Half Life 2, Half life 2: Episodes 1 + 2, Team Fortress 2, Portal, Alien Swarm, Prototype, Dawn Of War, Dawn of War 2, Saint's Row, Defense Grid, Dragon Age: Origins, Mass Effect 1 and 2, Star Wars: Empire At War, The Witcher, Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition.

And those are just some of the games on my Steam list alone.

Sad, I know...

dunno how big their dictionary is, empathy, empathic or the like probably would have been fine, but i have only heard of someone as an "empath" in comic and sci-fi terms, usually for a form of a psychic. case in point, firefox doesn't know the word. I remember back in grade school in english class having to convince my teacher that polymorph was a word, while pretending that i didnt learn it from dungeons and dragons

Yeah, I think I misspelled it: V-A-R-I-E-T-Y.

I'll get a spelling and grammar checker right on that!

Actually it's status as a real word is slightly questionable. While it is definitely used outside of the CoX context it doesn't appear on dictionary.com or in my copy of The Chambers Dictionary. Unfortunately I don't have a copy of the OED to consult . I think while it has been used a LOT in science fiction and has started to enter the public lexicon as a logical derivation of Empathy it hasn't yet officially entered the English language.

Ask, and you shall receive.

The wisdom of Shadowe: Ghostraptor: The Shadowe is wise ...; FFM: Shadowe is no longer wise. ; Techbot_Alpha: Also, what Shadowe said. It seems he is still somewhat wise ; Bull Throttle: Shadowe was unwise in this instance...; Rock_Powerfist: in this instance Shadowe is wise.; Techbot_Alpha: Shadowe is very wise *nods*; Zortel: *Quotable line about Shadowe being wise goes here.*

Thanks Shadowe. I tried checking the OED's official site but they don't have a searchable dictionary there.

Well, oftentimes in science fiction, the emotion-feeling ability is accompanied by the ability to absorb the pain of others (hence the power name). But, yeah, it's iffy.

Dec out.
