceptually, I've always liked how stone melee went with dark aura. Oppressive gloom stacking with the AoE stuns, plus knockdowns and a hold for further control. Both sets are very endurance heavy, though.
  8. I have nothing to add except to say I was relieved when I realized Pshyceout's avatar that is was not animated.

    Res Cap DA & FA

For the sake of completion, it's worth noting, /electric easily hits the energy resist cap.
  10. I use a laptop to play the game most of the time. I have a docking station that hooks to a monitor for higher resolution play. But I also play mobile sometimes. When I start the game after switching from one to another it always has to reset to the 800x600 resolution mode because the current mode is unavailable. Then I have to go in and switch, and get back out and restart which is annoying.

I'm guessing there's probably a way to select which resolution to run before starting so I can just run the program from 2 different icons or something depending on which monitor setting I have. Can I get some help on how to do this?

    Thanks.
  11. I'd imagine the drones are pretty frustrated about all those heroes out there they can't kill.

    Best Scrapper?

What the hell is with people and their eternal whinging about the freakin' numbers?!

ANY scrapper can be fun. ANY ONE.

Given that you seem to like a ss/sp broot, PLAY IT. Criminy in a bucket. Going Rogue is coming, and you can play that toon to your heart's content.

If you are serious about playing something else, PLAY WHAT YOU WANT TO PLAY.

    How hard is this? (sheesh)

That said, a toon you might enjoy is a claws/inv. Feels very similar to a ss/wp broot, while being totally different in the details. But to be blunt, IT DOESN'T MATTER.

    Play what appeals to you.
I think the OP was simply asking for information to help him decide what he wants to play. Some people do come here and ask "whats the best scrapper?" and then don't give any indication as to how the want that defined. But I think in this case the OP did fine.
  13. Ninja Run!

I once played some version of Connan the Barbarian on an Apple II in Fifith grade (circa 1984-85) where you would flip at the peak of a your jumps. I've felt the need to flip when I jump on every game I've played since... now has that dream been fuflilled.
  14. I may be crazy, but I can't shake the Everquest experience from my view of how AT's fit together. In Everquest, the best meatshield class (warrior) also happened to be the class that has the weakest ability to taunt. Every other class could easily pull agro off the warrior if they did something wrong. It was their job to NOT pull agro of the tank. (typically, an epic level fight would start with the tanker fighting the target for 20-30 seconds without anyone else engaging in order to build up enough agro to hold it for the rest of the fight). Furthermore, you only fought 1 badguy at a time. You would go through great lengths to only pull 1 badguy at a time (monk's were masters at pulling because they could pull more then 1 thing, then feign death and wait for all but 1 to return to their spawn point, then get up and reagro 1 badguy to lead back to the team). Furthermore, crowd control was assigned to various team members who could mezmerize multiple badguys... that was litterally all you would do with some AT's in a fight, is keep 2-3 badguys mezmorized until the team was ready to attack them 1 at a time.

Given that viewpoint... the problem isn't the brute.. It's 1) the person who overagro'd and got himself killed, and 2) the dominator who wasn't doing good enough crowd control.

Obviously CoX is a different game entirely, but I think that's more a function of CoX being too EASY and allowing people to be lazy in thier playstyles. When you run into something harder, it's common to say "oh, well the team isn't built well enough" instead of realizing that the task is very doable if you down and play with some structure and stategy.
  15. I got the same thing. It looks like it snowed all over the game. Gonna try deleting that file.

    ---- Results ----

Yes... it's fixed. It looks like it replaced/fixed several files, not just the one I deleted.

    Thanks forums!
  16. Oh come on now. Werner and Iggy posting about costumes and the sound of their fire swords?

<<<mutter's something about going back to the blaster forum>>>

    New Game Engine?

I like the game content, but they should combat turn based.

9 times out of 10, at the end of a TF, if you asked me if the __blank__ was a good player, I wouldn't have a clue. I really don't pay attention to that kind of thing. We're winning and moving quickly, that's all that matters to me. I don't remember the last time I was on a team that couldn't handle the mission. And I only play solo or Pick-up-Groups. Granted, every team I'm on has me on it. But I really don't think this game is so hard that it matters.
  19. Here's a list of scrappers in no particular order that can do what you are asking:

    Fire/Shield
    DM/Shield
    MA/Shield
    BS/Shield
    Fire/SR
    DM/SR
    Claws/SR
    DB/SR
    Katana/SR
    MA/SR
    Katana/WP
    BS/WP
    Claws/WP
    DB/WP
    Fire/WP
    Katana/invul
    BS/invul
    Claws/invul
    DB/invul
    Fire/invul
    Katana/Dark
    BS/Dark
    Katana/Fire
    BS/Fire
    Katana/Elec
    BS/Elec

    ... probably a few others.
  20. PvP, don't know... I hear regen, and would assume Fire is good for the same reason (self heal).

PvE... I've been playing a lot of mid level scrappers lately. I find all secondaries do well, with spikes of notable improvment after earning key powers (electric is great after energize, invul is great after invincibility, etc...) Once IO'd out, it kind of depends on your specific goals, but in my opinion, for my playstyle:

    1. Shields, 2. SR, 3. tie between Willpower and Invulnerability.

Dull Pain... Drain Psyche... it's not even the first "DP" in the game.

I honestly don't know what the adult version of "DP" is... can't say I care, either.

My impresson of DP so far is that it's under powered for blasters who's primary purpose is damage. But for a buffer/debuffer who just wants some flashy animations to do while they're not buffing/debuffing, it's a nice option.

    Instant Healing

It was a common joke for about 2 years that every issue /regen got nerfed... AND it was still the best scrapper set. True or not, I think that was still the general belief until IO's came along... and even then it took 4-5 months before people started to figure out how to use really take advantage of IO sets.
  23. I agree DM/Shield is best as in fastest and safest combo for a scrapper. I also believe strongly that any/any can be built to do the job.
  24. I haven't given much more then a passing glance at the AE build system... but I wouldn't mind knowing how I can sign up to play on the teams running these arcs.
