Soloing AV/GM's

Quick question here for you guys: is soloing AVs and GMs with a sonic/rad corruptor as viable as soloing w/ a rad/son defender?? I can't see why not besides the APP choice difference (which sucks for corruptors because the psi defender app has world of confusion which can hold a purp set that gives 5% ranged def when 6 slotted).

I tried building a Son/Rad corruptor in mid's and I just couldn't get the ranged def above 40%.... :-(

I'm interested in this as well. I have a Scrapper nad a Brute that I hunt AV's with, and was wondering what kinda squishy would be best suited for huntem down as well.

Willpower has more passive regen than Regen does. Who thought that was a good idea?

Can we get a fix for Energy Melee instead of more new sets?

/Traps Can, not sure bout others...

Rad probably...

Thats all I got...

/Therm, Cold, Traps, Dark, Rad can all solo them.

For cheap an easyness I'd think the rad or cold is your safest bet. Rad blast or Sonic blast imo is your best bet for a primary, although that's based on personal playstyle only.

YMMV

/traps is nice because it really requires almost no IO investment to get up to speed. It can easily have more than soft capped smashing/lethal defense without any IOs, and other powers similarly don't require exotic slotting.

I think you could have some +recharge to get poison trap and other abilities up more, and maybe some procs slotted here and there, but it really works just fine at SO level.

ya traps is easiest to softcap and provides mez protection, so it is already "better" than the others.

It also has the best -regen, a ranged immob (to keep the AV from moving around, not so hot vs GM's though) and can stack the highest amount of -res.

Traps is very good at what it does. It isn't particularly good in a steam rolling scenario, but as far as AV's go... wow.

I have no problems doing it on my Sonic/Rad, only set up after the extra inf earned on the 2xp weekend.

Didnt spend a great deal but wasnt hard to get the ranged soft cap.

Have done a Rikti Pylon and 4 AVs/Heroes so far. Mako, Synapse, Bobcat and Agent Indigo.

I do need a little more recharge to make Shriek-scream my attack chain, i need to insert shout or amplify at the moment and thats lowering my dps. My Shriek-scream combo has a momentary delay, small but worth the insertion of another attack or buff.

The thing i like about Rad over traps is i dont need to be near the ground for the laying of traps and the more significant heal when i do get hit over just double Triage beacon.

My next task is to try a few more AVs and an easier GM.

With a Sonic/Rad/Mu, you should have no problem soloing AVs and GMs.

40% ranged def is all you need, RI will do the rest.

This is my build, it was done on the cheap, and i went to 45% def(prob overkill). As i said i need a bit more recharge thal will come when i have a bit more Inf.

When you do the export, choose the "phpBB / Zetaboards" formatting code type.

I took out all your lotgs and Knockback Zephyrs saving you probably over a billion in inf. Most of the sets (Stupefy) I have put in are also dirt cheap, so it's a fairly easy build to make.

In addition it:

Uses less End
Generates more End
Has 15% more Global recharge (so your Shriek/Scream rotation will now work fine)
Still softcapped against ranged
Hasten is 10 seconds off perma

You can squeeze the lotgs in if you want to try and get perma Hasten.

How does fireblast/rad stack up against sonic/rad in terms of av/gm soloing?

Very competetively because of fires crazy high damage but imo for AV/GM soloing sonic is better. For overall teaming as well as AV/GM soloing I'd go fire.

I was wrong, what you need is about 39% to both ranged and AoE

Fire does more damage and will kill faster, sonic will keep you safer because the -res from the blasts boosts the -dam from EF, meaning you don't get hit as hard when you do.

I'm curious... how does the -Res in Sonic's attacks boost the -Damage in EF? How are the two linked? I like to think I have a pretty good grasp on game mechanics, and this doesn't make sense to me.

Im pretty sure lowering res includes debuff res

wouldnt be the first time i was wrong about something tho.

Damage resistance resists damage, resistance debuffs AND damage debuffs
Damage resistance debuffs effectively increase the damage AND damage debuffs applied on a target

I'm trying my hand at a Dark/Rad, which is actually my first redside toon. I'm a Scrapper-holic and focus on AV soloing builds, but I have a concept character for the Dark/ powerset. I chose Rad specifically for it's -Regen capabilities, hoping this would allow for high-end damage.

How viable is this combo for AV/GM soloing? Also, no influence/IO limits.

Ehm, AFAIK it should work. It won't be nearly as fast or effective as Fire/Rad or Son/Rad because of how low damage Dark is.

The lack of a tier 3 hurts you, (granted as a Son/Rad I never use Shout because it actually lowers my DPS but Shriek/Scream are good enough to make up for it), but Life Drain is nice as a second self heal I suppose. I haven't looked at Dark Blast in depth in a long time, I dunno whether Life Drain could be worked into your ST chain. For Scrappers Siphon Life is a cornerstone of AV soloing, but it also had its damage buffed.

If you've got enough recharge to make LR perma I'm almost certain you'd be able to solo AVs. I'm not sure about GMs, Dark might not have the DPS for that.

The -tohit stacking with RI and ranged/AoE defense would be pretty nice, albeit heavily resisted.

I was concerned about the lack of solid ST attacks as well, but Dark's ST attack's animation times are all quick(sans snipe), and Gloom provides excellent dps, so I was hoping that between Darkblast, Gloom, and Life Drain a good chain could be found. APP attacks could also help fill in a good chain perhaps. Also, it's damage type is less resisted than most.

I'm good at Mids builds, but I'm not good at figuring out attack chains and the required recharge. Once I get the toon leveled some, I can go ask the Scrapper forum number crunchers for some help.

For general PvE it's a pretty synergistic combo too, Siren's Song lets you leverage Trip Mine much more easily and Trip Mine makes up for the relatively weak AoE in Sonic.
