Been Away for a Couple Years... Worth Coming Back?

Good evening. My wife, children and I played COH for a while and really liked it. I believe it's been since July of 2008 since we've played. Is it worth coming back at the present time? I wasn't a real high level player but had enough time invested in playing the game that I hate the thought of starting from scratch, but I believe that's what it would take.

I almost clicked the link to the $40 package but rather decided to look at free trial. I would love to hear others' thoughts about beginning the game again. Work has became very stressful as of late and I think I'd enjoy blasting some baddies.

Short answer: Yes.

Why? Well, there is a lot more to do in the game now, from amazing story arcs in Architect Entertainment to new Task Forces. Heck, an old TF or two even made it back in the game in the form of flashbacks.

There are also new, entertaining power sets to play with.

Is it worth purchasing Going Rogue? YES. YES IT IS.

Was there a particular reason you stopped playing? Or just bored?

Honestly, I think we decided to play D&D Online when we quite COH. Obviously that was a mistake!

6 1/2 hours left until all the patches are updated, lol.

If I buy the $40 package (via digital download) will it include the latest patches , or will it still need to go through the 7 hours of updating?

Either way you're going to have to download. It'll take a while, yeah... but man, it is SO worth it. I didn't even mention tip missions and the ability to take your heroes to the Rogue Isles and even make them Villains.

I have just come back after nearly two years myself and am enjoying it. I have stayed off my higher level characters while I relearn the lay of the land on my lower level alts. The player content has some fun missions and I like the mixing of villains and heroes in the game now. The only hassle for me is learning all the new common abbreviations and remembering how to get everywhere. Otherwise my son and I are enjoying the return.

What you're downloading right now is the most recent version of the game. If you buy Going Rogue: The Complete Collection (which is what it sounds like you're thinking about buying), all you'll be doing is upgrading to a full-time account and gaining access to Going Rogue content (which you download regardless of whether or not you can access it).

Oh, okay I got it. So what I'm downloading right now is really the full version, but I'll just have to pay or get a card after the one week trial.

Thanks for the info. I think we'll get back into it.

You don't need to start from scratch as long as you still have your account ID and password. They don't delete accounts.

I recommend restarting your old accounts.

Also, if you were all using separate accounts, before you reactivate any beyond the first, use the First to "Invite a Friend back to the game" to score extra time.

Any characters you like, make sure to delete from the trail so you can remake them.

Also, check to see what your global chat handle is (from the ingame menu) and change it if it's the name you'd prefer on your main account.

And if buying from NCSofts store, you do want the $40 one. Even without the item booster, you save money over the $30 one because only the $40 comes with a free month.

Also check Direct2Play and Steam before buying to see if they have it on sale.

Are you going to resurrect your old account so you can keep the Veteran time on it?

Teams are the number one killer of soloists.

In fact, before you reactivate your old account, PM me your email address and I'll share one of those codes Not totally selfless I'll admit, but it does get you more free time.

I love it! Should be perfect for jumping on (for any large or small increment of time you have to spare) and pounding, blasting, or whatever manner of beating you want to give to your enemies! Or simply for the ol' super hero (or villain) happy fun make believe time!

Not to mention some new mission options since you've been gone... Power Customization, new colors for your powers and some other options for removing effects or changing some animations... More costume parts...
If you liked the game before, you're likely going to love it equally or more-so now.

Welcome back!!

Before spending $40 from NCSoft check out Best Buy for specials. Also you can check Big Lots for older versions giving you a free month for around $10.

You realize of course that most of us here are here because we obviously like the game, so we're prone to saying "yes", right?

That said, YES!
