Welcome to the forums! And, I feel your pain, he's a tough bugger.

Pendragon by D.J. MacHale. There are 10 books in total, and I can honestly say it is my favorite series thusfar. I pretty much went down your list and went "Check, check, check.", except maybe for lovecraftian themes, but thats because I haven't read lovecraft.
I'll second The Hunger Games.
The Midnighters by Scott Westerfeld. It is a trilogy. At midnight, for a select group of people, time freezes for a hour. But as you know...evil things lurk in the dark. ...Ok I'm terrible at describing things! But don't let that stop you from reading this trilogy!
Oh oh oh! I almost forgot! The Uglies. This is also a trilogy (Technically there are four books, but I don't like the 4th. And trilogy is easier to say) It takes place sometime in the future, and in this world you or either an Ugly (regular people like us), or a Pretty. Almost everyone is a pretty. Pretties look perfect, no blemishes, no asymetry, absolutely perfect. The main character, a young girl by the name of Tally Youngblood can't wait till the day when she can become a pretty, but things don't always turn out how you think they will.

I hadn't noticed actually, when did they change it? I love Daft Punk, and all of their music in Tron, so this is double-win for me.
Now they need to add 2 teched up DJ's, it would be an awesome geek reference.

Quote:I'm mostly thinking of it as a badge, just a nice way to say "You've done it!". Plus, it could be a nice title. My biggest concern with adding accolades to hunting down all the giant monsters is that it's still one more functional performance reward for something that's both mind-numbingly tedious and actually hard to get people for. If you're talking about just a badge to serve as an accolade, sure, why not.
However, if you're looking for a practical benefit for hunting down all the monsters, then I'll have to be strongly against that. -
Quote:You bring up good points. I believe your beginning points are more or less moot in light of GR. (Although I would hate to gate an accolade to only those that have GR.) Your final point, however, is the most problematic. They way I would do it is simply have he badge apply to "legacy" GM's, or the ones that were around when the badge was put in place. This has been suggested at least twice before. In the past arguments against it included, for the one badge only side of the suggestion, the inability to access red side to collect their GM. For the two badge side of the question, there was the obvious imbalance presented by the fact that Blue has more GM than Red.
Finally, as a third objection, the introduction of a badge or badges of this nature poses a problem regarding the introduction of new GM in the future: what happens then? Do people lose the badge(s) until the "capture" the new GM? Should there by different badge(s) for the collection of the new GM as well as the existing one? -
Quote:Don't worry, the game is still balanced around SOs, so you can stay with those and be perfectly fine until you get up to speed. Thanks guys!
Yes, I have a free respec (and forgot I have plenty for the veteran reward too). I respecced with one of my characters and it worked!
Any guide on the new updates happening like that Alpha, Omega stuff and what should I need to do with IO/Inventions? I am still aiming for SOs is this out dated? lol -
Well I could have listed it in badges and gladiators, but it's not a badge is it? It's the suggestion, or an idea of, a badge. Don't forget that this is in the 'for fun' section Sharker.
I didn't really list any particulars because accolade bonuses aren't really my area of expertise. I would have, more likely than not, listed something
A: overpowered
B: underpowered or
C: already done.
I'd rather have ideas from everyone than have them all from me. More input is always better.
As happenstance has it, I just had a spark of inspiration.
Monstrous Recovery:Clickie, Long recharge, grants a boost to your health recovery rate. (Not sure how much. Not much of a numbers person.)
I think this is suiting since massive recovery rates are what seems to define Giant Monsters.
Now does A, B, C, or mystery option D apply? -
Make sure you have all tip missions dismissed Red side. They'll only show up red side and if you are at max tips there then you cant pick up anymore over in Paragon.

Cole can't be the only super powerful individual in the world. If these cities survived, then they must have had defenders.

I will be sure to record it.

I just realized today that there is no accolade for defeating (or preventing in the case of Paladins) Giant Monsters. It just struck me odd that there wasn't one, and I think we should have one.
So if we did have one:
1. What would be the title?
2. Will it have any bonuses? (And what will they be?)
I also believe that there should be one for each side (or simply a different title for each side, but this might not work since it would have different requirements.), and that there should be one more for defeating ALL giant monsters from both sides.
Thoughts?
(And yes, I purposely avoided using the abbreviation 'GM' in order to avoid the obvious jokes that would come.)

My friends, you are arguing on the Internet, we all know how this will end. No ones opinions will change, it will just sour this thread and form bad blood. So how about, instead, we talk about what we liked about the movie. I for one giggled with delight when pixelized water splashed into the air. I also loved the Obi-Wan spoof.

Quote:I looked Zuse and Castor up, thats really cool! Thanks for sharing that! For instance, the End of Line Club that everyone is grousing about -- it helps if you're familiar with WHY Mcihael Sheen's character is named both "Castor" and "Zuse." (People think he's named "Zeus," but that's incorrect.) Those names are chosen for a very specific reason, they weren't picked just because they sound cool. I can see if one isn't aware of what those names mean then you are missing an entire level of meaning in that sequence. Once you know what's going on, it takes on a fuller flavor.
Quote:Just to bring this thread back around, I liked Tron. Enough to be tempted to see it again with my fiance. So, to re-ask a question, is the 3D version any good? If I'm to see it again, I may as well get the full effect. I get free movie passes and only have to pay a few extra dollars for 3D, so it's not a big hit for me to see it that way.
If the 3D is like most of the movies I've seen and you forget it's even in 3D about 5 minutes in, then that's pointless. However, there are a lot of large, open scenes in Tron, which to me is where 3D can really shine. I've heard mixed results, just hoping for more opinions on the 3D.
I thought the movie was great. Good plot, very small holes (if any), good action, a whole heap of nostalgia, all mixed with rockin music (Daft Punk FTW! That cameo is awesome too.) -
This plus the changes to forum rules that took place awhile ago= a much less entertaining forum.

A general conglomeration of things I want to say:
And a great sadness descended upon my heart.
Wish you the best. I have to thank you for introducing me to xkcd, that brought me many smiles. You will be missed. Noooooooo... Can I have your stuff? Doooom! *sniffle* -

In that case I apologize as well. As strongly as I am against the ideas, I'm not going to shoot the messenger (If that analogy works.) Welcome to the forums by the way!

Yes but perhaps it would be best if the Mods DID come down on this thread. Crush it, burn it, bury it, then ship the piece of earth its buried in into the sun. Then burn the sun in the unquenchable fires of hell. That should do it.

Quote:Oh no... The tears, they are coming. :,(Okay so I just finished watching the Doctor Who "Water of Mars" episode (movie in Netflix :P) since I finished season 4.
****SPOILERS AHEAD DON'T READ UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE SPOILED!****
.
Okay, so in this episode The Doctor says something along the lines of, "I've been told that I will hear 4 knocks before/when it's my time to die and I don't hear knocking, do you?"
I don't remember that ever being said. Which episode was that in? I did skip like 2 episodes in season 3 and 4 (maybe 2 even)....any clues (maybe I did see the episode it was said in but don't remember it)? -
Welcome to the universe of Dotor Who!
I need to watch season 5, but Netflix doesn't have it yet. Blink is one of my favorites, "Don't blink, don't ever blink."
"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but *actually* from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint - it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly... time-y wimey... stuff." -
