You guys ought to put these stories in the Rude Tells thread.
-
I am on Infinity and thanks for the offer. I'm not a badger, so I'm not that interested in actually doing any of the Master of X TFs. I expect that I could get through most of them if I just rein in my aggressive play style. However, with the Hami mission, I couldn't figure out what techniques were being used because outside of door-sitting, I normally expect to be killed at least half a dozen times just doing the run against the yellow mitos.
-
As you go up against the Mitos, know that there will almost certainly be deaths. Frankly, I'd like to join a MoLGTF one of these days just to see how those people do it. Anyway, deaths. Tell your dead team mates to go to the Hospital immediately. It's right outside the mission door/helicopter. I can't think of any other mission in this game that is as close to a Hospital as this mission. Don't let them lie there in the water for 10 mins "waiting for a rez" while you and the rest of the team are getting shot up. Or, worst, waste using an Awaken that would have been be better saved for the final AV mission where it would take you 5 mins of travel to get back to the AV room (assuming no tp available).
The only exception would be for the occasional player who's load time is extremely slow. -
I've been keeping a batch of tier3 insps in email. They come in handy when things get tough on a TF.

Quote:Don't be so quick to vendor off Set IO recipes. Until you get a better feel for what's desirable, always check the crafted IO. Many times a recipe will sell for chump change because it requires a rare Salvage piece which will bump the crafting cost up by 1-4 million (depending on time of day and time of week), unless you happen to have one on you, of course. If you need rare salvage and don't want to buy it, there's advice to do a couple of AE missions and trading in the AE tickets for whatever rare salvage you need. So, if the crafted piece is selling for way more and you can still get a decent profit, you may want to consider crafting it to sell. NOTE: always consider the number of items for sale along with bidder and past history, if the piece isn't moving, then don't bother.
I still have lots of drops that it seems aren't desired - I'm just selling these off to vendors, is that stupid? -

I guess the only thing that can be suggested would be to ignore all pop up confirm-windows until you have a moment to read what it says. If you're busy, then just move them aside.

Quote:You don't have to watch the whole Market. You've already IO'ed out some of your characters, so by now, you should have an idea of what you like to use. You'll have your preferred Sets along with your runner ups that you may use to get by with until you can get your preferred ones. Focus on these. If you like them, most likely other will too. And hey, if they don't sell, at least you can use them.I get the whole look at what is selling high and how long it takes to sell and such. But I read some of this stuff and I get the impression guys and gals are doing this in a week or 2. And I am not getting any big hits. I will says some stuff I did sell for 20 million and such.
Once you've narrowed down your list, you will eventually get a feel for their price movement. You really won't have to think about it much, so you can easily spread out the marketeering to all your characters. Get everyone working and you don't even have to dedicate time doing marketeering. You'll do it while you're checking out your global channels for teaming opportunities, etc. Maybe it's slow sunday morning, just cycle through your characters until something more interesting happens. -
I'm a casual marketeer, but pretty much every character I have is doing something at the Market. The characters that I am actively playing (missions, TFs, etc), I keep to activities that won't clog up my Market slots since I'll need to dump crap salvage, etc. However, the characters that I am not actively playing can do all the long shot plays, ie placing really low "fishing" bids or setting higher than average selling prices. They have more time for the gambles to play out.
An example, earlier this year, on a whim, I had one of my retired characters place lowball bids on all the crafted pieces of the 2 high level Taunt Sets. I don't have many characters that have Taunt, but I've looked at them before and their set bonuses seemed pretty good. I was bidding just 56K Inf each on stacks of ten. Every day, I would snag 1-3 of them which I'd then put right back on sale for 2-5M Inf (depending on what it was).
I've tried doing using this technique with other crafted Sets, but not all were so easy. With Miracles, I might snag a fish once a month. With Detonations, I got so many that I almost couldn't get rid of them. With Rectified Recticle:+preceptions, I also got buckets of them, but I thought they had more potential so I stored them in my Bases' bins. Which turned out to be a good thing since their going rate had improved with Issue 19 for some reason.
Speaking of which, I find having a personal Base for safe storage is really helpful so I can keep my characters' inventories free. If I'm unsure about whether I want to use an item I've crafted, I toss it into a bin for reconsideration later. And for occasions like when Going Rogue launched and earlier this month when all the rare salvage were going cheap, I stocked up for future use. -
The issue with the Power unit not producing power even though Rent is paid up is one I've had to deal with for years now at only 2 out of my 6 Bases. It was more noticeable back when Rent was expensive because I wouldn't pay up until after 6 weeks and my Bases were powered down. Nowadays, with Rent negligible, I'm more willing to pay earlier if I happened to be in the neighborhood of the SG Registrar.
So anyway, what I would do is to sell off the Power unit and then buy it back. That has always cleared up the problem for me. -
It's been said that once you see the progress bar start to move on the zoning screen, the process of zoning is now being handled client side. That is, it's your computer building up the map. So maybe the Base textures files have been corrupted and is causing your comp to choke. Did you try to do a Verify Files?

