Well, the usual forum helpfulness has kicked in, so no need for me to go into detail, since the posters above me have said it all, really.
Still, my 2 inf:
1) Try everything, stick with what you enjoy.
2) Scrapper or Blaster blueside.
3) The journey, not the destination, is important.
4) The "holy trinity" is a myth. A team of all-Defenders can waltz through this game. -
Mouse over the XP bar, and tell us exactly what it says when the popup display appears.

In that case, you will get to the end of Mission of Honor and think "If he dies now... I'll KILL HIM!"

My lappy running Win-7 has an nVidia G240M, and handles CoX utterly fine, even with some (low-end) ultra-mode active. I suspect (but have no direct knowledge) that a 210M will also run the game fine, just don't expect all the bells and whistles. I have no working knowledge of the ATI mobility cards, so can't really help there, I'm afraid.

Charge based on peak influence held over the month. If there are insufficient funds in the bank on charge day, any further deposits go toward paying back the deficit until there's a positive balance.

Also some foes are weak to knockback, which turns knockdown into knockback on them.
Also, weaker foes have a lower resistance to knockback, which turns knockdown into knockback on them. Are you fighting -1's? That'll do it. -
I'm sure there's going to be a good way to use the command (I forget the name) that creates a pop-up list for that, too, so that you hit the macro, and select which cossie and emote you want from the list. Useful if you only use a subset of the cossie change emotes.

Yes. (On my main which is about 95%+ of my play time)

You want the Random Level 30-34 Gold Class Invention Recipe option. But if your toon is above L30, you're in for a bit of trouble, as I believe it will automatically grant you L34 ones.

Ah, a fellow Unionite!
Regarding game difficulty - other people have given far better advice than I ever will, so I won't touch on that at all.
One thing you mentioned, though, was struggling to find a team on good ol' Onion. Have no fear! If you have not already done so, may I suggest the wonderful global chat channel "sals badgehunters"? Despite the name, it isn't solely focused on badgewhor- umm hunting, though that is certainly the primary focus. It is a great place to make and join teams on Union, so it might be worth your while using /chan_join sals badgehunters and asking if anyone would like a couple of lowbie toons who are up for a good time kicking criminals. -
Agreed with everyone about just rolling a new character on another server, especially if your first one is fairly low in level.
For chat channels, I'd recommend sal's badgehunters and Union Chat to start with. -
Quote:As a German player, he may well be on Zukunft. If he's struggling to find teams, though, he may well find better luck on Union or Defiant, the two English language servers (I'd suggest Union, since that's widely considered to have the higher server pop), and his language skills certainly seem more than enough to remove that as a barrier.I think, however, that he may be on the EU servers
If so, no idea off hand which of the 4 servers to recommend to him, although I'm vaguely aware that the two English servers are more populated than the other two.
To the OP; scroll down to the servers board, and and look in any of the sub boards labeled with an "(eu)" (Note; only if you are on the European servers, I'm assuming here. If not on the EU servers, any of the other severs will do.) And ask around about global channels and active super groups. Those are the two methods that yield the best results in finding teams for just about anything. -
I have the sneaking suspicion that it's "Adamastor has risen in Dark Astoria", but yes, there's a Hero Zone Event message that announces him by name.

Hehehehe. It's actually just a joke about the location - I'm quite happy to mention that is is NOT any sort of "adult" RP meet (which is not to say that it doesn't spawn adult RP elsewhere, but it's a VERY public spot, so it's mostly just social RP with some people doing plottage).

Quote:Euro-side it's Union (just to make sure that this thread gets some full answers).Word is that most of the RP is on Virtue for the NA servers, not sure which it is for Euro
The 9pm Under Galaxy Girl's Skirt meet and Pocket D (usually starting any time after about 8 UK time) are the regular public roleplay meetings. Plenty of other places to find it, though. -
If this has not yet been fixed for you (though hopefully it has), cancel the currently running fix and go into your City of Heroes directory and delete any .checksum files, then run the updater again.
Please note that the target for any shortcuts for an EU version need to point to "CoHUpdater.EU.exe" (or however it appears in the directory). -
Pro-tip: Click on the circles on the map (for example, the "T" for tram station). This adds them as a waypoint on your navigation bar, and your current distance to them appears in the main window when you're facing towards them.

