  1. I vaguely recall something about the PvP zones being slightly different than normal non-PvP zones, but don't remember what. Otherwise, all zones are the same.

If you were still using DOs and SOs, then there is a consideration. The enemy groups drop specific origin enhancements. Thus, if you're relying on drops for your slotting, then you might want to seek out the appropriate enemy group to have a better chance of getting an enhancement you can use.

  3. Eh. My first computer was my college's required purchase of the DEC Professional 350. There weren't many games for it. The only thing I had was Pac Man clone called DEC-Man and (I guess) a port of the game Empire.

I loved Empire. I was an addict and Empire was my drug. Truly, I don't know how I graduated. I played it well after I got out of school. What finally broke me away from Empire was Civilization on my 286 PC. Yeah, Civ was an even harder drug. I learned how long I could hold off without peeing.
  4. General advice for controllers:

    - NEVER start off with the AOE immob, that will get you killed! Especially if you're in plain sight. If you must use the AOE immob as a starter, always do it while you're behind a corner and then let someone else go in first to take the alpha strike.
    - ALWAYS start with something that will immediately incapacitate as many in the spawn group as possible. In your case, the sleep patch Static Field or the AOE hold Paralyzing Blast. In a pinch, Jolting Chain is ok too.
    - after the spawn group has been put out of action, then you can approach and do your other stuff (AOE immob, debuffs, heals, etc.)
    - double immob the boss so he doesn't bother you.

Oh, and since you are Electric control, make sure you have your Conductive Aura on. It cost no endurance to have on and it will sap the endurance of every enemy around you while refilling your own endurance. Of course, you need to stay in melee for this to work, but you should be safe. Used in conjunction with Static Field, you should have everyone around you drained in a few seconds (after you've slotted them out). And because Kinetics is a melee set too, this combo has good synergy. Once you've practiced a bit, you will not have to worry about getting hurt.
  5. I wasn't clear. I was talking about beating up the Clockwork King without the special hold power.

The King is a relative push over as a low level AV and frankly, I feel that he must have been nerfed a bit at some point. The King just seem too easy nowadays. Babbage, on the other hand, is really tough without a kinetics and several dps-ers. An additional debuffer helps too. If your team makeup includes these, then you could take Babbage down without a call out for help. I've been on a couple teams that have done it.

  7. After the second warehouse mission, you get a fedex mission to Positron to get the special hold temp power to use on the King. Babbage is the ambush for it. You don't really need to use the temp power, though, especially if you have a full team beating on him. The last time the King proved to be difficult for me was way back in the old days when the Synapse TF could take 3-4 hours and the team might be down to 3 members, including myself, by the time we got to him.
  8. Ultimus, just curious because you haven't replied to the above, are you already in an SG (I'm assuming a personal one) and have you already been playing in SG mode for a while? Some of the fancier items require you to have unlocked SG badges by racking up quotas while in SG mode.
  9. Are those real shin-high boots or are the jeans just short?

Also, do you think you can fit in a ripped, blue tarp cape?
  10. I have a screenshot illustration too (that I used to answer an old post):

And btw your help is very grateful, just as there's above you on this post.

    TYVM
Yeah, you could get them cheap at the Market if you don't mind waiting (like overnight, ie set the bids before you log out). However, I sent you enough Inf so you can just buy the Common/Generic IO recipes directly from the Invention tables at the University. You will still need to go to the Market to pick up the Salvage pieces for the recipes. Of course, Salvage prices fluctuate too. But then again, you have enough to pay whatever it takes.

For this first character that you're upgrading to Common/Generic IOs, buy freely. Once you get a better feel for things, you can be more frugal. Like for a new character, you can lay down bids for items ahead of when you'll need them. You'll have the time as you level up to wait for your bids to be picked up. Plus you can buy extras to complete your Memorizing badges and then be able to craft at a discount for resale to earn an income.

I find having an ally heal available beneficial. Even if you don't team much, you will have those missions where you rescue a combat capable hostage who then follow you around. It's nice to be able to heal them up after the fights they start. And occasionally, the objective is for them to live through ambushes. I've been picking up the Medicine pool on most of my characters now.

Of course, if you do find yourself on a team, remember that only a buffer can save another buffer. You might not care that the Scrappers and Blasters are getting hosed, but don't let the one team mate who can heal you go down.
  13. I had to bring up this Psychoti post about his banning in another game.

    Where to start?

If you need Inf, mention your @global name and someone will email some to you. If you want to have more than that without farming, visit the Market board.
  16. Of the many times I've run the Blockbuster Event, the only time I've seen the AVs run and jump around was on a team of 2 Brutes, 1 Scrapper, and me as an Ice/Rad Corruptor. None of us had any Immob powers.

Of course when I play my Traps characters, I'm always spamming Web Grenade for the -recharge anyway, so I haven't noticed any problems with Acid Mortar.

I too was thinking that these changes to the Fighting pool are a tremendous buff to Man builds. I don't have a Man character yet, but this really intrigues me. I can't wait to hear what the other pool changes are. Maybe the day is coming where a Man character wouldn't be a leech on a team and that rule could be set aside without being considered a cheat.

    Character locked

I've had this happen before. It cleared up when I dropped back to the log in screen to re-log in.

If you haven't manged a supergroup of your own yet, so you may not be aware that paying Rent is the only way to destroy Prestige. Base items cost Prestige to add to the Base, but you get all of the Prestige cost back if you remove the item. Nowadays, Rent is really cheap so it isn't that big an issue. However, back in the old days when Rent was equal to 10% of your SG's total net worth of Prestige, you don't let just anybody in your SG have the ability to pay Rent. Note: this is not just what your Base is worth based on how much Prestige you spent to build it out. No, it is that plus all the Prestige your SG still had banked! The larger SGs were paying out hundreds of thousands of Prestige a month. Some fool paying Rent early can be a serious drain to the SG. Most old timers have gotten into the habit of stretching out the Rent time table by waiting to pay on the 6th week when the SG's power is cut.
  23. I remember checking out that second video after the contest ended at the time. I vaguely recall it got ranked an honorable mention. Is that correct? Does anyone remember? I never got around to looking up the first video, though.
  24. How did you come up with the +22% tohit requirement? (I wasn't around to view the twitch.tv conference.)

Was it some sort of inside joke to make the Calibrated Accuracy IO set to appear to be even more stupid?