Quote:After I concluded that I preferred using the Thunderstrike Set for my ranged attacks, I starting having retired alts put up fishing bids (ie lowball bids) for the recipes. I kinda lost track of who was doing what since I was also fishing for other Sets. This started 2 years ago, back before the Market merge and Gleemail, so I had hero and villain alts on all three of the servers I am on with bids up.Trouble is, it's hard to get any of the solid IO pieces (like t-strikes) in the 30's range.
Last month, I started crafting all of the recipes I snagged to finally clear up my Market slots on my characters. To my surprise, I overdid it with the Thunderstrikes. I think I have more than 40 complete sets of them in the 34-36 range. To make room for them and my other newly crafted Set pieces in my Bases' storage bins, I have been selling off a lot of my carefully hoarded Set pieces that are out of the mid-30s range this past month. So, c'mon, buy my (good) crap so I can free up my Market slots (again)!
-
Go to Menu-->Options-->General-->(scroll down) Miscellaneous and check "ToolTips = Enabled".
-
If I'm aiming for set bonuses, then I'll seriously start slotting Set IOs once I hit the low to mid-30s and have at least 4 slots allocated to the power.
If you don't care about set bonuses, then you can slot individual Set pieces whenever you want. I'd still waiting at least until the low to mid-30s before using any expensive pieces (not counting the special procs, etc.) so there'll be less chance of you wanting to replace them later on. -
mvdp_ already had a thread about his intent to develop one.

If you need an Inf infusion, _23X_ says all you have to do is ask.

For some reason, I've been reading about undead lately. Last month, I read "Monster Hunter Vendetta" by Larry Correia which picked up immediately from where "Monster Hunter International" left off. I followed that up with "Soulless" by Gail Carriger, the first of her The Parasol Protectorate series. And right now, I'm reading "The Zombie Combat Manual: A Guide to Fighting the Living Dead" by Roger Ma.
So, I'm going full circle. From 'you can't put enough silver lined bullets into the undead and supernaturals', to 'they're ok when integrated into polite society', and back to 'smash and bash 'em'. -
If this feature were to be developed, I hope it includes a means to recall the stats after the-big-frick'in-pop-up-window-that-blocks-half-my-screen-while-I'm-still-fighting is clicked off.

Are you going to resurrect your old account so you can keep the Veteran time on it?

You don't have to go all Sets or all frankenslots.
How much Inf are you budgeting for this? Unless price is no option, you'll be limited by what you can afford. And, of course, the availability of the particular items at the Market. That's what guided me when I started.
If you're going for Sets, in my opinion, the attack and armor powers are where you should start. Almost every type of character will have 3 or more of these powers which will take the same kinds of enhancements. So if you use the same Sets, you'll have a good start on stacking the set bonuses. After that, if you have another power that will take a Set which includes a set bonus you want to add to, then you can consider it and weigh that set bonus's benefit relative to maximizing the power's attributes with frankenslotting. This is the mini-game that can keep you at the Market or fiddling with a build planner for hours. -
Well, back in the day, I picked the Blue Wisp because it gave me +recov. Every little bit helped until I could get Stamina.

Are you reading from actual manga books or online? After onemanga.com essentially shut down, I've moved to mangafox.com.
I concur with the previous shout outs to:
- Aiki - (T&A and fights, but with somewhat incoherent plots)
- Freezing - (pecking order dispute at girl's school)
- Veritas - (punk wants to get stronger) - very good art
I'll throw in:
- King of Thorn - (sci fi suspense/thriller) - excellent story, good art
- Gamaran - (samarai wants to get stronger)
- Jackals - (fighter wants to get stronger)
- Kenji - (martial arts enthusiast in search of grandfather)
- Tower of God - (bumpkin accidentally joins contestants, has to survive puzzles/tasks/combat at each level)
- Yawara - (grandfather manipulates girl to do judo)
- Blame! - (fascinating landscapes without any real story line, chapters and chapters of the guy just walking)
- Biomega - (same writer/artist as Blame!, improved artwork, has a decent story at the beginning, but it dragged on too long and lost focus, ending was a incoherent mess) -
Yup. The forums has been rather slow to respond for the past couple of weeks at least. Of course, the spontaneous log-offs are still happening too.