Quote:The European servers are not dead, but they do not have the same population levels as the most highly populated US servers, which are Freedom and Virtue. Thanks, ill be checking it out after im back from shower^^ Enjoying the game so far. IGN: Makikou, im on Defiant(EU)..
All EU servers seem pretty dead, is NC going to keep em up or am i wasting my time? o.O
I'm an EU player, myself, though most of my characters are on Union (which is generally perceived to have a higher population than Defiant), and I can assure you that they are not dead. Not by a long shot. (Though there are a number of players around who will tell you that they are, and suggest that you ditch your EU account and get a US one - entirely up to you, but I will point out that official information provided to us in the mists of time showed that the EU server peak populations was equivalent to the same-time server populations on US servers that are not Freedom and Virtue... and I'm sure some of our US counterparts will agree with me that their other servers are not dead, either.)
From your time of posting, I'd hazard a guess that you are playing before most EU players get home from work/school/wherever. Peak time tends to begin around 8.00pm UK time and ends anywhere from 11.00 to 2.00 in the morning.
Do not be disheartened by the apparent lack of players for another reason - the VAST majority of this game occurs in instanced maps, so there will rarely be large numbers of characters out in the wider world.
My best suggestion for you would be to join the Defiant Events global channel (the largest channel on the EU servers, btw) using /chan_join Defiant Events and introduce yourself there. -
Did you know:
Many of the soldier NPCs in RWZ & the Shadow Shard have their surnames taken from the real surnames of players who attended the Omega Sektor event in the UK, Easter 2008?
There are many of them (and I naturally will not reveal whose surname belongs to which players) but spotting Private Smith, Lieutenant Niven, Private Walklate, Private DeTarrier, Lieutenant Reid and Private Nakayama (okay, that one's easy to guess) is GREAT!
Thanks, War Witch! -
Quote:Animation falls under Art (listen to the 4th Off the Cape for what areas fall under Art), which makes David the guy who "the buck stops" with for animations, too. I'd say it's a safe bet that he knows exactly what's coming out of the animations team, and it could be anything from emotes to alternate power animations to costume change emotes.David (and Jay) generally work with costumes. While it's possible that they're in touch with what's going over in BABs country, if David is teasing us about animation it's probably about costumes.
He may be talking about new animations for powers, but if I was to guess I would say things like more tails, wings, maybe some other animated pieces, maybe even hair. 100% baseless speculation though. -
Please amend your post to correctly attribute the second quote. It was not me.
Also, I am struggling to follow whom you are addressing in that post - it looks like it starts with you addressing me (since you quote me at the beginning) and then seems to shift to someone else, since it refers to things I have not taken a stance on.
I do not consider this the proper place to discuss the variations in the written word as applied by various posters on this forum, but I will comment that it is not unusual for me to refer to someone as "squire" (assuming I know they're male), and it is not unusual for FFM to call someone "dude". It's actually meant as an indicator that whatever is said is intended to be taken in a friendly manner, since if there was a real intention to slate someone, it's easy enough to call them a "******* idiot".
My only personal concern on this thread is and has always been that you, the OP, have taken the stance that this thread was not intended to be open to others to post in. Fine, but without explicitly stating it people will always assume they have the right to post in an open forum, just as you assumed that they would choose not to, and you know what they say if you assume something.
To give you my full laser-critique on the whole thing: I'd have liked to see a spell-checked version, too, since it wasn't actually that bad a read. I think FFM should have not bothered to post. I think that the whole "derailment" could have been avoided if you had either ignored or accepted FFM's opinion rather than getting defensive about it. I think that the argument between various people on this forum and in the game (yes, Union RPers, I'm looking at a large number of you) has spilled somewhere it's not needed, pointlessly. I think there was room for improvement in some of your (the OP's) ideas. I think there is a knee-jerk response from some of the people who have posted in this thread just because other people they don't agree with have posted, without taking their comments on board.
I want the original posts to be returned, I want this thread to continue, and I want the idiotic and pointless arguments to stop. I can't do anything to make any of those things happen, but that's the extent of my feelings on the matter. -
Two words: Open Forum.
If the OP posts something publicly, then he should expect public replies and responses.
I am not, please note, defending what FFM said, but his right to do so when the OP had not indicated the closed nature of the thread, which was apparently his intention. "Get you hands off my thread" is not a reasonable response. Nor is "you're a troll". If the feedback had been positive, it should have garnered the same response, and I don't believe it would have.
To be blunt, screaming after the fact that someone has invaded "your thread", when you didn't indicate it was private just looks like throwing toys out of the pram, and the OP's unwillingness to accept that his creative writing can be improved stinks of arrogance.
So, to the OP, kindly resume your thread, and let us know what you expect and what we can expect from you.
Thanks.
